A lovely, very clean, small hotel in an excellent location

Reviewed Feb 23, 2020
We stayed here for a week in February. What a brilliant location, literally a 2 minute walk from Reduit Beach & Spinnakers bar & restaurant. Also it is about 10 mins stroll from bars, restaurants & 2 shopping malls. The hotel is very clean & the ladies that work there do a great job. They are very pleasant & cheerful.

The room we had on the 2nd floor (Hibiscus), was very spacious with a huge bathroom & shower. The bed was very comfortable. There is a safety deposit box for which you have to pay a refundable deposit & beach towels can be collected from reception each day.

The only reason that I would not award 5 stars, is because the breakfast is not the best. If you are OK with the same every day then it is not a concern but with the variety of fresh fruit that is available in St Lucia, I found it disappointing to have the same every day.Even the toast is thin sliced white bread, not the best. I should add that you can pay extra for eggs, bacon & sausage if you wish.

However, for cleanliness & the excellent location, I would definitely return to Ginger Lily.

The Ginger Lily is clean, small and quiet but for the frogs, if it rains and then you will be lulled to sleep by their chirp. It is located in a safe area and a quick step across a parking lot to Reduit Beach where there are many restaurants and activities to choose from. Breakfast is not consistent. It advertised that eggs were available for an additional fee. Toast yogurt fruit coffee or tea was basically all that was available. The house cleaning staff is very helpful and kind. There are 2 cats that are also very friendly. I'll definitely be back and will walk across the parking lot to Spinnakers for breakfast.

Great boutique hotel, large rooms all with A/C , firm beds, very friendly staff. The included continental breakfast is very good and includes tea, juice or coffee, toast and croissants, fruit.
Real nice secluded pool with lots of trees for shade.

Great little small hotel (11 rooms) in a top spot just over the road from the beach and very close to a number of bars and restaurants and a short walk to Rodney Bay shops etc. Would certainly recommend Sea Grapes as a restaurant/bar, Razmataz for brilliant Indian food and also the Yacht Club which is a very relaxed and welcoming place to enjoy a drink at sunset. It is also very close to Spinnakers bar which was, to be honest, quite disappointing and overpriced so I would suggest you give that one a miss. The hotel has a relaxed and peaceful vibe. Small but perfectly formed! Our room ( Room 5 on the first floor overlooking the pool) was huge. Very spacious with a high ceiling, large living space, large comfortable bed, huge bathroom, little kitchen area with kettle and fridge and a lovely balcony. The pool area is rather small but perfect for the job and the gardens are very tropical and well maintained. The room was tidied and made up on a daily basis without fail and beach/pool towels were available at reception. There are a few slight negatives - rarely had hot water in the bathroom and it was lukewarm at best; the breakfast is fairly minimal and slightly disappointing; we had to move the hammock on the balcony to free up space and the internet was a bit hit and miss. Very small issues for us but just to let you know. All in all, you couldn't beat Ginger Lilly for value, location or the friendly and welcoming staff. Would happily stay again.

We loved this place not only because it is in the heart of all the nightlife and next to a great beach, but it has a private and cozy feel which was priceless. The hosts was also so very friendly and helped us with recommendations as well as ensuring we were comfortable and enjoying our stay.

I write this review with a heavy heart because the property itself is quite beautiful and close to everything. It’s across the road from the beach and easy access to many restaurants and shopping areas.
My heaviness is in the fact that during my two night stay, I found the staff (particularly one front desk staff with dreadlocks) to be so unfriendly! I did not feel welcome at all.
I arrived and was given a form to sign with someone else’s details on it, followed by having to carry my bags up a flight of stairs, I got some assistance from the woman who promptly told me that she has a back problem so she can’t carry anything too heavy! The room was lovely - nice comfortable bed, large sized bathroom and a hammock on the balcony! But that’s where it stopped!!
No greeting in the morning for ‘continental’ breakfast- which consisted of toast, juice, fruit and yogurt. If you want anything else, you have to pay extra. I went out for the day and when I returned my room was not made up. When I call reception to complain they wanted to come and check for themselves, when two women and a child came, I had to ask for an apology, which I got and felt was sincere, and was offered my bacon, eggs and sausages that I had that morning, free of charge.
The check-out process was a matter of leaving the key at reception, no pleasantries, barely a goodbye!
This could have been an exciting visit if the staff were willing to engage their visitors in pleasant conversation and make us feel like we were welcome!
The vibe is extremely dry and boring!
