If you are into LARGE, NOISY and drunken crowds - the Grand Hyatt is the place. Undisciplined children all over, no organized activities such a yoga session, volley ball, beach ball, water polo or fun dance class. The choice of restaurants were very good.

The view is amazing !!’ The beds are super comfortable!! Can’t wait to see the rest. We know we will have an amazing experience. Tyesha was the best at the front desk. She was friendly and went above and beyond. This will be our new favorite place in the Bahamas.
We stayed for 5 nights the week of July 4th and had a great time for our family of 4. The key for us was we made cabana reservations, chair reservations as well as dinner reservations well ahead of time. Our kids are 18 and 16 so they enjoyed the pools, beach and the excursions we did. My 18 year old also liked that she could order frozen drinks at the swim up bar. The cabanas we did were at Fortune and Elixir. We liked both and having them as a home base out of the sun was helpful as there was a TV and a fan. We went to all the pools as there seemed to be themes and focus for each. We liked Fortune, Drift and the beach. Too many young kids at the pool with the rocks you could jump and the adjoining pool to that. Beach chairs were plentiful and the water was great. We also did a Discover Snorkel cruise which was fun and enjoyable. Meals were expensive, like really expensive. There were price points for all, but a family of 4 minimum was over 100 anywhere. Regatta was good, but not somewhere I think i would go again. Marcus was awesome, but pricey. Pizza Lab was a fun family place for both breakfast and pizza dinner. Note you can order Dominos delivery to Baha Mar if you want a cheaper pizza. :) The Swimming Pig was good and plentiful with large portions. Starbucks was a staple and was usually over $50 for our family of 4 coffee and a sandwich. We had a great time and will be going back. Hotel service was awesome and housekeeping was above anything expected or what we have received at other nice hotels. Note that the cab from the airport charged way more than we should have, wish I had prearranged a shuttle or a car. The ride back to the airport was half the cost in a nicer car and that was arranged by the Valets at the hotel.

Baha Mar cons:
1) The biggest letdown was the beach. Mar is in a cove/gulf like area where the seaweed lingers, the waves are doscile, the water temp is warm, and it's shallow for 30+ yards.
2) They nickel and dime you or better yet $10/$20 you (easily 15-30% hike from Atlantis on everything). Everything is just wildly over-priced.
3) Everything is reservable so you can be kicked out of a random table in a Jazz bar on a Tuesday at 10...
4) The 4th of July festival was a big let down (compared to Atlantis). There was a small carnival like event during the day. At night they directed us to a specific lawn for the fireworks, at the lawn we weren't allowed on the grass, so walking to that location was pointless. Compared to Atlantis it was like going to a highway carnival, vs. the state fair of Texas, just no comparing. The fireworks itself lasted maybe 15-20min
5) There isn't much on the aquarium/wildlife front. You can see some flamingos and there's one pool area with two small aquariums. The stingrays and turtles are things you must pay to see, it's all very minimal
