My wife and I chose the 65 euro tasting menu, and we were informed that it would be a surprise, which we kinda liked. Amuse bouche came out and were hit and miss - mini cod bunyols with chamomile cream and yuzu were fantastic, the red shrimp on a crispy fish skin was also good, but we didn’t enjoy the 3rd one - I think it was a whelk (or similar) on a fishy crunchy piece of something. They also brought different types of bread, the blue cheese brioche was the standout, we both demolished it instantly. First starter was an amazing version of a shrimp salad. Don’t even want to describe it, as it was so good. Then a risotto with octopus, which was just ok. The fish main course was also just ok - I liked it more than my wife. The fish was dainty and cooked well and everything on the plate made sense. The meat course was fantastic, a piece of perfectly cooked Spanish beef served with some dainty accompaniments. On to dessert, which was phenomenal. They first brought a pear and cardamom palate cleanser, which was nice, but the main citrus and white chocolate was one of the best and most creative desserts we’ve ever tasted. Meal ended with petite fours, which we found a little underwhelming. Great service throughout, the cost is 65 euros per person and certainly worth it (there is also the 85 euro option, which is more food and different courses).

We did the 5-course tasting menu as a holiday treat. My wife and I are both pescatarians, so I can only speak to some of the regular dishes, but we enjoyed each course more than the last. The monkfish and cod were especially delicious. The service was a little colder than expected, but overall the experience was about what you'd expect from a Michelin starred restaurant.

This is my second dinner @ Oria (and 2nd review ) and unfortunately this time I cannot give them 5 stars. We had the 5-course tasting menu which increased from €65 in June 2021 to €80 now. The menu is still worth the price. Let’s start with the highlights: Amazing presentation of all dishes. We found almost all dishes to be one-star Michelin quality, very tasty. We just did not like the way some of the items were fried. Too oily and tasting oily. The cod croquettes, the fish was very tasty, but the tempura crust again too oily. We found the tempura crust on the fish to be totally unnecessary. That was even a little tempura “thing” on the pre-dessert. I have no idea what it was. I did not eat it. Now the biggest problem was service and if I could rate it, I would give it just 3 stars. It took the server / sommelier 15 minutes to bring the wine list to the table. Than maybe another 10 to ask for my wine choice. In my opinion, this was unacceptable at this restaurant caliber. The second server brought the bread and the “aperitivos” and the wine had not been brought to the table. Unacceptable in my opinion. She had to apologize and told us “I will come back when the wine is served”. The wine was not properly chilled. There were 3 other tables of 2 next to ours. The four tables had exactly the same menu, but guests who arrived later than we did were served first. I really did not understand why. Again, we had all the same dishes.

The food was complex and very well presented and the service was very attentive. The setting is elegant but not intimate as it seems like a lobby of a nice hotel more than a restaurant. Our main disappointment was the excess use of truffle in the menu. Truffles have such dominate and distinctive flavor that they overcome every other flavor when they are part of the dish. At Oria the chef used truffles in more than half the entrees we had. The €80 menu is not a bad deal for a Michelin restaurant so if it wasn’t for the dominance of truffles we would give the restaurant a higher rating.

Had the 3 course Executive Menu at 50EUR inclusive of a glass of wine for lunch, which was pretty good value. Service was lukewarm and very slow at the start (they took more than 15-20 mins to take our order). For starters, we tried the tomato infusion with red shrimp and tender sprouts, and pilpil cod kokotxa on iberian pork stew and squid tartar (would reocmmend the latter). For mains, both the market fish and roasted iberian pork were just ok. Preferred the ginger mousse, passion fruit gel, pineapple sorbet dessert over the avocado one. I guess we actually really enjoyed the different types of bread with salted, rosemary and olive butter most...

We love hunting down Barcelona’s Michelin restaurant tasting menus, that now includes Oria. Fantastic ambience. The staff was amazing, covid measures practiced. We opted for the surprise chef’s tasting menu and glad we did. Each of the 8 dishes were beautifully crafted, each colourful ingredient carefully thought of that results in an explosion of tastes. We added (optional)black truffle (+€15 per dish per person) on the risotto dish and made it even more delicious. We paired the dishes with a bottle of light red wine that perfectly complimented every dish. It was a heavenly lunch experience on a rainy Saturday.

I am an executive chef in San Francisco and my husband and I came to Oria for lunch. We travel quite a bit (often based around food) and we both agreed this was one of the better tasting menus we’ve had anywhere. We had around 18 dishes/small bites and every dish was good, more than a handful were exceptional, and the wine pairings were incredible (all local). They showcased local products in an elevated way without sacrificing flavor, the service was highly attentive without being invasive and we felt the price was reasonable for the quality of the dishes and ingredients. I’ve often been disappointed or felt ripped off at Michelin starred restaurants, but at Oria we left feeling that it really was worth the star and price tag. I question the previous negative reviews - we usually have quite high standards for meals and this was wonderful from beginning to end.

After eating in Lasarte restaurant which is the same owners of Oria we wanted to try this 1 star Michelin restaurant and we were extremely happy with the 5 course meal that we chose. We started with a nice champagne and spoke with the sommelier whose knowledge of wine was amazing. Their wine list was quite impressive and they have a good selection of French ones at decent prices. From the amuse bouche to dessert the portions were just right and everytime u try their dishes u will remember it with good flavor and served very hot. The only downside was the wait time in between the next plate. The chef even said hello and acknowledge that wait was a bit long. I would defitely go back to Oria or lastre restaurant for sure. Job well done

I’ll premise by saying that the michelin dining experience is not only about the food, but also strongly influenced by the service and on this front Oria failed abysmally. Upon being seated we asked for a glass of cava to start and for descriptions of each, our server brought the sommelier who came back with only one bottle and proceeded to fill our glasses without proposing the options or describing the wine. And not only that he spilled some (luckily white wine) onto the table, not a big deal but not worthy a michelin… As for our server himself, Abdul was both distant and unprofessional. When it came to describing the plates he was mechanical in listing the ingredients while pointing to them and nearly touching the food each time. Otherwise we would see him prancing around the restaurant and laughing with his colleagues instead of being there to ensure all was going well. For example we had to ask for water refills instead of him spotting this… Most of the rest of the staff was just as unprofessional with things as simple as one of our plates nearly going to the wrong table! Only Judith redeemed the experience as she spotted and corrected some of the others mistakes, but got a misogynist vibe from the way the rest of the staff treated her. Now in terms of food it was maybe slightly above average, but again certainly not worthy of the others we have been too. It actually started out strong with interesting amuse-bouche and one of the best scallops we’ve had. But as the dishes moved on they slowly went downhill. The ravioli dish had undercooked pasta, the lamb was bland and overall nothing that couldn’t be beaten by a restaurant at a quarter of the price. So I really don’t get how Oria deserved it’s one Michelin star. I get that the chef has 12 total, so I’m sure some are worthy, but here i think it’s purely the chef’s name that made it get it. Do yourself a favor and do NOT reserve here and instead go to the multitude of better restaurants in the city.

As Lasarte restaurant next door was closed, we made reservation at Oria. The interior design is quite smiliar and the appearance of the staff as well. On both side-walls, the restaurant has long sofas, so that one person is always facing the wall. There was no menu card, so it is difficult to follow the progress of the meal and when the waiter is presenting and explaining the food, many don't speak sufficient English and it is muffled by the mask. It seems like they prefer slow-cooked food but we had an ox tale that was like eating rubber and that we had to send out. It was cold and very fatty! None of the dishes that we had were close to warm, only slightly luke warm. The olive oil was not refilled when empty. What is it about all Michellin restaurants that you can spend several hundred Euros on a lunch and they still will charge you for two single coffees! We look forward to trying another Michellin restaurant next time in Barcelona, Sorry!

I don’t like to leave bad reviews but don’t feel I have a choice. I was trying to be open minded as this was my first Michelin star experience outside of the UK, where I have visited several. This is the worst service I’ve ever had in a Michelin star restaurant and don’t even think it was passable for a fancy restaurant at all. Food was ok but a bit too rich for my liking and I feel like the ingredients of caviar and foie gras should be explicit on the menu as I do not wish to eat them for ethical reasons. Overall underwhelming other than the desserts and petit fours which were excellent, along with the bread and butter. The meal would’ve been much more enjoyable if the ambience and service was at the level I’d except. Upon my arrival I was asked to take a seat in bar. Was not offered a drink. When it got to 15 mins after my reservation (I’d been there 25 mins at that point) I had to flag someone down who then took me to my table. Wasn’t offered a wine list. I had a glass of wine that I had to just ask him to recommend for me. Don’t appear to do drinks other than wine. I then had a bottle of cava. After them topping my glass up once, they removed it from the table and I had to ask them to bring my drink back. Did not top my water up often enough. Would’ve preferred to have it left on the table so I can do it myself. Shouldn’t be sat there without a drink for so long in a Michelin star restaurant. Staff seemed disinterested and had no warmth about them. Tried to overcharge me on the bill and didn’t seem happy about me pointing it out. My most expensive Michelin star meal to date, and by far my worst experience .

We enjoyed a family dinner at March 12th 2022 with 8 persons. Our parents invited us for a weekend Barca and a dinner in restaurant Oria. The design and atmosphere is great, the connection with the Monument hotel is very nice and impressive. The food was very good and tasteful but mis a bit of spectacle; something exiting to break te standard. The coffee quality at the end was under standard (the sweets were great by the way) but the coffee was not (waterish). You expect a strong and digestive one… We were disappointed in the service. The English was weak, it was formal but there was nothing beside “enjoy”, the explanation of the dish (too fast due to the language) and did you enjoy… no connection with the table. The sommelier (Antonio) was very weak, unfriendly, we need to ask for explanation of the wine (but told he was too busy), wine was too late (dish first) and the explanations were very limited… (why did he choose this one combination with the dish?). We made it as a group a night to remember but expected it more from a Michelin star restaurant…especially in service. Hire more entertaining and international focussed staff. Kees van Wezel

What a memorable dinner . I must say that the ambiance is not to my liking since the restaurant shares the space with the hotel’s bar . Despite being disappointed with the vibe the food was too good to give less than 5 stars . One can choose from a selection of 3 menus and they are very accommodating with special requests . Timing, temperature and flavors were absolutely perfect. The chef and his brigade simply showcased the best of the region and we felt privileged to be there . After a horrible experience at the 2 michelin stars Enoteca Paco Perez at the Art Hotel , I was happy to see that a fine dinning experience can be beautifully delivered at this restaurant at the Monumental. I would highly recommend this place .

Comparing the two Michelin restaurants we went to in Barcelona in two consecutive days, Oria is a big let down. First of all, the price went up from when I made my reservation and was told blankly yes they raised the price. Though they charged the old price when we were presented the bill in the end, I would appreciate it if the staff could tell us that they would honour the old price as a kind gesture. They have forgotten to deduct €180 I paid at the time of booking, so I almost paid double if I didn't check the bill. My daughter was given the wrong desert though they changed to what was ordered. The four of us tried 3 different main courses. Not particularly impressed. Customer service can definitely be much better.
