The Rostrevor Hotel garners praise for its prime location, nestled conveniently close to local beaches, restaurants, and nightlife. Guests have called out the well-equipped kitchenettes and the overall cleanliness, which extends from the rooms to the well-maintained facilities. Many visitors appreciate the hotel's service, often describing staff as helpful and friendly. While the spacious rooms with pleasant views are a highlight, some guests note they could benefit from modernization. Nevertheless, for many travelers, the hotel offers great value for its range of services and amenities.

We chose the Rostrevor for our first trip to Barbados and what a great choice it turned out to be. Once we were shown to our room, the wow factor was immediate, the view from the balcony was amazing!!!
Lovely large rooms which were kept spotlessly clean by the hardworking staff, as was the rest of the hotel and outside areas. We found all staff at the hotel extremely friendly and helpful.
Good size kitchen area in the room with 2 ring gas hob, toaster, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment and a perfectly adequate supply of pans, crockery and cutlery.
The hotel is in a great central location in St Lawrence with plenty of bars/restaurants to choose from. There is also Dover beach and Worthing beach within a 10 minute walk.
I have read many reviews which mention the noise at night from local bars etc. While this is true, we found that by closing the outside vents in the shower area and closing the bathroom door, this cancelled out the majority of the noise and didn’t disturb our sleep.
This hotel is great value for money which we could not fault in any way. After we arrived home, we immediately booked to return next January!!!

For our first trip to Barbados, having spoken to friends who know the island well, we decided on the South West Coast at St Lawrence Gap and the Rostrevor. A small hotel made up of apartments of varying price. We booked with Virgin Holidays and have not been disappointed. Yes, being a three star it has its little snags like seeing cupboard doors, rusted bathroom mirror and the old type Bajan plugs but on the plus side it is literally on the beach and it has strong WI fi throughout!

The front of the hotel is street side and it has a quiet restaurant next door, which it owns, and a couple of small bars around but the sleeping area is on the sea side of the building so you don't hear much at all - other than the waves.

The staff are very friendly with a 24/7 reception and the cleaning crew cannot be faulted - 7 days a week they wash down the floors, sweep and make the bed. Everywhere is clean and tidy but a little jaded.

Always stay at the Rostrevor when in Barbados.we love this gem of a place and it just gets better every time we come. The owners have spent some serious money updating the traditional wing, which is where we stayed this time, in a two bedroom suite. Great aircon, gorgeous furnishings, fab views of the ocean. The public areas have been updated too, the bar / restaurant area has been updated along with the reception area, to a very high standard. I’m very happy to say that the superb staff are still the same, especially the lovely Verna , who for me is the friendliest of all. We brought my brother along this time and he is already wanting to return! Nothing bad to say about the Rostrevor.....but I do have to give a big thumbs down to the selfish people who not only reserve two beds for two, they also reserve a table and chairs, so taking up four spaces for two people. A lot of the regulars tend to do this I’m afraid...how you stop this, I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ it bugs me though! Won’t stop me coming to stay in this beautiful place💕

I’ve stayed at Rostrevor a few times and have just returned from a 2 week break there. I stayed in the newer block and found the room to be very spacious and had everything I needed. Could hear a bit of noise at night but it’s on one of the most lively streets in Barbados so it’s to be expected. I can’t really fault the staff either especially putting a complimentary bottle of wine in my room for a birthday. This hotel offer good value for money but I unfortunately won’t be returning :( This is solely due to the fact I like nothing more than to lie on a sunbed whilst on holiday and to achieve this involved being awake before the birds!! On my first day I came down at 7am to find all beds with umbrellas reserved!! 7am!! It soon became apparent that if you wanted a bed you had to be down with towels at 6am. I really think the hotel need to get a hold of this as the selfish people who did this need to be stopped, it’s not fair on the rest of the guests who actually want to have a rest and enjoy the facilities. I’d suggest a lockdown of the pool area until 8am to make it fair for everyone. Other than this issue I have no complaints.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks in November 2021. We had an ocean front studio and it served our purposes very well.

The room was large with a very comfy bed and had a small kitchenette which had a microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, 2 ring stove, lots of plates, glasses, cutlery etc - in fact everything we would need to prepare breakfast which we did daily whilst sitting admiring the amazing view of the Caribbean.

There is a large pool area overlooking the sea with a small beach area where you can enter the sea rock free if you fancy a swim.

Location is right in the middle of St Lawrence Gap, however, we heard no noise at all while in our room - however, there was a 12pm curfew at the time and things were definitely quieter than normal due to COVID.

There is a small launderette where you can get tokens for the machines and washing powder and this was very useful as we didn't need to do the usual mound of washing when we got home.

Staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and accommodated our request for a late check out.

Highly recommend if you are looking for something comfortable but not expensive or luxurious in a brilliant location.

The hotel itself was ideal - good self catering facilities and a nearby supermarket (Worthing) left our spending money free to enjoy nice dinners and cocktails from the great choice of restaurants and bars on The Gap.
It was kept spotlessly clean and has it’s own teeny tiny cove of a beach.
One of our main reasons for choosing was the rooms all have sea views which did not disappoint.
The only thing that stopped the 5 stars was the street noise through to up to 3am. Don’t get me wrong we picked the location however the street facing windows of the apartment have no glass! The slatted shutters offered no sound protection at all from the late night club and outdoor karaoke right opposite - I just don’t get the logic.
There are 1 bed apartments that I imagine would mean you have a bedroom door to shut it out so if you’re not a night owl you may want to look into those.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room is a decent size and there was a little kitchen with a microwave and coffee machine. Its very clean and nicer than the pictures. There aren’t many toiletries and there are a couple of mini marts very close by. You can use a washing machine and dryer at the hotel for a good price. I was on the first floor and had a really nice sized balcony, I could hear the waves whilst I slept! (Beware that if you get a room on the ground floor then you are pretty exposed to roaming patrons and it’s a terrace rather than a balcony).

The location is pretty good it’s in the middle of a nice buzzy street, but I wasn’t at all disturbed by any street noise and I couldn’t hear it in the room. It’s about a 5-10 min walk to the part of Dover beach where you can rent beach loungers and about a 5 min walk to a bus stop. The hotel has a small spit of sand which you could maybe put a beach lounger on (all beaches in Barbados are public but I doubt the public could access this very easily!).

If you get a taxi from the hotel just be clear about what you want, I asked for them to organise a taxi for me to go up to the wildlife reserve and the taxi driver who took me, Lois, absolutely insisted on bringing me back at charge whereas I didn’t want to necessarily go back to the hotel by taxi. She even used the words ‘you won’t get rid of me’! Her car isn’t air-conditioned either.

For what was to be a relaxing post-pandemic 2 weeks at the Gap was not meant to be. After reviewing various locations in this area, we thought the Rostrevor would meet our basic criteria however the day we arrived, the ac in our room spilled water in the closet and on the floor. We were moved above to a room with a ‘sorry’ from the hotel manager. It happens. Yet, during our two week stay at the hotel, we experienced a similar situation with the ac leaking in our room again. This time, someone eventually came to repair it. On top of this, imagine not being able to take a proper shower because you have to wait 15 mins for only‘warm’ water, and having to deal with a shower head that was unadjustable for someone who is 5’4” AND have to wipe the floor daily because they do not even have shower curtain or proper sized bath mat? Before you make any judgement, I addressed all my concerns as they happened only to be told a basic ‘sorry’ by the hotel manager. I gave this hotel 3 stars is because the staff fortunately made up for the lack of the hotels deficiencies. Mavis, Natalie, Glendon and Bojean were genuine and friendly and should be recognized. You would think when business was slow during the pandemic, this hotel would have taken the time to fix their issues and improve their facilities but sadly, no. While the hotel attempted to make the situation right the day we departed, sadly this only occurred because I had to go to reception and reiterate my experiences.. Had I not made this attempt, I would have left without any restitution. For a hotel whose slogan ‘It’s a family affair’ they represent themselves as ‘It’s a family, no one cares’ .

We recently stayed at the Rostrevor hotel for a couple of nights. Having never been to Barbados before, neither of us had an experience to compare it to but this certainly exceeded our expectations!

First off, the location is amazing- the hotel backs on to the sea and has a private mini ‘beach’. The pool, sunloungers and restaurant tables look over the ocean emphasising the idyllic view. St Lawrence Gap is packed with bars, restaurants and clubs however we weren’t able to experience many of these due to our length of stay and the ongoing COVID restrictions.

The room (and hotel in general) was very clean and well-maintained. We had 2 twin beds, a large bathroom and a small balcony with a great view.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating and COVID protocols were enforced throughout to ensure the safety of the guests.

There is a basic breakfast and lunch menu at the hotel restaurant but there are hobs and a microwave in the room if you prefer to cook for yourself.

All in all we had a very relaxing stay, definitely value for money.

Stayed for 2 nights, we were met by the rudest receptionist we've encountered in years of travelling and coming to Barbados, which put us all in a bad mood from the start as we felt unwelcome. No tea or coffee in the room. There was a coffee machine in the room but no filters which we then couldn't find in any supermarket either. The cupboards were dirty and had crumbs in them. Practically no beach. Not enough sunbeds. Noisy at night. Beds were not ready on arrival. The maid and maintenance man had to come put an additional bed in the room and separate the double bed. They were the nicest staff we encountered at the hotel. When the furniture was moved to make space for the extra bed there's was a lot of dirt which the maintenance man cleaned up. Grass wasn't cut, which made the grounds look unkept. We complained about the issues and they said they would review the price but we never heard from them again. There are plenty of other hotels in this price range and area that are much better, we stayed in infinity on the beach for 2 nights and blue orchid for 10 nights and both were considerably better. Would not recommend Rostrevor. Avoid if you want a nice holiday.

Hi...there's nothing much here or in the area of itself except for the beach and the beachfront area of the hotel is mostly rocks to push the water back, but if you walk from the hotel five minutes going south there's a nice stretch of beach with a small area for young kids to play called Dover beach. PS...currently as I write this, we had just had a major hurricane on the island and I understand much of the beach is gone on the south coast, it's only been 2 days so I don't know if the sea has brought everything back and if the major cleanup has begun/finish.
