We stayed for 4 nights. We believe we were in 2 newly renovated rooms on the 3rd floor with a beautiful mountain view. The rooms were spotless with comfortable Queen beds, large TVs, large bathrooms - one had a walk in shower and a bathtub, the other a bathtub only with shower head. The only comment I would make is that the bathtubs in both rooms were quite deep and the edge is quite high...anyone with short legs or flexibility problems would have issues trying to get over the edge. Perhaps a bar to hold onto while getting in and out would be helpful. Trevor, in particular, at the front desk was very friendly and helpful with suggestions and directions. They have a very nice pool and hot tub. They do rent bicycles but were currently awaiting a delivery of new ones. There is no onsite restaurant but their sister hotel just up the street has a restaurant and there are other options within walking distance. Coffee maker/kettle and supplies in the room. The main shopping area (shops, restaurants, bars) is a 20 minute walk from the hotel. Parking was free. They close and lock the front door at 11 p.m. but late check in is available by going to the sister hotel just up the street.

Our room was strange but livable. Walked into a room with two single beds. The next room was a kitchen area with the bathroom at the other side - we could make food while watching each other brush teeth if we wanted to. The next room had a double bed. The decor and furniture was dated, and the room was fairly dusty and in need of a good clean (I found items that the previous guests had lost). Despite the dust and quirks the room was livable and served a purpose. The walls aren't that thick and I could hear what our neighbours were talking about and what they were watching on TV - but thankfully we only used the room to sleep in rather than spend too much time it.

By contrast to the room, the reception of the hotel is modern and there was an immaculate pool, hot tub and sauna only a door away.

Staff were friendly and polite.

Probably wouldn't stay here again, but it served a purpose and was comfortable.

One of the best things about this hotel is its location. It is just at the beginning of Banff Avenue and you can park and walk to lots of attractions. Stayed here for 2 nights with my family and we got a free upgrade to the kitchenette rooms. The rooms had its own dedicated decoder and air conditioning and breakfast was at a hotel 2 blocks away. Not the most luxurious but highly functional and price was great for Banff.

We used the parkade multiple times during our stay. The truck went in and out no problem until the last time leaving. Their signage states we should have 1 inch clearance but they have wood posts hanging down that are not inline with the rest of the parkade clearance. The post got caught on our moonroof. We had to let air out of the truck’s tires to prevent further damage to the truck. When talking to the hotel their response is “they are painted yellow so you should know they are a different height”. There is no signage stating to avoid those areas of the parkade (in fact it is difficult to manoeuvre in the parkade without coming into those areas). $1300 to replace the damaged moonroof. Hotel manager was rude and condescending when talking to her about the issue. Would not recommend staying at this hotel based purely on the employees and their attitude.

We are staying for 3 nights. The staff here are very good. When we checked in Model (I think that is how he spells his name) was very helpful.

We have a loft bedroom with fireplace. As soon as we walked into the room we knew that the room was unsuitable for us. All hotels that we’ve stayed at previously with a loft bedroom have had the bed on the ground floor near the washroom and there have been regular stairs to access the loft. At Charlton’s the bed is in the loft away from the washroom and there is a narrow spiral staircase for access. This was going to be an issue as I was not comfortable with having to go down this stairway in the middle of the night to use the washroom. We didn’t unpack but mentioned the problem to the front desk immediately. Model said that there was nothing he could do about it immediately as they were full but to check back later in the day to see if there were any cancellations. We checked when we went for dinner and there was still nothing available. We asked if the hide abed downstairs could be made up for us and that was done within ½ hour. After dinner we inquired again to see if we could get another room but there still customers to be checked in. We settled for the loft/bedroom.

We were told that if we forgo housekeeping for 2 nights of our stay that we would receive a $5.00 per day credit that we could use at the sister property or we could save a tree. The room is very dark. The hide abed and the bed in the loft are not comfortable. The walls are paper thin and we can hear the conversations from the other unit (they are not loud conversations just normal talking), When people are walking in the loft next to us the whole floor on our loft shakes very badly. Fortunately we are at the end of the hall so we only have people on one side of us.

They do not have an area with a desk and lighting so trying to work on a computer is challenging.

The washroom is also very small with not much room for putting out toiletries. If you’ve ever been on a cruise ship the size of the washroom at Charlton’s is similar.

Parking is free and Charlton’s is very close to downtown. It is about a 15 minute walk to the shops and restaurants in downtown Banff.

We would not stay again as this is just not good value.

One of the reason I booked this hotel is for the breakfast inclusion. Since this pandemic is happening social distancing is very important. I asked my roommate to go to the breakfast area which is in their sister company hotel few blocks away and asked for the "plated" breakfast to be taken out cause we don't feel safe to eat with other people in there. The breakfast attendant said they can't do that so I called the frontdesk to ask if they can grant our simple request cause we don't feel safe going in the breakfast area and the lady firmly said they can't accomodate my request because that is their protocol. She also said that if we stay in their hotel we should not feel that way. I'm like..seriously???? When most hotels offered packed/grab and go breakfast or none at all then this hotel seems to encourage guests to gather in the breakfast area! Yes we trusted you for the cleanliness of the room but encouraging us to be with other people is a different thing! To my disappointment we just did not take the breakfast. I just forgot to ask if they can deduct the breakfast cost from our bill cause I got really felt bad and can't afford to get another disappointment. I hope that this hotel will be more flexible for such simple requests that I'm sure will not affect them much.

Do yourself a favour and book elsewhere. Believe the other negative reviews. No house-keeping, had to go to reception for clean towels, toiltet paper, coffee/tea bags (we were informed there's only housekeeping if you stay 5 nights or more (we stayed 3 nights). "Rooms" are all outside along various outside carpeted walkways (like a 70s motel) which must be horribly squelchy when it rains. Look like they haven't been brushed or hoovered for, well forever. No breakfasts, was told the dining room is closed. Reception staff appalling attitude, on arrival no greeting, just bluntly asked for photo ID & Credit card (there's nothing to spend money on. Only positives, room was clean, good en-suite (very large shower) comfortable bed, totally quiet so good sleeps (maybe no guests in adjoining rooms). Hotel needs a major refurb & staffing trained in customer service. Pity..

This is an overpriced motel, with very limited facilities. We were greeted by a very unfriendly receptionist who rudely demanded ID for all adults in the party, telling us this was “a legal requirement” (all the other hotels we stayed at in Canada must be breaking that law!). We were then directed to our room which hadn’t been redecorated since the 1970’s.

The cutlery and crockery in the kitchenette was grubby and greasy, and there was only an air conditioning unit in one of the two bedrooms, which meant only half the family was cooled! This wasn’t advertised at the time of booking.

The motel-style layout meant there were people walking past the windows at all times through the day, who could very easily see into the rooms, so there was no privacy and no view.

We had to request coffee and milk, and ring twice to ask for it to be delivered. The knock on the door brought sugar and stirrers, so we asked again for the coffee and milk to be brought. 10 minutes later we discovered the member of staff who’d agreed to bring the missing items watering the garden! The coffee and milk never arrived.

I do recognise that everyone is facing staff shortages post-COVID, but no-one was willing to even apologise for any of the hotel’s shortcomings. We only lasted 1 night of our planned 4 night stay, before moving on to the Banff Park Lodge, which for only £30 extra per night provided a proper hotel experience.

When we arrived they had us booked in for the wrong month, but found us a room fairly quickly. The positive features were that there were plenty of towels, a lovely big comfortable bed with lots of pillows, a good shower and the pool was empty each time we visited it. It was about a 15-20 minute walk into town with a supermarket about ten minutes walk away, which we made good use of. There were bathrobes provided, which we didn't use, but I'm mentioning it as some people love to have one!

Unfortunately there was no restaurant which isn't good if you're getting up early to head out on a tour or transfer. There was a spiral staircase to the bedroom, with the bathroom downstairs which isn't great if you need to use the bathroom during the night. The decor was very dated and the furnishings felt very worn and tired, a bit like a 70s time warp. I'm not sure it was the cleanest place we have stayed. The stairways and walkways/corridors were very muddy with bits of paper, leaves and paperclips lying on the floor outside our room during the entire stay.

We arrived yesterday for our 3 night stay and I wish we had booked another hotel especially for the price we paid. Dirty rooms - I ran my finger over the side table and it was full of dust so it was obviously not cleaned properly. We tried to nap in the evening after a long day of driving and couldn't as the walls are paper thin and we could hear our neighbours repetively slamming the water taps on and off and dragging chair noises for over half an hour. Honestly the photos they posted online for the room were a lottt nicer than what we got in person. Online they are renovated and modern and in person its like a roadside motel. My boyfriend and I are not impressed and upon making a complaint at the front desk we recived a free drink coupon to make up for our bad experience. Wow. Overall I would not recommend this hotel and am excited to leave.

There is a pool plus a very small one for little kids within the Hotel. The pool generally is very small and there is hardly any room to swim for 2 families. However, the pool is warm and clean and the kids will enjoy it. However, the best time to go to the pool is right after breakfast only then will you have the pool for yourself.
