Nestled in a prime spot, Westgate New York Grand Central garners high marks for its cleanliness and stylish atmosphere, with guests frequently complimenting the meticulous upkeep and modern decor. The friendly and professional hotel staff often receive accolades, although there have been occasional service hiccups. While the rooms are generally found to be comfortable and well-appointed, critics point to the dated furnishings and noise penetration as minor setbacks. Despite its commendable location near attractions and dining, the added resort fees and underwhelming amenities like WiFi lead some guests to question the value proposition.

I booked a room here through last minute.com and I was pleasantly surprised with it! Staff very friendly and room (signature queen) was clearly newly refurbished, with dual aspect windows, amazingly comfy bed, flatscreen TV and a lovely large bathroom. Location was also great, under 5 min walk from grand central with a 24hr shop 1 block away, and about 20 min walk from Times Square. Check in and check out both very speedy - there was a $50 refundable damage deposit I wasnt aware of but this wasnt too much of an issue. Special mention to Kevin on check out, very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was also great, although quite pricey ($35) for what was on offer. The only things that make this hotel lose a star was that the room I was in (1302) seemed to have absolutely no soundproofing from the room next door. I was woken up both nights at about 2am, as even though the people next door were talking in normal voices (not shouting), it felt like they were in the same room...! Also worth bearing in mind that at the moment (Feb 2020) they have building works on downstairs, on the 13th floor this didnt affect me much but nod may be more of an issue if on lower floors. Will definitely consider staying here again if I visit NYC again!

We traveled as two couples celebrating a joint birthday from Ireland. Had a lovely welcome from jose on arrival, check in was smooth and quick. Hotel is in a great location, 5mins walk to grand central,20mins walk to Times Square or 5mins in a taxi, costing 6 dollars. Better walking as you go by Bryant park great in December for ice skating and little stalls. Hotel was exactly what we were looking, we had a great nights sleep, walls a little thin could hear people next door. But over all room was warm, comfortable and very welcoming like all the staff. Will definitely will return to stay here. A very special thanks chapik he fixed us up with a great transfer to the airport at the 11th hour as I had booked transportation for the wrong date, we thank you again. Merry Christmas to all the staff.

After months of looking and panic at the constant reference to how small NYC hotel rooms are we decided to book the Westgate, it’s clean modern formally the “Tudor”. It has had a nice facelift, things you need to know “free wifi” this can cost you in NYC so good to be free also 24hr prior free cancel so with pandemic it’s good to have this option. The hotel Is about 500m from Grand Central so perfect for access across tele city, $5.50 gets you out and back to most areas with minimal issues. It’s a 20-25 minute walk to Time Square, Broadway, the Chrysler building is about 400m away 20 Mins to Rockafella so near most places,. The room 1616 was spacious big floor space closet (wardrobe) and average bathroom, hot water took a few minutes to build up and maintenance sorted it within 5 mins of asking. We’ll worth a stay and we’d use this place again if we came back to NYC.

I had a weeklong stay at this hotel for business. I arrived to discover the entire lobby is a complete disaster area because they are doing major construction. Literally 75% of the advertised gorgeous lobby is completely blocked off by huge construction walls. This also means there is a nonstop construction noise, which I could hear through the floor of my fourth floor room during the daytime.

In addition, the entire hotel and everything inside of it is run down and dilapidated. Truly it seems like every single object, piece of furniture, wall… Everything!… Is worn down. The quality of the furnishings and decor is on par with a Motel 6. See my attached photos for evidence… Wallpaper was peeling and ripped, paint jobs were scratched and chipping, the mirror had a giant crack in the corner, the toilet was peeling… We paid nearly $1200 for our stay and it felt like we were living in an abandoned building.

Also, skip the $32 breakfast buffet. It was disgusting and I should’ve just walked away as soon as I saw it Require that you walk through a dingy dirty hallway to get to it. The contents were more or less what you would get at a free continental breakfast at budget Motel. The eggs were runny, the sausage was cold, the juice is in cans in a bucket of ice, the pancakes are clearly prepackaged and not made fresh. It was revolting and a rip orf.

I had a very good stay here, though I am very low key when it comes to traveling. I really just used the room to watch TV and sleep.

The room was clean, bed comfy, and check in was friendly and fast. I like that there is a restaurant directly across the street and you really can't beat the location.

Overall, it had a very low rate for my company and I would stay again.

Beautiful hotel near Grand Central Station .
As soon as my husband and I arrived the doorman came to help with our suitcases .
Such a warm and friendly welcome at the reception too .
Our room had a queen sized bed , well lite , mirrors , and toiletries and wooden floor . Spotlessly clean room and had the best nights sleep in a long time after a long journey from the UK .
Lovely hot shower over the bath and cosy towels and dressing gown .
Beautiful decorated and lovely bar area . Also there are snacks for you to purchase for breakfast as room only .
My only negative is the additional daily charges that are mandatory and unexpected in NYC !!
Here in the UK the rate you make on booking is the total cost unless you ask for additional extras .
The £30 dollars per day should be on the room rate so you don’t have any unexpected surprises.
Other than that I’d definitely stay here again .

This hotel was completely overhauled this year and the rooms are all completely remodeled and brand new inside. I stayed here for a few days and here are some pros and cons.

Pros: location is great, it's near Grand Central and in a non-touristy more quiet area of midtown east, the hotel has a beautiful lobby and the staff are friendly and hospitable, the room (while small but typical for midtown room sizes) had tons of storage space, a good bed, beautiful new wood floors, and a lovely bathroom. Also, the windows are all double paned so I barely heard any outside noise at all. It was also extremely clean and there is a kiosk in the lobby that sells food and Starbucks in the morning which is nice.

Cons: It's a very, very old beautiful hotel (I believe this used to be the Hotel Tudor) and every room has a doorbell which is quaint and cute however my room's bell had a malfunction and it would ring at random times at night and in the morning which was disconcerting (thought it was a weird other guest until it rang incessantly and I pulled the door open while it was ringing to see no one there, so either it's the weirdest ghost encounter I experienced or there was a technical malfunction, you decide). Additionally, the air conditioning while great had an issue with the compressor where it would cycle off and literally make a loud slamming noise. Between the slamming and the doorbell issue, it was comically bad for a few nights but this could have been an isolated room issue.

All in all, it's a lovely hotel and the overhaul is gorgeous and the location is great for people wanting to avoid the insanity of the Times Square hotel area.

Would definitely recommend!
Location was walking distance (10 minute) down the street from Grand Central Terminal, 20 minutes walk to Bryant Park, 30 minutes walk to Time Square. Plenty of sights to take in on the way. We felt in a safe area and away from all the madness of Time Square. Plenty of wine stores, CVS, Dunkin’s and stores all around and nearby.

Rooms were all tastefully decorated in a modern design and had all toiletries supplied. Large flat screen tv. The beds were amazing!! So soft and comfortable, best beds I’ve slept in for a while… 2 blinds on windows so you have blackout. No noise from outside although very close proximity to other hotel room windows and close by apartment block, which is usual in New York, rooms were on the bigger size for New York. Ice bucket in room and ice machine on floors 8 and 14. Tea and coffee machine in room and free bottles of water whenever you wanted it. The resort tax for 4 nights was $160 non refundable and the security deposit is $100 refundable, make sure you’re prepared for this on check in. We didn’t have breakfast although we saw that breakfast was takeaway in a bag with coffee, so can’t comment on that. They let kids stay free in the bedding with the adults, no rollaways available, we had a Queen bed which was massive and plenty of room for 2 adults and 1 10 year old. Showers were powerful. Whole hotel is spotless. Special mention to our maid who cleaned 1215 and 1221, she was top notch and very attentive.

The thing that sets this hotel aside from all others is the staff, all staff were very friendly and welcoming and would go above and beyond to make your stay more enjoyable. Any request was never too much for them…. They always had a smile! The reception staff, bar staff, cleaners all very friendly. Special mention to Freddie the Bell Captain and Luis the doorman nothing was ever too much for them….. proper New Yorkers and assets to the hotel. I think if Freddie would’ve been able to drop us back to JFK he would’ve!
We felt at home at the Westgate Grand Central and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again next time I am lucky enough to be in New York. 🗽🇺🇸

It surpassed my expectations! Beautiful decor with a vintage touches - like the room doorbell! We were greeted by Jose, the doorman who made our stay even more pleasant. The front desk service was efficient, housekeeping on point, and the room, although small square footage wise, had tons of storage and was surprisingly comfortable for two people. This will become my spot when in NYC!! Only hope the price continues to be affordable. A HUGE shoutout to Jose (doorman) + Freddie (bellman) who were so attentive + welcoming. They went above + beyond to make sure we had everything we needed - super duo!!

The artsy, boutique furnishings were hard to miss as I checked in. The reception staff was friendly and efficient. They required a $100 credit card deposit which, I was told, would be reversed at check-out, given there are no incidentals.

Seamless. The 10th floor was quiet. My Luxe Queen room, though lacking in square footage, was so charming otherwise. Well appointed with fresh linens and aromatic toiletries, the icing on the cake was locating #friends on television. In the famous words of Chandler Bing, “could I be any…?” The tidy, brightly lit bathroom, room darkening shades, comfortable bed, and the vintage-modern decor made for a cozy nook to grab solid sleep after dancing the night away.

I asked reception about bottled water. As per my reservation, I was privy to two (2) complimentary bottles. This was great because there weren’t stores nearby open late. Maybe in this neighborhood, gone are the days of the city that never sleeps.

The coffee in the room was weak and the coffee machine was ancient. No worries, the lobby market had #starbucks.

Last but certainly not least, what a bummer, the lobby and market closed unusually early for NYC. I was looking forward to a cocktail or two with my family at the end of the evening. Perhaps, the recovery post-pandemic is ongoing. #essentialworkers

I cannot wait to return and enjoy an extended stay at the Westgate New York Grand Central!!

Happy travels.
