This was our second time to the Riu Jalisco. While we always have a good time here it is starting to show it's age.
We were in room 4115. Horrible view of the parking lot. My nephew was in 2137 and they had a much nicer view of the courtyard. The rooms felt dark and cave like. Basic clean rooms, nothing special. The beds are so old. Mine leaned to one side. My nephew had nothing but problems with their safe and air conditioning not working. Our sink clogged and the toilet broke. While this was all fixed it sucks waiting around for repairs when you just want to enjoy your holiday.
The beach is beautiful and the pool is always a fun time. Never disappoints. We really enjoyed the foam party!
The food was ok. Nothing overly fantastic but we always found something to eat. Drinks were good although consistency is a bit of a problem. Ordered a chocolate martini and loved it. Next night, different bar, different story. Enjoyed the Italian restaurant the first night. My nephew really liked the lasagna so I ordered it on our last night and it was aweful. Burnt on the bottom and cold. All our meals were cold that night. Very disappointing. We enjoyed the steak house. Did not like the Mexican or Japanese. Don't even bother eating at these. The main buffet was good. Loved the seafood theme night. My manfriend enjoyed the shrimp. Breakfast was your basic AI. Try the Mexican restaurant for lunch. Got yummy shrimp and tuna steaks one day. Delish.
We were sad to see the disco was not open. We like to dance and always enjoy the resorts discos when on vacation. Was not very impressed when we learned it was closed.
The staff at Riu Jalisco are the best part. Always happy to help. Always a smile and a hola. Please tip these people well. They deserve it. You just don't get service like this back at home!
Sunsets are always stunning! Enjoyed our early morning coffees and baileys from the sports bar on the beach.
All in all good for the price. Will wait for renovations before we return.
