Detailed Reviews
The B n B is beautifully decorated, very homely and super comfortable. Right from welcoming his guests in the wee hours of the night, to helping them set up itineraries, Joaquin was an absolutely amazing host. We couldn't have asked for anything more. And the place is value for money. We stayed there in August last year with 5 other friends from India and out of all the places we stayed in during our 24 day trip, this one was the best. Thanks Billy and Joaquin.
The only flip side, one of our rooms was the one with the shared loo and there was some very dirty Italian girls who messed the loo up. Try getting the private bathroom rooms, they are the same price!

If you're arriving by plane, the first stop for the Aerobus is Placa d'Espanya. From there, it's only 3 blocks to the apartment. Just remember that it's also the last stop back to the airport, so the bus gets busy for the return journey.
The apartment itself is in an apartment block on Gran Via which is a very busy street for traffic, both during the day and at night. As previous reviewers have said, the road noise is quite high. As you can't specify which room you want when booking it is worthwhile taking earplugs if you think the noise will keep you awake.
We were in the 'Standard' apartment on floor 1. The 'Superior' apartment is higher up.
Our bedroom was at the front, facing onto Gran Via. As stated during the booking process, an En Suite does not necessarily mean that your bathroom will be attached to your bedroom, though there are rooms that do have it. Ours was just across the corridor and was solely for our use. Bathrobes were supplied.
As we were there at the end of October, the AC units were not required, so I can't comment on these.
The bedroom at the rear of the apartment has it's own bathroom and has none of the traffic noise, but the bedroom door opens onto the dining room where guests eat their breakfast.
Breakfast is a simple affair, a croissant with butter and jam, tea or coffee and orange juice. This is also explained during the booking process.
You do have the free run of the kitchen though. You can take extra food in if you wish and there is a large refrigerator in the kitchen if you require it.
The whole place is kept very clean and tidy by Siri, who runs the apartment flawlessly. On our arrival he checked us in, showed us around and sat with us with a map pointing out the places to visit and the easiest ways to get there.
La Rambla is walkable in about 30 minutes, but the Metro is also a cheap and easy option. There are 2 Metro stations close by.
The apartment is far enough from the city centre to avoid the typical tourist restaurants with their below par food and increased prices. Use the free wifi in the apartment with your Tripadvisor app to search for restaurants.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa de Billy and would highly recommend it.
Hopefully this review explains things clearly, so you can make an informed decision for your booking.
The only thing stopping the 5 star rating for me is the road noise, but I guess that's something you'd have in most places when you have a front bedroom in such a busy city as Barcelona.

Location was excellent! We loved the old fashioned elevator that took us up to our 5th floor flat! Joaquin was a wonderful host. My husband & I have never booked from Hostel.com and we were a little nervous. Rick Steves advised us to step out of our comfort zone when we traveled in Spain so we did!

I did not like the sense of being in someone's home and being forced to make polite conversation with the owner. I do not care for dogs, especially those that are disobedient and have to come up and sniff you all over. The location is fine and the house is clean, but it is just an apartment turned into a "bed and breakfast," meaning that you have to share bathrooms and hear the noise from neighbouring apartments. The guy who runs the place does a good job, but if you are one of those people that likes to shut the door and have their own space, I think that this place is not for you.

We recently visited Barcelona and stayed here for 3 nights & 4 days in a Double bed room with shared bathroom. Siri & Joaquin were extremely helpful, they explained us the Barcelona map and asked if we wished to go to any specific location. They were available at all times and always came across as polite and helpful. The room was clean, with all basic necessities and no noise. The bathrooms are clean at all times. We really liked the old world feel in this place with the wooden furniture, chandeliers, the lift outside and high ceilings.
Location : Close to the metro station Rocafort & Espanya. Espanya is a site to watch itself and also a central point to many tour buses to other attractions like Montjuic. There is a Tourist helpdesk just outside the metro station, they are very helpful and provide travel information, book tickets etc.
Service: Great service and friendly staff. The breakfast is just enough to get you started for the day and then enjoy Brunch like a local in Barcelona. The WIFI is free and worked without any issues. Parking is also available at 10 euros per day.
Travel: If you wish to travel around Barcelona through metro trains then you must pick up a T10 pass. It is available through the tickets kiosks at the entrance of all metro stations. A couple can also share a single T10 ticket.
You can also take a Barcelona card and enjoy the Hop On and Hop off bus from Placa Espanya.
Food: There are many cafes around this place that serve good breakfast, tapas, Paella both veg and non veg. You can only walk to Placa Espanya and then the Arena - the shopping complex's rooftop for some fine dining and enjoy the panoramic view of the city.
Overall, very good experience & would like to visit again !

We loved our stay at Case de Billy Barcelona! Excellent location is within walking distance or train to everything! We didn't take their advice about taking the hop-on hop-off bus but we will on our next visit. Everything was clean and comfy and Joaquin, Siri, Zacharias and Billy were always there to answer questions and give advice on where to eat, etc. On our last day they did a load of laundry (including folding) for us for only 10 Euros so we'd have clean clothes for our cruise. THANKS...and sorry for such a delay in posting this review!
Barcelona is a city not to miss! We will definitely stay again if we are lucky enough to return to Barcelona.
We visited during the festival of La Mercè in September but not intentionally. What a great time to go. Parades, music festivals and other free entertainment were everywhere! That is where most of the parades were. Barcelona is a lovely city with so much to see and just FUN! We are both late 50's and don't go out that much but really enjoyed all the festivities!
We were warned about pickpockets on La Rambla but were lucky there. Just keep an eye on all your stuff and beware of scams around you.

I travel regularly to Barcelona for work, and I have tried around 10 different locations - between hostels, hotels and airbnb's.
None can beat Casa de Billy either in or above its price range. It has been the best one so far.
The location is good, the house itself is very nicely decorated, and extremely clean. They do the rooms every day. They change the towels every two days, and they give you a yukata (it was very comfortable).
The hosts were all extremely kind and know about Barcelona.
Breakfast was simple, but enjoyable nevertheless: a (good) croissant with butter and jam, coffee / tea, and orange juice. They put classical music while you have it.
I stayed in one of the single-rooms, which was nice - maybe a bit small, but not enough to feel cramped. Since I stayed several days, I got the chance to see the other rooms, and they are similarly nice - spacious and decorated with taste.
I would recommend this to everyone. I will surely come back, if they have a place. And I will bring my wife if I can.

We spent 4 nights here in August. We loved it. We stayed on the first floor with balcony and ensuite. Fantastic location, reasonably priced, but the other wonderful asset is Siri! His knowledge and tips of where to eat, which flamenco show was the best (without the tourist ripoff) was terrific. Sangria, sand, shops, sagrada familia and sun - we will come back and stay longer. The breakfast was great, and Siri also took care of laundry - very much appreciated after travelling for a couple of weeks. Thanks Casa Di Billy.

We stayed here for 5 days prior to taking our Transatlantic cruise back to US. This B & B is VERY conveniently located on a main street and walking distance to metro stop....just 2 short blocks. The gigantic whole grain croissant is very yummy and the coffee and juice hits the spot to get you going to start your day of sightseeing, eating Tapas and more sightseeing and more Tapas. We definitely will return here.... and Siri is very kind and helpful!!

Before the trip we read a lot about Casa de Billy, looked through the nice pictures and dreamed about getting there as soon as possible. Reality was worse than our expectations, unfortunately.
First room which Billy offered us was dark and the only one window looked on.. elevator! So, we decided to pay additionaly (+10 euro per day) for a better option. However, the other room also was far from being excellent.
First of all, it was extremely cold. I couldn't even take a shower - so cold it was in a bathroom. Walls in Casa were so thin that we heard all conversations of our neighbours. Our room (J) was right near the living rooms - no privacy at all. I have to mention that smell of dampness is everythere (especially in the kitchen).
I was totally dissapointed with our staying in Casa de Billy. You will be surrounded with cozy things there, but it's nothing then you feel do cold and live in a dark room with annoying smell of dampness.

I would contact them directly via email from their website. That is what I did and they got back to me quickly.
Hi. In regard to your question regarding Casa de Billy I can advise you of the bathroom configurations on the first floor of the B&B as this is the floor we recently stayed on. There are four guest bedrooms on this floor. Two have the bathroom contained within the room. The third room has a bathroom across the corridor. The fourth bedroom, which we were also offered, has a slightly strange set up. There is a heavy curtain to the corridor. Behind this curtain is a small area with two doors leading off it - one is the bedroom and the other the bathroom. So theoretically it could be classed as en suite but be aware that when you leave the bedroom to go into the bathroom, you have a curtain between you and the rest of the guesthouse. It is also at the front of the building, over the Grand Via which Billy warned can be very noisy. We took the bedroom at the back (Room J from memory). However there were a couple of issues that may bother some guests so I suggest you check out my review. I would also say that you should be very specific when booking about which room you get and be persistent. Billy and Joachim are lovely people and we enjoyed our stay but they took a while to respond to queries and some I had to ask more than once before receiving an answer. I hope you enjoy Barcelona!
The owners are very quick to respond to questions, so I would not hesitate to contact them. There is a big entrance area but I never saw any bikes parked in it. Hope this helps.
