We were looking for a place to stay while exploring the parks and urban trails along the Hudson. Great places to take in views of NYC. This location was several miles away but was very reasonably priced. It is still a new hotel and was modern and clean. The staff were all friendly. The man that checked us in offered us a choice of floors and switched us to a room with a view. The lady on duty in the morning was very busy attending to breakfast and people checking out, but was very friendly. The parking lot was fairly full, but the hotel was quiet. The area felt safe. Breakfast was limited to bagels, cereal, yogurt, and fruit. My kids accidentally signed up for the faster internet and we were charged $6.95. I did not take the time to ask about a credit, but something to be careful of. Driving in this area was easy enough but the streets are narrow and the area has lots of steep hills. The hotel parking lot was a bit tricky to access. We would definitely stay here again.

****Nice hotel for visiting NYC. Wished we looked into the NJ buses system and tolls for the NJ to NY toll bridge before we booked a hotel. BUT still a nice location and a comfortable hotel.****

Comfortable and clean hotel. Front desk and housekeeping staff were nice. Rooms were clean and spacious.

Free breakfast included and was wrapped separately but was nothing special. Included milk and cereal, orange and apple juice, bagel (three different types!), jellies and peanut butter, yogurt, muffins, and coffee.

Did feel very safe as had to use room key card to enter front door after midnight and had to use room key card to select floor for the elevator before the elevator would even start moving.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn North Bergen the night before our cruise on the NCL Getaway out of Pier 88 in New York. The hotel itself is just a standard Fairfield Inn. Room was clean but the carpet looked like it needed a deep cleaning. The hotel location is a little odd not the easiest to get to, plan not to arrive between 3:30 PM and 5 PM on a Friday, the traffic is gridlocked. The hotel staff was excellent, we were checked in, given our tag for our car that we placed on the mirror and handed in our keys for the car. Very few eating establishments within walking distance which is up and down hill. The hotel did provide us with menus for a pizza parlor and Chinese takeout. We did select the pizza parlor, food was very good, delivered hot and a reasonable price. Breakfast was not bad what you would expect from a Fairfield Inn. The shuttle ride to the pier was a little rough to say the least but got us to the pier. On the return trip to the hotel the shuttle was on time but again a long ride due to traffic and congestion at the pier. We were told our car would be waiting for us in the parking lot but had to fetch it from the parking garage which was no big deal. Talking to people that booked other shuttle hotels the Fairfield is a better choice than the other hotels

The Fairfield Inn and Suites North Bergen has well-appointed rooms. The design, the furniture, and the feel are all great. Here's what I don't understand about the hotel. Why is it built in a desolate, nondescript part of town, on top of a hazardous hill? Driving into the hotel at night feels like going into a dangerous part of town. You literally drive through and past an empty railyard, poorly lit warehouse areas and rows and rows of truck trailers to find the turn into the hotel. The steepness of the hill to the hotel actually seems dangerous under severe weather conditions, or in the dark. Make sure your brakes work when you are waiting at the traffic light. Lastly, the hotel makes the guest go back outside to their car to place a handwritten parking pass on the dashboard. This should be changed. Guests don't want to go back out in the cold and the dark of your lot to put the hotel parking pass on the dash. Please just take down our vehicle's plate, and monitor the lot, which plenty of other hotels do. I did find some cleanliness issues in the bathroom, which I spoke to the front desk agent about upon check out. I looked at her name tag, and to my surprise it said she was the house keeping supervisor. She was very receptive to my feedback, but I couldn't help but think, "No wonder there's a cleanliness issue, the housekeeping supervisor is being made to work the front desk as well." Management needs to fix that, too, because that's unfair to that HK supervisor. Lastly, the breakfast was actually commendable. They have lots of individually wrapped breakfast items, which was reassuring from the COVID and contagion perspective. The room was very nice, but I'm not staying here again. Will find somewhere in a better part of town that doesn't require the housekeeping supervisor to work the front desk.

Selected this hotel as it provided service to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal and also were able to leave our car at the hotel for the duration of our trip. Hotel was very well kept and clean. The service we received at the front desk from a very nice young man by the name of Che (sp?) was excellent. Very pleasant and knowledgeable individual. The hotel security is excellent as you cannot use the elevators without your key card. This eliminates outsiders having access to the floors. The parking lot is small but since we were there for only one night, it was fine. Once we left for our trip, out car was moved to covered and secure parking lot beneath the hotel. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Both my wife and I had bed bug bites (more than 50 bites each, all over the body) after staying one night here.
It took me several emails and phone calls to talk to their manager and complain.
However, the hotel manager says the report by the pest control company that inspected the room was negative.

Hotel is very clean and comfortable. Water pressure was fine. Front desk personnel was fabulous. Not sure what would prompt some of these bad reviews.

We took the NJ bus (stop is literally across the street) to Port Authority $3.50 pp each way and it was so easy to walk to everything from there. Highly recommend!

Part of why we chose this hotel was because the website says they have a restaurant. After driving for most of the day we got there and guess what? No restaurant. We didn’t exactly feel like going out for dinner.
They did recommend a couple of takeout/delivery places but then the microwave in the room didn’t work.

After our cruise we stood outside in February for an hour and a half. We could have gotten on the 9:45 am shuttle except it never showed up. Maybe there was no 9:45 shuttle? The driver came with a bigger vehicle and picked up the 9:45 and 10:30 passengers all at the same time. I might not normally have posted a complaint about the shuttle if it was just my husband and me but we were travelling with my elderly Mother and it took her a couple of hours to get warm after we finally got back to our vehicle.

The only reason I gave any stars was their park and cruise service was decent and affordable.

Nice, pleasant hotel. Comfortable rooms, comfortable beds. Must use room key to access upper floor rooms. Very large shower in the bathroom. Room and hotel were very clean and crisp. Breakfast was labeled “light”. Included bagels, English muffins, and cereal. Juice machine was not working. A nice place for a one night stay. Maneuvering around the area was tough. You have to drive up a steep him and take a sharp turn into the parking lot

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn for 3 nights with 3 rooms (party of 11). Front desk was very helpful with busses and assistance. Breakfast was decent (all the kids liked it) and rooms were clean. Bus ride to Port Authority was around 40 mins. All in all we would definitely stay here again for our trip to the city.

The safest option for getting back to the hotel at a late hour is probably Uber or Lyft. Being that you’re not familiar with the area, and public transportation is so sporadic during the late evening hours, I wouldn’t suggest it. I’d go with Uber, Lyft or some other type of taxi service.
