I have deleted my previous review as I had a think and thought it was a little too harsh to be fair.
LOCATION: This hotel has the best location L, it is footsteps from the bluest water I have seen. It is great location for bars and restaurants too with live reggae shows going on right next door at Woodstock and Roots Bamboo. At the other side of the road opposite the hotel you can find a few restaurants and stores, and The Jungle night club is just a few mins walk with so many jerk chicken stands outside which are amazing!
CLEANLINESS: I had no issues with my room at all, housekeeping would come everyday and on days that I didn’t think I needed the cleaners to clean my room I had to sign a form to say that I didn’t want the cleaning for that day. They were very efficient with clean towels daily if I wanted.
ROOM: My room was great, I had a huuuge comfy bed, a balcony, a tv with so many cable channels, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, a coffee machine, ice bucket, safe, soap, phone, aircon plus you can rent a fridge if you need it. I was more than happy with my room.
STAFF: Most of the staff were friendly enough especially the lady that serves the breakfast, she is lovely and works very hard. I only had an issue with one member of staff, when I asked if he would mind helping me bring a sunbed over the little wall that separates the hotel and the beach so I could be closer to the water his reply was “No I am not your servant” I thought this was rude and unprofessional, I didn’t want for him to think that I thought of them as servants I only wanted help with the sunbed as I was alone, and I would have tipped at the end of the holdiay but for that reason I didn’t. For a TUI hotel, which I always stay at TUI hotels, this was the first time I’ve been spoken to like that, being a guest somewhere that you have paid £870 for the holiday for just one week and one of the staff treating you this way is shocking!
FOOD: The continental breakfast is not a buffet style like is stated on the TUI website, it comes out already plated for everyone. I thought the breakfast was nice and more than enough for me as you have a boiled egg, 2 toast. Jam. Butter, coffe, orange juice, cereal, banana bread a bowl of fruits and a glass of milk. But it is limited to one portion of everything, though I had an extra cup of coffee. The alacarte restaurant as stated on the TUI website was not open for either lunch or dinner through my stay. After breakfast there was no food served at the hotel.
FACILITIES: The pool was not open once during my stay they were still waiting for it to be maintained, so no cooling off swimming in the pool in that heat for people who didn’t like to swim in the sea. There was nothing for kids to do here, it is more of an adult hotel. The bar closes at 9pm each night which is a shame as it is a lovely little spot overlooking the beach for people who don’t like to venture out. There is a little gift shop at reception area and a gym.
I really enjoyed Negril it is one of the most beautiful places ever. On my last night however I was robbed on the beach walking from roots bamboo down to bourbon which is about 10 minute walk, I was with a few others from the hotel. Luckily I wasn’t hurt and all they had was my bag and some money and bank card which I cancelled. But this was partly my fault as it is not a good idea to walk the beach at night, if you want to go anywhere at night just get a taxi with a well known driver, join one of the groups for Negril on Facebook and you will be recommended so many trustworthy drivers from other tourists. Jamey the security guard that was working that night at the hotel was so nice and helpful. But the incident was nothing to do with the hotel it was outside. I’m just letting people know not to walk the beach at night even with a gang of people like I was.
Overall I would recommend this hotel for solo travelers like myself who are not looking for the posh five star experience, but a clean room.. fantastic location and a feel safe place to stay. And I would stay here again. This hotel has soooo much potential too it could be one of the best in Negril, but I do understand that covid has affected so many businesses, it’s just for a TUI hotel and the price it’s lacking a little, but it’s nowhere as bad as some say on here, like my review states.
