There are many places to stay in Negril, Jamaica on the cliffs... ...but where else will you be pampered at a cliff property unlike any other on the planet... Catcha Falling Star Resort on the Negril Cliffs...Our lovely little Negril cliff resort property overlooks the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Catcha Falling Star is truly the "Gem of Jamaica". Nestled among the tops of the Negril cliffs of the West End with a spectacular view of the sea below will make you want to "linger longer" in Negril, Jamaica! These seaside cliff cottages capture the true essence and ambiance of Jamaica. Now yours to discover. . . A priceless experience!
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I don’t know where to begin with this review first and foremost, the cleanliness and attentiveness to COVID sanitation and social distancing is above and beyond and more than we have in the states, we were blown away. Everything was easy-breezy at check-in with and explanation of how the hotel works, an appointment for our COVID tests and then on to a well appointed room; we stayed in Gemini 1 which is a wonderful small cottage with a lovely outdoor deck and a very comfortable bed (and pillows) which in my experience doesn’t happen much in Negril 😂. Ivan’s bar and bartenders are phenomenal and the restaurant deserves a Michelin star; we did venture out to LTU one night for dinner but we really couldn’t get enough of Ivan’s. The hotel kept an accurate and detailed accounting of our many room charges and we had no surprises upon checkout. I truly can’t say enough about how magical this place is. It was the trip of a lifetime and we want to thank everyone we came in to contact with!

Catcha feels like a restaurant & bar so loved that people just wanted to stay, so bungalows & rooms are dotted around the edges giving a relaxed & homely environment as opposed to a corporate hotel feel. Our beach bungalow (Libra) was gorgeous as it had its own little garden overlooking the sea & was right near the restaurant, which is beautiful at night as it’s covered in fairy lights - albeit it’s not the quietest room. They will even serve you breakfast on your veranda! Whilst a good taxi ride ($15ish) away from the beach & beach bars, the location was good, with plenty of places to eat nearby & easy access to the sea (weather & sea swell allowing). We took a while to tune into the bars getting more lively mid afternoon, with peak activity around sunset and closing at not long after 10, but once we readjusted our body clocks, that was fine! It says it all when everyone you meet is a returning customer!

My significant other and I were touring the island and we decided that we can't leave JA without visiting Rick's Cafe. We did not want to rent vehicle so we decided to find a place that is near to Rick's which was Catcha Falling Star. It was walking distance from Rick's (3 minutes maximum) and there was a small food strip opposite the hotel that sell food at a reasonable price. The staff here was pleasant. The prices can be a bit steep for food at the restaurant but we always had breakfast at the restaurant because the view is amazing but for lunch and dinner we visited the food strip across the road. The property was clean and in a perfect location. The location allowed us to not only visit Rick's but to visit Floyd's Pelican Bar as well.

This was a fantastic place to stay. By far the most beautiful place we saw even after visiting almost everything on 7 mile beach. They have magnificent cliffs that you can jump off of, a beautiful view of the sunset, and rooms are extremely comfortable. More than anything, the staff and others guests make you feel like family. Everyone is so nice that it feels like your own personal cottage for the time you stay.
Thanks for a great trip!

We have stayed at Catcha quite a few times and have always had a great vacation..The views are beautiful, we have always had nice weather, and it is fun jumping off the cliffs and swimming in the ocean. No kids allowed because of safety, but that is a plus for us since our kids are grown. Food and drinks are excellent and staff is nice and helpful. You have to read room descriptions because there is a lot of variation. There is a very small pool, but it is nice to have for cooling off when ocean is too rough. You can walk to a couple other restaurants too for some variety or they will get a taxi for you if you want to go further. Never disappoints!

My wife and I have been travelling to Negril for 26 years and have been for dinner to Ivan's Restaurant at least 20 times and always said we should try out the resort for part of our vacation. So this year we spent our first 8 days at Catcha before heading to our regular spot on the beach. We didn't want to spend a lot of money on a room so we chose to stay in a cabin called Pisces which is smaller and located closer to the road and parking lot. Having been to Negril so many times and being used to the street noise and wild life we figured it would not be a problem. The cabin turned out to be perfect for us with everything we could ask for including AC, Fridge, nice bed, large patio and nice bathroom. The first couple nights we were a little concerned as there were many dogs barking all night long across the street which was very challenging but it got better and by the third night it was much better and only intermittent. Not the resorts fault at all, just the way it is. Check in was very smooth and all the staff we got to know were excellent and caring. As it is a small property that is basically closed to the public during the day you will get to know the staff for sure. The resort is very clean and well looked after with incredible views, nice pool and a beautiful restaurant. Loved that coffee is complimentary every morning starting at 7. Cost for breakfast and lunch was very reasonable and dinner although a bit more expensive was amazing. We tend to eat street food for many meals and there were lots of options within walking distance. We really have nothing negative to say about our stay and lots of positives. We understand the property has been sold so hopefully it will remain the same as we have become used too. We have already booked for Dec 2023 and are looking forward to it. We would like to offer a sincere thankyou to everyone who were a part of our stay and can't say enough good things. For those reading this review, please reach out if you have any questions at all or need advice. We also have some video of the resort and Pisces Cottage.

This was our 2nd visit to Catcha & it won't be our last. Our cottage, Star, was well appointed for us 2 couples. 2 bedrooms with comfortable king beds, closet & drawer space, along with air conditioning, The bathroom was large with indoor shower & outdoor showers as well. We had a cozy living area & kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave & all the dinnerware/glassware you could need. The whole unit was very clean.
One of our housekeepers, Sonia, did our laundry for us. She was so friendly & sweet. That was a pleasant surprise & much needed since we were spending 16 days in Jamaica
Star was located a lot closer to the water then the pictures show. The huge wrap around porch with table, chairs, day bed, couch, hammock, etc.. was so nice to relax on & look out at the water. We enjoyed being able to eat breakfast on the porch on some mornings. One of the friendly dogs, Lucky, came to visit us each morning. We really enjoyed him.
We were extremely pleased with Ivan's Restaurant & Bar. The food & presentation is outstanding. The service is above average & all staff is extremely friendly. A couple standouts were Mark at the bar, Ordia & Carol who took orders & served our meals. Chef Rose is an absolute asset to Ivan's. Of course, we can't forget restaurant Mgr Michael. He helped us on arrival & it was always nice talking to him while in or around the restaurant. The Restaurant & Bar are very comfortable & have great views of the water. There is plenty of shade or tables in the sun.
Susan the owner & Cassandra the Gen Mgr were gracious and were always available if anything was needed. We have never seen a property owner work so hard & take pride in their hotel like Susan does.
We will certainly be back. Thank you!

Catcha falling star is a beautifully unique property nestled on the cliffs of Negril. My husband and I spent 10 nights at Catcha for our honeymoon and loved it. We stayed in the Aires suite which was spacious and had the best view of the ocean from the balcony. Definitely take advantage of room service and enjoy your meals from the balcony! The flowers and botanicals of the property were absolutely breathtaking.
All the staff members were so kind (shout-out to Paula, Christopher, Jaime, Ordea, and Carol for their above & beyond service). We were able to easily arrange taxi trips to other nearby resorts, including Skylark at the seven-mile beach. We really loved staying on the cliffs and splitting our time between Catcha and the sandy beach.
What really made this place great was the food at Ivan's. Ivan's was much better food and more reasonably priced than all of the other resorts in Negril. The menu was expansive and never disappointed.
Thank you to the Catcha team for welcoming us and for an amazing stay!

We visited Catch Falling Star (Ivans, as it is known locally) for dinner on the recommendation of out tour rep. The restaurant will come and collect you from your hotel for free and you just pay the taxi for the return journey which was $25 (party of 4) to Royalton Hideaway (20-25 mins depending on traffic) It is absolutely lovely, perfect spot for watching the sunset and everyone is really friendly. There is a great choice of food, it was all excellent and reasonably priced, you get a complimentary bowl of soup, the food portions are good, and therefore unlikely to need dessert. We had such a nice time that we went back again for our last night meal before returning home and would recommend visiting.

We travel to Catcha for a 10 day trip mid August. We stayed in the Star Cottage. It was perfect for us. Air conditioning in the bedrooms worked great. The large Patio was where we spent our time when not down on the cliffs. The staff was so friendly. We felt like family by the time we left. Ate many meals at Ivan’s and they were all terrific. The drinks are well made.We all had massages this trip and the massage therapist is phenomenal. I love size of the resort! Just enough to make it fun but not so big you can’t completely relax. Great location to walk to other great restaurants and a small grocery store. The taxi drivers who work with Catcha are terrific and will also play a game of dominoes with you as the night winds down. Can’t wait to go back for trip #3. This was my sister’s first trip to Jamaica and Catcha Falling Star. She loved it so much she booked a return trip for October 2020 before we left!
