Good for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Our recent stay was great and exceeded my expectations for the rate we paid.
The hotel is centrally located to Piazza Tasso, which is the central square in Sorrento. Our walk was about 12-15 minutes, depending how comfy our attire was. The entire walk is safe as there are lots of people day and night.
For those taking the ferry, the port is about a 20 min walk but it’s an easy walk bc Sorrento is pretty flat. Once you get close to the port, all you have to do is PAY to take the lift down (1 euro I think), otherwise you will need to lug your suitcases down a few flight of stairs.
About the hotel itself, let’s start with the staff which were VERY friendly. We didn’t need much help from them but when we did, they were very friendly and attentive.
Breakfast was included in our stay be we found it a little on the mediocre side, so often times just had a piece of fruit and yogurt. The yogurt was not on a cold plate, so we asked the server to grab us one that was cold and he did.
The biggest pro (at least for me) is that they have a very large gym. Now I’m not totally sure, but my guess is that this is not the hotel’s gym. I think it’s a regular gym (it’s pretty big) and the hotel contracts direct with the gym for their hotel guests. It has everything you can imagine. The cardio machines are a little rusty BUT did what it needed to.
The room is also pretty big; I mean I am not used to this in Europe and I did get a room for three, but still, I could’ve easily had four in there with comfort. The décor is bleak, BUT aside that, it was very spacious, had a balcony, safe, and fridge.
A side note: so on the first night, we sat out on the balcony and apparently didn’t close the door right. It opens out like French doors, and it also opens on just one side at a tilkt. When you close the doors, make sure to close it TIGHTLY. We went to bed and were awakened by street noise (it’s on the main strip and noise cannot be avoided). Later the next day, we realized we didn’t close the door tightly, hence there was excessive noise. Now it will still be noisy when you close the doors, but it won’t be overly loud if you close it right; that was our fault.
Oh there is a pool too but we were too busy to use it.
Also, we received a welcome drink coupon that we redeemed on our last night. That was a surprise.
Overall a great hotel and I would stay there again!

We had a great time staying in Hotel Central. the staff were extremely helpful, the breakfast was lovely fresh food, beds and rooms comfortable, and there was an excellent shower and bathroom. The location is excellent- only 10 mins walk to the train station, 15 mins walk to the port. We would definitely return.

Tops: very clean hotel, confortable beds, large bathroom with great shower, nice lady at breakfast.
Minus: my review is concerning my own expectations. I suppose if you are looking for a place to sleep, shower and have breakfast, in a clean and nice environnment, you'll be happy. But I was expecting differently. We spent the rest if our Italian stay in B&B or small hotels where people were warm, friendly, helpful. At Hotel Central, we found no atmosphere, just a cold hotel. Btw no welcome drink offered, I had to ask for it. And no communal place you can hang out and talk to people (only the reception area with a few separate chairs). Looks like they are used to welcome people on tours. When I asked where to get the local bus, reception girl had no idea as her customers and herself are not used to take it. What a terrible service in my opinion. Family room was moreover just a normal bedroom with 2 double beds, and hardly any storage. That was no proper family room. Regarding the swimming pool: there was nobody in the swimming pool except us and no service like expected. Yet they were quick enough to ask us to pay 3 euros per beach towel as hotel towels were not allowed. Also, the pool is actually not just in front of the hotel - there is a little walk on the side - but from an other hotel we seemed to share it with - not mentioned in the description. All in one, not an hotel for us.

My husband and I decided to stay in Sorrento, and since we were very tired, we decided to stay at a Hotel with restaurant/bar, pool for the kids and parking. As soon as we arrived at the Central Hotel, we were informed that the restaurant was close for dinner, and only opens for breakfast, parking wasn’t free and that the pool closes at 9:00. We took our suitcases to the room, since there was no one to help us with that. As soon as we arrived into the room, the street noise was so loud, that at the same time we tried to cancel our reservation, but we were informed that even canceling after 15 min after our checkin, we would be charged anyway. I've stayed in many hotels, some not fancy at all, but this hotel was sold to us as a luxury place when in fact it's just a roadside Motel. Save your money, unfortunately this place is not worth staying.

Wow this hotel is amazing . Really pretty with great views from the pool. The breakfast was incredible too so much choice and even had gluten free options for my mum. They were very accommodating. The rooms were spacey and the free toiletries and mini bar was a nice touch. We also had a free welcome drink per room which was very nice . The hotel staff were so nice even organising transfers, taxis and booking restaurants for us. Would definitely recommend this hotel as it’s great value for money and in a fab location 10 mins to the centre by walking.

Not the best and not the worst. First I will start with the pros: The location is pretty good, short walk to main square and shopping area. Laundry and restaurants close by. Nice roof top garden and nice pool. Breakfast was included and had good variety. Staff was nice enough.
Cons: Hours of pool weren’t great (closed ant 7:00 or 7:30) and fitness centre hours were even less great (only opened for a few hours in the morning and a few later in the day, closed Sundays).
The hotel could really listen better. I put a note on my reservation saying one guest had a peanut allergy and although it was meant to be a nice gesture, they left an entire tray of sweets in our room on our arrival and half of them contained peanuts.
Also, for a 4 star hotel, I felt that the value did not match what we paid. We were charged extra for swim towels because we returned our towels after the first day and the toiletries weren’t topped up each day even though we paid the same rate for the three nights. On the second day, son was in the shower and ran out of conditioner so I had to run down to the front desk. On the last night, I had to go down to the front desk at 4:45 am to get toilet paper. The hotel was the most expensive of our 16 days in Europe but I felt like they cheaper out on a lot.

About the points you liked less instead, first of all we apologize if your expectations were not met: the opening time of our pool for example reflects that of most of the facilities of the place. In addition, we are sorry to hear that the gym has a reduced schedule: on odd days it is open from 7:30 in the morning to 23:30 in the afternoon, a feature not very frequent among the gyms in the area. Regarding the complimentary biscuits, found at your arrival in the room, it is a kind touch of welcome that, together with the prosecco flute, we usually offer to our special guests. We apologize for not giving the proper attention to the note received and for this reason we promptly offered the guys a soft drink at our pool. We understand how important is to know the needs of the guests and make sure that they can spend a peaceful stay! The first towel is always included. The additional € 3.00 for bath towels is charged only when extras are requested and to contribute to a sustainable use it is allowed to keep them for as long as necessary. We apologize for the inconvenience of the toiletries, if not replaced correctly; we will do more attention for the future. Anyway our reception is always open and the staff is always available to assist our guests. We are sorry that you did not find the toilet paper that was regularly laid in the sink drawer. This hotel is clean and updated. Staff are friendly and attentive.
We were only in town for 1 evening, and unfortunately it was raining and gray so we did not take advantage of the pool or terrace here. We were happy to find several places to get drinks and dinner that were within a very short walking distance. The room was quite small, but suited us fine for 1 evening. The bathroom was very clean, and it was one of the only rooms we had during this trip with a functioning window. There was a wonderful sea breeze. We slept soundly. Breakfast was very good. Will be back again, hopefully to enjoy some sunshine next time!

We stayed in this hotel on a 3day trip to Sorrento! It is a fantastic hotel. Very clean, lovely comfy beds and a nice little buffet breakfast!! The staff were great. They would do anything to help us when we asked. They booked trips for us, restaurants for us, phoned and checked the boats were going to Capri before we went down as it had been raining. Very good stay - would def recommend and would 100% go back.

I emailed the hotel before arriving asking if it was possible to have a quiet room. They couldn't of been more helpful. The room was indeed very quite and the aircon was wonderful. The staff all helped with my appauling attempt at their language. A special thanks to Christina in the restaurant who showed me the gluten free cakes and kept my husband well supplied with coffee in the morning. The buffet was really good and continuously well stocked. We were made to feel really welcome at all times. The hotel was very clean , the pool refreshing and all staff were great. We were very reluctant to leave. Hope to visit again soon

The hotel is centrally located and an easy walk into town. The rooms are exactly what one should expect in Italy, smaller, clean, and efficient. There is a 5th floor rooftop, which we took advantage of each night for an evening glass of wine. The pool is large, there is ample chairs, a bar, and staff that is beyond accommodating. Speaking of the staff, from the breakfast in the morning, to the front desk, to the bartenders, to the cleaning staff - EVERY single person was friendly, interacted with you, and went above and beyond to help if you asked something or needed something. On my next trip to Sorrento, I will once again be staying at Hotel Central.

Hello, the pool is inside and far away from the main road - The whole area is very safe at night, just pay attention when you cross the road in town as motorbikes here drives very...sportly :-)
There are more places to choose from in the Sorrento area.
