Hello everyone. I am a 52-year-old male who stayed at this hotel due to my 18-year-old son staying here during spring break (HS senior trip planned by by GradCity). I stayed alone in room 406. My son stayed with his friends on the other side of the building.
FIRST AND FOREMOST, LETS GET THE DEDUCTIONS OF THE 2 STARS OUT OF THE WAY:
- 1 star deducted because there are SEVERAL areas in this hotel that are in DIRE NEED OF RUM (repair/upgrades/maintenance). I thought about uploading a few pictures but the purpose of this review is not to trash the hotel, so I decided not to.
- 1 star deducted for the poor quality of the adult beverages served and the VERY AVERAGE food choices offered (by the 2nd or 3rd day, you're ready to eat something different!!). BTW, the serving area needs to be more illuminated. It's a little too dark. No bottled water. I was told I would have to pay for it. Water was available but I don't know if it was filtered or not. The coffee was abysmal and the juice and soda machines needed constant service.
BREEZES owners and administration, if you're reading this, PLEASE invest in the property and you'll definitely see an upgrade in the reviews. Reviews are important! Most people are guided by it.
Check in was pretty smooth. I arrived to an empty lobby at around 1:45 pm. Although my room was not available, I was checked in and allowed to use the amenities (including food and drinks) of the hotel. My room became available at 3:00 pm. No complaints here as I knew check-in was at 3:00 pm.
As I stated earlier, I stayed here during spring break. I won't complain about the teenagers roaming around with drinks in their hands because the legal drinking age here is 18, and therefore, they weren't doing anything illegal. They are entitled to have fun, in a safe manner of course, because they paid for their stay like everyone else. Were there a few acting a little silly, yes, of course. Just teenagers being teenagers.
My room was clean but basic. No microwave, no coffee maker, no fridge. It did have an ironing board and iron. It also had a safe which I did not use. My room was cleaned every day during my stay and my towels were always replaced. Hot water was never an issue.
For the most part, the staff were pleasant and attentive. It's not their fault that the hotel is not keeping up with the overall maintenance of the place.
Entertainment was almost non-existent. While I was there, I saw the same singer every day. The band looked like they just woke up and threw on whatever clothing they could find. The singer was energetic and absolutely excellent with the crowd. I walked over to the Baha Mar hotels (about a 15 minute walk) every night for entertainment. Boy!, once here, it was tough to walk back to Breezes. Baha Mar is AWESOME but it does cost MUCH MUCH more than Breezes and YOU DO NOT get all inclusive. If your finances allows it, DEFINITELY stay at the Baha Mar hotels.
I don't know what's going on with the filter(s) in the pool area. The pool always looked like it needed to be cleaned. The water was not the crystal clear blue that I am used to at other resorts. I accept the occasional leaves that nature blows onto the pool but some of the stuff sitting at the bottom of the pool, what was that about? In all, the pool gave this resort a bad look.
COVID tests (required for traveling back to the US at the time of this review) is available on site. This is a HUGE convenience. The fee is $25 and you pay at the front desk at the time you schedule your appointment. You need to do this ONE DAY BEFORE your return travel date. I was told that times don't matter. It just needs to be done ONE DAY before.
CONCLUSION:
THIS IS A VERY BUDGET FRIENDLY HOTEL/RESORT. If you're the type of traveler that absolutely enjoys TOP NOTCH food, drinks, entertainment, pool (including pool towels) and an upscale VIP environment, THIS IS NOT THE HOTEL FOR YOU.
As for me, I made the best of it. When I wanted a drink, there was one always available. When I was hungry, there was always something to eat. Was I in love with the drinks and food choices, NO, but at least it's there. During my stay, I had dinner at the 3 restaurants. The restaurants DID NOT require for you to make reservations. You simply show up at 6:00 pm. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing but I can tell you that I never experienced this before.
THE FINAL QUESTION . . . .
Would I come back here? Unfortunately, probably not.
