I was invited to this fantastic restaurant. Fresh from fish market. Only 20/24 seats owner and his wife in the kitchen. A must, fresh and natural preparation. No trics just pure food. A place I want to visit again. This is a lesson : keep it simple but this is not stupid, just delicious from beginning to end ! Thank you !

Have been only once and for a seafood paella, and it was delicious. Very friendly staff, prompt service. Went on Sat evening without booking and all the tables outside were booked, so call in advance if you want to dine al fresco. Overall, highly recommended.

I have been here for the first time following a recomendation of a friend living in Barcelona. It is the right palce to go to have great food. The raw cod was really tasty. We ha many different clams, seabass with potates and many other food, including amazing small squids. Great atmosphere and genuine food. A must in Barcelona.

ENGLISH BELOW Me encanta este sitio! Oh Boy this is a great place. Food is unvelievable, simple, but tasty. You wont find fresh like this anywhere else, and all is made that simple that it gets really special. Fish like that does not need anything else than a bit of oil for being delicious. This is not a turistic place, however reservations are a must. It is not a cheap tapas place either, if you want to eat that kind of fish right from the see it is where you have to go. They do not have a menu, just select what you see! It is not a fancy place, ideal both for dinner and lunch.

Don't go to this place if you do not like seafood. Don't go to this place if I want an elaborate menu or fancy service. Tomas goes to the market every day and buys the freshest seafood and fish. Montse cooks it on a grill. You wash ti down with ice-cold beer or an excellent, moderately priced wine. If that is what you want, this is the best place in Barcelona!

We have been for the first time in Barcelona, my husband, my daughter and myself, and were looking for good places to enjoy seafood. We didn't want a big and fancy restaurant, but a small, familiar place with an intimate atmosphere. I speak a little Spanish so I googled on Internet and looked for places where locals are going. So we found this special place, in a tiny room, with only 6 tables, but with a familiar setting and warm arrangement. We had to make a reservation with a day in advance, because it's always full. There is no menu, but we selected from a bar full with LIVE (still moving!) different shell entities (mussels, oysters, many varieties of clams), and many varieties of shrimps, langustes, sepia and other sea creatures. Some seafoods we have tried for the first time in our lives, like some sea anemones (or similar to it) or long rectangular clams. Everything was VERY fresh and cooked "on the spot" by the couple that own the place. Mr. Tomas served us with speed, amability and very attentive to our needs. He also suggested how and what to try ( and taught us how to eat some of the products!). Near the seafood, there was a large selection of very good wines, but my husband wanted some bear, which was extremely good. The bread at the aperitive was fresh and good quality (as well as the pork meat and cheese treat from the begining). The whole meal, the whole experience was perfect, we three agreed it was the best seafood meal we have ever had until now - anywhere. And we are BIG seafood consumers back home, we live near the Black Sea, in our hometown. Payment was a little bit higher than in other places we have been in Barcelona, but not higher than in a 5stars hotel. And we did have had a 5 star experience in Mr. Tomas little restaurant. Muchos gracias, senor Tomas por una excelente comida!

I dropped in on what seemed to be a secret locals only type of restaurant. Their display of the catches of the day was so impressive I had to get a taste. Unfortunately they were booked for the next few days but I was finally able to score a slot. I came back and was given a warm Catalan welcome by the owner, and fed promptly. We were surrounded by hard core local foodies, each giving a nod of approval to each savory dish. This restaurant only serves seafood – the freshest I've ever had in Barcelona. Most were only grilled with the most basic of flavors, so that they could flaunt the quality of the catch. A bit on the expensive side, but well worth the experience. Just go!

I just happened to drop in on this hole in the wall restaurant. The gorgeous spread of fresh seafood on ice was a 'sign' for me to make a reservation. They were booked for days ahead, but I managed to secure a lunch spot. My favorite restaurant for seafood in Europe was Corte Sconta in Venice, Italy. Now these guys are tied for 1st place in my book. Bravo!

Stumbled upon this excellent seafood restaurant while trying to get a late Sunday lunch near the Plaza Espana. Nearby places did us a favor by turning us away while Tomas welcomed us into his cozy establishment. Tomas explained that we could pick any of the fresh seafood displayed which included mussels, razor clams, shrimp, cockles and whole fish which on our visit consisted of flounder and lubina. We picked the lubina which was then grilled and served with delicious potatoes. The dish was a perfect entree for our party of three. A jamon appetizer plate and beer completed our meal. Tomas was such a gracious host. This is clearly a favorite place with locals who are never rushed and linger over their meals. Don't miss this place if you love seafood and want to take in some authentic local flavor.

Not that many of what we call “mariserias” in town and probably around ten, maybe a little more! Of course, quite a few restaurants offer fish on their menu, but the particularity of these “mariserias” is that they only offer mainly fish and seafood. I rarely go there because unfortunately in this type of establishment , we often find cuisine that is a little too classic but above all cooking that is a bit from another era like overcooked fish, a matter of taste and generations! Also, this type of establishment is never cheap because fish remains a luxury product and only or often it is a wealthy clientele who are the customers. There were a few places that I wanted to visit and in a neighborhood where you wouldn't expect to find this type of establishment, Poble Sec! In any case, two establishments have existed for many years, one of which is El Camarote de Tomás! I had never been there probably because the reservation was not easy, requiring you to telephone, and there was little chance that I would be answered in anything other than Catalan or Castilian. But recently things have changed a little! This famous Tomás actually retired at the end of last year and the buyers kept the same concept of this small historic seafood restaurant on Lleida street. Since reopening in February, booking has been made easier because it is online, which is very practical. The new owners are Josep Ribot and Núria Espallarga, who want to maintain their regular clientele but also make themselves a little more known in town. He decided, with Tomás' permission, to keep the name and philosophy almost intact, with this formula which worked for around thirty years; good products, simple recipes but masterfully executed, all of this served informally. Of course the prices are higher but remember that fish is a luxury product, but ultimately, the wine list remains very affordable, which makes the bill very reasonable for the quality of what you will find on the plates. The decor does not seem to have changed too much and you will still find this counter where the fish and shellfish of the day are displayed. Always a rudder on the back wall, the blue walls, a fishing net on the ceiling, tables impeccably set with white tablecloths, the classic decoration of this place is a bit from another time but completely up-to-date. about. Shrimp of different quality, cuttlefish, squid, tellines, cicadas, langoustines and beautiful fish. A small gildas offered as a welcome. The idea here is to choose your product on the stall because there is no menu and you will be offered a recipe or cooking method. The price being per kilo, of course you will adapt to the size of the fish. This evening we came specifically for a whole fish and we will choose a sea bass of around 200 or 300 kilos, which will be offered to us cooked in the oven accompanied by potatoes, tomatoes and a little olive oil. Given the size of the fish for two people, we will not take a starter because the portion will be a good size. An oven-roasted bass with potatoes cooked to perfection having asked not to overcook it, It evokes this almost dazzling bright light of the South, these blue and rocky seasides, this gourmet fish cuisine. A seafood dish, movingly simple, with next to nothing and lots of little extras. A roast fish with soft potatoes, these melting tomatoes and fragrant oil, cleaned at the table, a real delight. Then for dessert their interpretation of cheesecake here with jam on top. And we will offer you coffee pushers after dessert. A bottle of white wine with a LaFou 2022 Garnatxa Blanca. Powerful and balanced, with very good acidity. It shows a citrus and floral character. Expressive and with a long and persistent finish. Pale yellow with touches of wax color. Touches of citrus and notes of white flowers. The presence of ripe white fruits stands out and nuances of nuts emerge. Lovers of quality seafood will be delighted to find or rediscover this type of establishment which does not cook according to a fashion, but by offering classic dishes, without superfluities, full of freshness on the plate with fish that are sufficient in themselves without needing to be masked under various sauces. The product in the spotlight and perfectly cooked.
