Chavtastic Hell Hole

Reviewed Aug 28, 2020
We visited here as a family of 6 Adults aged 20’s, 30’s & 60’s and we wish we didn’t bother!

Dirty rooms and pool area. Full of Mexicans being sick in the pool and escorted back to their hotel room in the wheelchair of shame! Yes they have a wheelchair for when guests are unable to walk due to the amount of alcohol & drugs they have had and wet themselves. We witnessed this happening around 3 times a day. This hotel should be stripped of the RIU brand. We have visited many other RIU hotels and this is by far the worst.

Food: The buffet restaurant was the best, had to wait two hours at the steak restaurant and was given the wrong order that was inedible. Wine wasn’t available in the steak restaurant, so I ended up walking to the nearest bar for wine during the meal, which the staff should have done. Service was better in the Italian restaurant but the food was cold.

Building work was continuous throughout the day and was extremely loud in the rooms and around the pool. I explained this to guest services and was told the noise was only in the day as if that was okay! We are on holiday and if I want to relax around the pool or nap in the room I have paid for in the day I should be able to.

Pool was vile, full of children Screaming/splashing at the pool bar that was apparently forbidden ( children allowed in the pool but not at the pool bar) but was allowed by hotel staff. You couldn’t get a drink due to the about of drunken Mexicans screaming whilst drinking shots.

The hotel was constantly flooding, the ceilings were leaking and the ice machines on each floor were out of order for our entire stay.

Entertainment was abysmal, not at the expected RIU standard, the best night was the white party.

Rooms were dirty with pubic hairs in the sink on arrival, broken furniture and balcony doors that didn’t lock.

The beach was dirty and you was constantly approached and asked if you wanted to buy drugs. (The beach is a public beach that is connected to the pool area) No hotel security at the beach entrance.

*** We expressed our concerns & that we did not want to stay here & this was not a 5* hotel to guest services and our TUI rep on several occasions and they both was useless. ***

The best part of this holiday was when we went out for the day to Walmart (great crisp selection) and the flight home.

My advice would be to visit the caribbean side of Mexico, the beaches, ocean and hotels are to a much higher and acceptable standard. #HonestMary

Dear HonestMary,

Thank you for choosing RIU Hotels and Resorts once again for your vacation.
We are proud to have earned your loyalty over the years, which makes it truly disappointing that your latest stay in October last year fell short.

It's unfortunate to hear you weren't completely satisfied with your experience, as we strive to provide all of our guests with a wonderful holiday from beginning to end.

We are very concerned by your words as what you describe does not at all reflect our services and standards. Especially your comment about not feeling well attended by our guest service comes as a surprise. Please rest assured that we will follow up with our management team.

The Riu Jalisco Hotel is a Fun4All Hotel, which within RIU represents the houses with the largest and most extensive entertainment and activity programme for our guests of all ages. For this reason we are also very popular with families with children. Perhaps one of our Adults Only Hotels (18 years and older) for guests who want to relax and enjoy their holiday as a couple or with friends could be an option for your upcoming stay.

We hope you give us another opportunity to serve you in perhaps one of our other RIU hotels more suitable for you.

Kind regards,

Hotel Riu Jalisco

The RUI JALISCO hotel, restaurants, gardens and staff were excellent. Unfortunately for my brother and I the holiday turned out to be a holiday from hell as we were held against our will by a cartel and under extreme duress they extorted a fortune out of me. I am not allowed to share a link but if you search my name under just giving you read more about our cartel experience.

OMGawd...I so badly didn't want to go to Mexico in the worst way. I had never been and had heard too many terrible stories. But my kids wanted to go. The minute I entered the hotel...I was blown away with how wonderful it was. And that feeling stayed with me for the whole week we were there. We signed up for alot of the outtings and really enjoyed ourselves. Was blown away by the service and my whole family (12 of us) was thrilled with Sandra in the main dining room. And our special needs young man ..they nick named him Ricardo....and he was treated like a king! Met lots of people from Canada! Next time we are staying TWO weeks. I would highly recommend anyone who is planning a trip next year to consider this hotel. But go in Feb...not too hot but a nice hot. The Mexican people are sooooo nice!!

Room tip: If you have trouble negotiating the stairs...choose a room close to either the elevators or on the ground floor

What a great trip with friends!
This was my 8th trip between the Jalisco and Vallarta and I will be back when travel restarts.
The staff, food, rooms, beach, pools but most importantly, the customer service was 1st class as usual.
Special appreciation to Jovany Villalobos Meza for always being a fantastic host!
The neon party was energy packed as was all the daily poolside entertainment.
I always love the fun, laughs and memories that come with each and every visit.
See you all soon!

We wouldnt stay at another Rui if it was the last resort on earth. Your staff is terrible. Your security on the beach terrible. Your unwilliness to hellp us was zero, you could not have cared less if we were there or not. Worst Rui we have ever stayed at.. 20 people, NEVER RETURNING TO A RUI. We were there to celebrate my 60th birthday, more ike ruined it.

Rooms need refurbishment, had several problems with the room which were sorted but not a great start to the holiday. Despite trying to eat in the steak restaurant 10 times we never got a table. The Mexican restaurant which was brilliant the first week was closed for most of the second week. The beach bar had one barman so a 20 minute wait was not uncommon, the beach restaurant which was the only place for lunch during the second week was full of cats and birds and the food poor quality. The burger bar was closed for the second week. The beach and the pools were not cleaned and plastic glasses left everywhere. Grounds of the hotel were well kept and clean shame this effort was not applied to the beach.
