Ocean Point Hotel emerges as a serene getaway, celebrated for its secluded setting and picturesque views, with the added convenience of easy airport access. Guests commend the hotel's cleanliness from the pristine beaches to the spotless rooms, which boast comfortable beds and are well-kept. The hotel's inviting atmosphere is often highlighted, as is the friendly and attentive service provided by the staff. However, some reviewers note the high cost of certain amenities and dining, and while the rooms are cozy, a few guests suggest that updates are needed.

Hotel's Favourite
We have just returned from an amazing 2 weeks at Ocean Point and we cannot speak highly enough of it
We have been coming to Antigua for 12 years but this was the first time at this hotel ,,,, and we were not disappointed
It is a small family run hotel in a mediterranean style, The owners are very visible and the attention to detail is clear to see
We had an Ocean view room on the first floor overlooking the pool - the room was spotlessly clean and serviced every day. There is no kettle but we already knew that so took our own. The bed was incredibly comfortable and there is a small fridge. Only one small bottle of water is provided on arrival but there is a 24 hour supply of chilled water in reception so it is worth taking a refillable bottle to collect it in. There is also a continuous supply of tea and coffee in reception and mugs are provided in the room to collect it
There is a small shop in reception which mainly has souvenirs
The food was amazing, It was table service which works really well. The food was beautifully presented and very very tasty, There was a good choice every night - we were on all inclusive and there was more than enough to choose from. You also have the option of paying extra for different things such as lobster or steak. It was very clear what was included and the staff were very helpful. There was a wide selection of local drinks and cocktails available and again it was very clear how it worked for AI. We are very fussy eaters and we had no problem in finding a most enjoyable and varied selection of food and drink. Breakfast was also very good and then there was lunch in the restaurant or from the bar menu. It was even served on the beach if you wanted it!
There are two beach fronts and a decked jetty along with a large pool area. There were more than enough beds and shades for everyone and no need for the nonsense of reserving spaces - you could find somewhere any time you arrived. The sea was lovely for swimming although rocky getting in in places so a pair of beach shoes wouldnt go amiss.
The beaches, although public, are really only used by hotel guests and there are days when cruise guests spend the day there too.
There is a lovely sea breeze so beware of burning!
There isnt really anything to walk to nearby in the way of bars/shops etc - but we didnt want to anyway so that was good.
We loved the fact that there was very little in the way of entertainment - it was so much nicer just chilling in the evening and listening to the waves, There is a live band 8-10 on a Tuesday - which was very good. Then the dreaded karaoke on a Friday. This was mainly half a dozen drunk people screeching in to a microphone - it really brought the tone of the place down and was just awful. The second week nobody got up and sang - which was much better. If I was them I would lose the karaoke and maybe have some local musicians instead. The other 5 nights it was lovely just having a quiet drink.
Far and away the best asset of the hotel is the staff, Every single staff member we met was so very friendly and helpful - they really could not do enough for everyone.
Damon in charge of the restaurant and bar had everything running like clockwork - it was an absolute joy to watch him at work, Kellie, Tyauna and Karel in the restaurant were just lovely. Bryan who served drinks and food on the beach was great. And we have never seen anyone work as hard as Shaun the porter - always running around dealing with something - he wore us out just watching him! There were too many stand out staff members to mention - they were all just brilliant.
Overall if you want to stay in a classy well run and chilled place then this is for you.
If you need entertainment. noise and wall to wall activity then this is not the place to be,
Ocean Point exceeds its 3 star status and we are already booking for next year! Well done to all!!
Top tip - book all inclusive as the charges will soon rack up if you pay as you go

We arrived on the beautiful island of Antigua. Immigration was painless and we quickly found our transfer to the hotel.

The Ocean Point hotel was picturesque from what we could see, checkin was quick and easy and we were escorted to our room. The rooms were clean and a little tired in some areas, but we were happy with the air con, tv, free WiFi, air conditioning, iron/board (on request from reception) and clean bathroom, shower with complimentary soaps.

We were given a bottle of water each in our fridge which we refilled during our holiday at the water station in reception, (I like this). After a good nights sleep, we enjoyed a morning coffee using the kettle in the room (no milk so make sure you get some from the bar) and complimentary tea and coffee. We explored the hotel and enjoyed a lovely breakfast with the amazing view of the ocean/beach. You can enjoy the buffet or order eggs to your choice from one of the lovely staff (Debbie). If you want toast, then be patient as the toasters are old and take a while, (the hotel should invest in some new ones). The food during the holiday was good, plenty of choice throughout the week. The hotel offers themed nights which meant a small additional offering on the buffet, I expected the theme to include some evening entertainment. The hotel should improve the labelling on the buffet as I eat pasta with bacon thinking it was a vegetarian option, also breaded chicken was replaced with breaded fish and was unlabelled. You can reserve tables at the restaurant which I did on 5 March for 7pm but when we arrived, the hotel owners (who live on site) were sat at the table, we were embarrassed to say anything so we sat at another table. Although I appreciate the hotel is the owners home, we were surprised to see the owners dogs in the restaurant and the ‘kitchen’ which I’d suggest the hotel stop this as it’s not acceptable to everyone.

There is one bar within the hotel, one tiny quiet beach and another larger beach which has lots of space and plenty of vacant beds. We didn’t like groups of holiday makers joining the beach to go on boat excursions or locals taking their dogs on it, we did witness one dog urinating. The pool area is very nice and quiet but some British were reserving beds around the pool from 5am onwards.

Evenings are very quiet so most guests retire to their rooms after 21:30. It would be nice to see more than Mr Wonderful doing Karoake, some traditional Caribbean music on Caribbean night maybe. I was delighted to see all spirits were good brands such as Gordon’s Gin but the white wine was very difficult to enjoy.

There are showers in the reception toilets and these can be used on your last day. Overall, a good holiday in a relaxing environment, beautiful beach and picturesque hotel. I would come back to this hotel for another relaxing holiday and to re-charge.

We are experienced travellers, having been to Antigua 3 times and at least 25 other Caribbean islands with multiple visits. We are tolerant, but do have certain key expectations.

The Good:
This hotel is on a North shore beach a short drive to Bird Airport. Reception was very quick, friendly and efficient. We had contracted for an ocean front room and were assigned Room 213, which had a lovely view, was spartan but clean, with a functional bathroom (shower), small fridge and tv, comfortable bed and plenty of storage.
Maid service was excellent, but we do tip generously and daily.
There is one buffet restaurant, beautifully located, mostly al fresco, and serving some of the most outstanding cuisine imaginable. Some dishes can be ordered a la carte, but there is plenty of variety, freshness and quantity at the buffet, all served hot as needed.
House wines are generously served , as are specialty drinks (Guisi, an owner's friend, is a delight as she helps coordinate the service, and makes outstanding Sangria). Service is quite attentive; the restaurant is located ocean front with lovely views.
There is a generous sized swimming pool, well maintained, 3 beach areas all with plenty of comfortable lounge chairs and all within easy reach of the one bar which was never busy and was a focal point in the late afternoon and evening when live entertainment was occasionally offered.
Grounds are clean and well-maintained. Ocean swimming is convenient off the beach, but snorkelling was poor. Trips to other locales can be arranged from the in house tour desk or travel rep.
Check out was fast and we were able to delay it as our flight was delayed. Nick at reception proved helpful when we were presented with a Sunwing foulup.
This hotel offers a relaxed atmosphere....not for party animals, but the rest of beautiful Antigua awaits you if you prefer a more frenetic pace.

The Bad:
There is one, if not two little yappy dogs who seem to be resident. One animal woke me on two different days at 6 a.m. I also found the dog wandering about the restaurant and threatening to enter the kitchen/food preparation area (I had it removed). Of course, this is totally unacceptable, unhygienic and rude: family pets should be kept at home, not allowed to intrude in the domain of paying guests. This needs to cease STAT.
WiFi was unreliable, sometimes available in the room, sometimes not, but there were hubs where it was strong all the time.
The was a strong odour of sewage near the beach (not necessarily emanating from the hotel itself). and a pungent odour in the bathroom, hard to identify but perhaps from the water in the traps.
Our room was advertised as ocean front.....but NONE of the rooms qualify as ocean front, although they do have lovely ocean views. This is deceptive advertising: standing between our room and the ocean were a large gazebo, a swimming pool, a walkway, a spa roof, the bar/restaurant, and a beach. Only a beach, walkway and maybe some landscaping would qualify.

In regards to the dog being in the restaurant and entering the kitchen, thank you for bringing this to our attention as this will not happen again. Bring a thermas reusable cup as they supply you with 1 plastic bottle of water that you need to refill in the lobby for the entire week. Front desk staff goes home early so hopefully you dont have issues with your lights or smoke detectors or broken glass after hours like we did. Bring your own soap and shampoo as they supply 4 small bars and dont refill them. Triple check on can prices arranged by front desk as we were double charged. Stick to the smaller beach as larger one always smells of raw sewage. Be prepared to reserve your beach chair by 5am as seating is limited. Food was better than most places we have stayed and location was quiet and child free but beware of university students dorm next door who like to party till 4am. This resort was 3 stars at best :( we wont be back.

Dear Singleparentravel, Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay here at Ocean Point. I would like to answer you point by point, starting with the bottles of water. we are trying, in our small way, to help the environment to reduce the consumption of plastic and in this case the bottles of water. We do this informing our guests that the 2 bottles in the room can be filled directly by the water dispensers located in the lobby and down to the bar. The same goes for the vanity set in the bathroom. No longer bottles of shampoo and/or shower gel, but natural soaps made locally without plastic packaging. We apologize on the other hand, if the maid did not replenish them. As for the price of the taxi to Fryers Beach (U$D 40 one way), first of all the front desk has not charged you anything because the payment is made directly with the driver and second of all there is a Government price list, therefore it is impossible to be charged double. Front desk opens at 7am until 10pm. After hours we have our security guards assisting the guests in early check out or late check in and any other issues. The bad smell problem on the beach has already been addressed to the maintenance who will check it right now. We appreciate though your compliments about the food, and the quietness of the place. All The Best

Very enjoyable two weeks staying at this hotel with friends. The hotel is a bit tired but that does not distract from the enjoyment.
The beach is really good and swimming in the sea is lovely, hardly any seaweed and it is easy to get in and out with just a few stones which can be avoided.
Food is really good for a three star hotel.
The rooms are large and comfortable with super soft large towels in the bathroom.
We did go for walks but there are no footpaths so it pays to be careful, the best way to look round the island is by taxi.
We did an all day island tour which was good value for money ( thanks to Tready our driver) and we more or less covered the island, lovely beaches, local interest and historical sites.
Altogether a very good holiday.
Thank you Ocean Point Resort & spa

We were in Antigua at Ocean Point Resort in September of 2019 for a week.
If you want quiet then this is the place for you, not so much for us. Now it was the off season, but I am not sure that this resort would change much if it were peak season. It feels more like a bed and breakfast then a hotel or resort. I would not use the word resort to describe Ocean Point at all. The owners appear to live there, and you will be having breakfast and dinner with them and other family members visiting from Italy, or at least while we were there anyway. They also own the apartments next door so many of those tenants eat and use the beach here too. There is no entertainment, no activities or anything happening on the property nor is there anything within walking distance. They have a boat that takes people from the hotel and others to a small island not far away called Prickly Pear Island for a day of beach, lunch and entertainment. I can’t remember the cost of this.
The rooms are ok, quite small but they are clean, have a mini fridge, coffee maker, hair drier and have a nice balcony but you will need to turn off the AC unit to sit out there as they vent out that direction.
The one restaurant is a buffet that does not change much during the week. This is Italian owned so you will find pasta and bread, there was pretty much the same mix of vegetables each night one meat and maybe a fish dish with rice and French fries and potato chips. They had posted BBQ night which ended up being just hot dogs and hamburgers. So I would rate the food quality and variety only 2 out of 5. They have a small snack station by the bar each day but it only ever has pizza and cookies nothing more. There is one bar tender which was fine but your drink chose will be very limited with the all inclusive.
The beach is very nice and there are two separate areas which to choose from. One area the swimming is nicer but not enough chairs. We didn’t have an issue but again there were very few people there that week and many used the pool instead which was nice and big but needed some repair.
The snorkeling was not great there, very little happening right off the beach perhaps over at Prickly Pear Island it would be a bit better but we didn’t go.
It was easy to get a cab to go downtown just ask the front desk they will call someone for you and the cost was $15 US each way but some are willing to do it cheaper if you ask. It was close to the airport about 10 mins but there is nothing in this area at all you need a cab to go anywhere. Over all not the type we are looking for so I would only give this place 2 stars.

We stayed at this hotel last year and really enjoyed it and in my opinion I think it's even better this year. The food has been excellent, the staff are really friendly and attentive. The view from the bar and restaurant is lovely. We have never had a problem getting sunbeds on the 2 small but perfect beaches. The room is big and cleaned to a high standard every day. The shower is good with plenty of hot water . The room could do with a few more draws for clothes but that is a minor problem. I think it is good that they don't give out bottles of water every day , just reuse the bottle they do give you or bring your own and refill it from the water dispenser in reception. They don't have much entertainment but I am happy just sitting in the bar in the evening chatting and listening to background music. Once a week they do have an excellent band and people do get up and dance.Overall this is a small but charming hotel and I really do not recognise the description from the last review. I can't believe we are reviewing the same hotel.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Ocean Point for my birthday along with my partner. Our birthdays are 9 days apart. With my birthday falling on our actual stay. I must say a special mention to Rossana who via emails dealt with my initial inquiries. Took onboard my special requests, offered a small discount and arranged a bottle of sparkling wine and cookies along with some personal well wishes.

This I am sure is their policy for birthdays. However I know from experience that some hotels will charge for this enhancement.

Our room (213) was well placed offering ocean views and looking over the pool and seating area. The well placed palm trees provided privacy. Whilst made the pictures more scenic.

My next special mention goes out to Sabina on reception, whose smile, courtesy and personal attention made our brief but memorable stay even better! As I said to her “we didn’t enjoy our stay, we FULLJOY our stay!”

I would definitely stay here again or recommend the hotel to anyone wanting somewhere pleasant, relaxing and not part of a big chain. So you have more like a family run experience. All the staff we spoke with or dealt with were very accommodating and made sure we were content.

One Love

Where do I start with this hotel? There were cracks in the decking by the pool, tiles missing from the pool, uncleaned showers and awful food! It also sells itself as “caribean sea” however it is Atlantic as we were told by our cabby. By all accounts the stray cats are treated better then the paying guests here as we were left waiting at reception multiple times, let alone a woman who worked at the desk telling us an ACTUAL carribean ocean beach was a 10 minute stroll. No, that was a lie and it left me with awful sunburn and my girlfriend being harassed by dirty old men. This hotels snack bar was about as vast as an elephants memory with the same stale biscuits and chicken and mayonnaise wraps, or should I say mayonnaise and mayonnaise and chicken you get the point! Awful. On arrival we were given an opened plastic bottle and told if you want water use a fountain, now im no hotel owner but I would think from a health and safety standpoint and just basic etiquette to get your guests a bottle that has not had someone’s lips wrapped round it?! But hey ho no big deal! so we headed to our room, a swift check of our room and we were happy, until we realised that our safe was about as reinforced as a wet paper towel, our safety deposit box didn’t lock! Great so our most valuable belongings were easy pickings from the get go. A worker so valiantly tried to help but to no great luck it was however sorted on day 3! I cannot stress enough how much sleep means to me now there’s multiple factors that add to the awful sleeps in this hotel, I genuinely believe this hotel is a great social spot for mosquitos to gather in there thousands. The sheets they supply were also what I made out to be knitted together toilet paper and to add insult to injury we had two pillows. I like a silent night but that is to much to ask for at this hotel, this hotel has an amazing jazz club every night in your room!! Courtesy of your clicking symphony of a fridge. Yes the fridge clicks non stop all night. If I had to rate this hotel out of ten it would simply be a 0 this hotel is unmarkable a horrible experience!

Photos supplies are of the decking by the pool.

Dear harryhH2083BH, We appreciate the time you spent to write a review about your stay here at Ocean Point last year July. Some of the issues that you stated could have been rectified if reported to front desk while you were here. To clarify a few point that you made, no where have we indicated or sold ourselves situated on the Caribbean Sea. We do state our rooms and the hotel is in a Mediterranean style. If you made the assumption or it was not quite clear to you, with a simple phone call or email we would be able to clarify any question or concerns you may have had. We do apologize that you did not enjoy the meals and snacks offered. This could have been rectified by informing your waitress of your dislikes and perhaps the kitchen could prepare a meal of your choice. You, our guest are our main priority and ensuring your vacation and time with us goes according to your plan. We do try to assist in any way we can to enhance it and I believe the stray cats do not have this privilege. Secondly, I would like to believe that you misunderstood our receptionist as the journey from the hotel to a Caribbean sea (Dickenson Bay) is 10 mins drive as it’s almost the same distance as St John’s which is also stated on our website. We give all arriving guest brand new sealed bottles of water in their rooms and ask for you to reuse them as we are trying to eliminate the amount of plastic consumed. If you received an unsealed bottle of water this should have been reported to front desk as 2 brand new bottles of water would be immediately provided. Lastly if the safe did not seem secure we could have had maintenance done the necessary thing in order for you to feel comfortable. In each room we do a complete inspection before every arrival to ensure the room is to our standard. Each and every room has at least 4 pillows and extra pillows are based on requests. Stay Safe Management

In view of the Corona virus hanging over everyone, the staff were very good, and the hotel had a club atmosphere with everyone chatting. We were glad we were on a British Airways holiday as the Virgin passengers kept getting their flights cancelled and their rep did not turn up! Our Oceanview room was lovely and the cleaners were excellant. As the water is Solar heated, it will not be hot in the early morning, Food hygeine was very good and hand cleanser was used as you entered the restaurant (except by a French couple who refused it). The hotel condition overall was very good although not for people with mobility problems as there are a lot of steps.

The water on the hotel beach is clear but there is no reef or many fish to make it interesting for snorkeling. I recommend to rent a car and visit the “dark wood “ beach (20’ min away) on the “Caribbean side” of the island for white sand and snorkeling opportunities. Also “stingray” half a day - 60$ trip is worth it.
