Definately recommend it to anyone.
Kevin and Charlene
My room was situated on the ground floor with balcony doors that opened out onto the garden, and access to the swimming pool area. The room was clean and suitable for two with self-catering facilities. However, there is a brilliant cook called Christine in which you can have a local creole or continental breakfast. (you must try!!)
The garden was maintained impeccable by Karon. The housekeeper - Shirley, kept my room clean on a daily basis. This hotel is a little gem, and worth a stay. Cheryl was very informative, and if you required any information regarding St Lucia, in terms of tours - she would be very accommodating in supplying the information. Yes, the location is a little out, but its away for the hustle and bustle of Castries. Thank you to everyone that made my trip enjoyable.
Would I visit again the answer is yes!!

We were looking for an affordable hotel with numerous amenities such as air conditioning, access to a refrigerator, in-room safe, cable television and more. After our first email to Habitat Terrace, we quickly realised that they were very flexible and accommodating as they kept on throwing in extra incentives - which none of the other hotels we contacted were really doing. In the end, their willingness to increase the total value of our accommodation for the same rate is what really convinced us to pick Habitat Terrace - that along with their attractive hotel photos on their website.
We were picked up at the Airport as promised - which was really nice when you are in a new country. On arrival at Habitat Terrace, we were warmly greeted by the Manager who personally took us up to our room. The other members of staff were equally warm and we quickly felt very welcome to St. Lucia.
We must say that the service we received at Habitat Terrace was way beyond any of our expectations - the Manager and entire staff went beyond what was necessary to accommodate our meal requests, advice on places we should visit in St. Lucia and much more. The Manager even personally drove us around to several places, explaining its history and importance on the island. We always felt safe as the Manager clearly had our best interests and safety in mind. The Manager was also very accommodating in arranging taxis for us as well as arranging an amazing 7-hour tour of many of the 'must-see' tourist spots on the island - including the Soufriere Drive-In Volcano, the Pitons, the Diamond Waterfall, Botanical Gardens and more. We also enjoyed being on-board the "Spirit of Carnival" Catamaran - which was alot of fun!
At the time of our stay at Habitat Terrace there were two playful dogs on the property which added joy to our vacation as they were great company and we had fun playing with them. The infinity pool on the property was really nice - as was the magnificent views from our room. Due to the hot weather in St. Lucia, the air conditioning in our room was not as cold as we would have liked it to be, but the included ceiling fan helped to keep the room cool.
We are quite sure we would not have received such personal attention and care from other larger hotels. We were well taken care of at Habitat Terrace and we certainly look forward to returning in the near future.
If you read negative things about the habitat terrace, do not forget that you will only receive what you are ready to give. Take this as an good advice, for your whole life :-)
If we ever come back to St. Lucia we will def. stay with Cheryl. We love her.
POSITIVES:
1. The hotel is beautiful from the outside- the landscaping is magical. It is a renovated house with nice colors and a great garden filled with exotic plants and hummingbirds.
2. The view of Rodney Bay is great but only a few of the rooms are facing that direction. Our room was in the back with no view at all.
3. Some of the staff there were great - the maid, the gardener, and the overnight security guard. Very warm and friendly people. We spend quality time with them.
4. We got a good deal on the price - a discount for staying for two weeks.
5. We liked the LOCATION but many people would not - it is great for people who like walking and want to stay away from the night life noise. The walk to the Rodney Bay beach is at least 30 minutes. On the way back is pretty steep but we were up to the challenge.
NEGATIVES:
1. We found the place on Airbnb and contacted the owner there. The offer there is for an entire home (full kitchen, living room). We only got a room with a kitchenette. No view, not much space either. We asked for an explanation but the owner (Cheryl) got defensive and started giving us an attitude. Her only explanation of the situation was that the entire homes on the second floor are more expensive. She should have clarified that prior to us arriving there and given us an option to choose what suits our needs best.
2. We had forgotten that we had breakfast included and it was on the forth day when we remembered. I went to the owner and asked her why she didn't mention breakfast at all or disclosed the time window for breakfast ( ex. 7am to 9am) but she acted like it's all our fault because we didn't show up. I've been to many hotels and I've always been told when breakfast started and ended. It seemed like Cheryl didn't want to remind us so she could save some money.
3. Our room wasn't cleaned the first three days. It got really dirty but no one took care of it until we mentioned it. The owner got defensive again and said that the hotel policy is that they change the towels every three days. How is that related to cleaning the room??? I mean did we really want that much?
4. POOR CLEANLINESS. Several times we got stained sheets and torn towels (looked like rugs). When we complained and asked her to come to the room and take a look, she refused ( and acted as though we are diminishing her to a maid- it was very strange) and said that she will send the maid. Hostile defensiveness again. No apology whatsoever or anything close to good service. She then even said that the blanket doesn't need to be washed which made us really squeamish- 14 days and no washing of the top blanket?! The maid came and sincerely apologized and explained that if she had better linens/towels she would put them but this is all she is given.
5. I found a frog in the bathroom and asked her to come and take a look. She laughed it off saying that it's normal in the Caribbean. I am a sensible guy and wouldn't make a huge deal of it but her attitude was so arrogant that I found it unacceptable.
Overall, I think the owner has no idea how to run a business. She has no customer service skills and manages the place poorly. I have a Ph.D. in Psychology and to me this woman clearly has communication issues and a hostile attribution syndrome. Every time we approached her with a problem (politely as customers), she took it personally and started getting defensive, putting the blame on us. Also, I felt like she regretted the deal that she gave us (we found another family who paid double our rate for a similar room) and that affected her attitude toward us (like she was giving us too much already and we should be happy with whatever we were getting). She would be much better off if she stops micromanaging her staff and leave the customer service to them.
Check in and check out times were flexible though we paid extra to check out later than 11 a.m. / 12 noon.
One set back - no free internet acccess at least it was not easily noticeable and we didn't bother to ask.
All in all I would say you get what you pay for. The hotel is clean and comfortable with no frills really.
