"Almost Perfect"
Myself and the Mrs recently (01/02/2020) stayed at the Sugar Hotel & Spa in Green Point, Cape Town.

We arrived at the Hotel at 11:00am, which was 3 hours before the standard check in time at 14:00pm and were met by very friendly front of house staff. I asked if it was possible for an early check in to which the front of house lady advised would be possible once the current guests had checked out and house keeping had prepared the room accordingly.

We were able to check in at 13:00pm an hour early at no extra charge. The room we stayed in (Superior King) was nothing short of exquisite and very well kept, to say the least. All amenities in the room were in working order and the private plunge pool crystal clear.

My advice to the Hotel is too let clients know that the private pools have a high chlorine level which unfortunately bleached my swimming shorts and boxers as well as discolouring our jewellery (Rings and Bracelets).

We have no complaints with the dining experiences at the Hotel restaurant (Spice on Main) and truly enjoyed the spa treatment at the Hotel Spa (Steam on Main). The only oversight by the Hotel Staff was my pre-request to have a bottle of Sparkling Wine ready in my room for when we arrive as we were celebrating our 13th anniversary.

Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sugar Hotel & Spa and will certainly be staying there again in the near future.

AMAZING SUGAR HOTEL
On the afternoon of Wednesday the 7th of October 2020 my wife and I arrived at the Sugar Hotel in Greenpoint, Cape Town for a four night stay. From moment we arrived we were treated warmly and courteously till the very last minute. The ladies in the Spice restaurant were outstanding with their attention to detail in the restaurant and also their room service standard was superlative. It was also quite a breeze to move around from the Hotel to other parts of Cape Town although we spent 90% of our stay at the Hotel. One must also mention the two very friendly labradors Zara and Jack whose presence added to the ambience of the Hotel. We certainly enjoyed our breakfast which we ate happily every morning on the sun deck. It was really a great experience indeed and the hotel is very very clean and the rooms very spacious also. We will be back soon.

Wonderful hotel in a great location
Large room with plenty of space and a comfy king bed. Very quiet even though its located on one of the main roads. Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious. Perfect location in the center of the city, multiple places are walkable and a quick Uber ride to other major attractions around the city. The people were very friendly and helpful and they have the best welcoming party of 2 lazy yellow labs. Would recommend staying here.

Misleading ripoff
Although clean the description of the hotel was not accurate as what was on booking.com
Not a real reception, nor restaurant, and no lift. This should have been mentioned in the booking.com description
The spa was a joke, located behind reception behind a window.
In the bedroom we have no 7 we had rain water running in via the lights both in the bathroom and WC as well as the bedroom. Basically a free cold shower.

We left 2 days after we arrived out of our planned 10 nights there.
They refunded 50% when they would have refunded on a pro rata basis as a minimum. They didn't even apologise.
Will not recommend this to anyone. Especially that they are advertised at a premium over many far better hotels which were proper hotels.
Stop ripping people off by fake advertising...

Honeymoon in Cape Town
The Sugar Hotel has the warmest welcome ever. We were greeted by the cutest hosts, Sarah and Jack, the resident Labradors. The staff were excellent, with their attention to detail and always ready to serve us. The room was splendid with our own private pool. The staff outdid themselves with breakfast, such delicious and beautifully presented meals. The hotel's location is ideal as it was just a 5 minute drive to get to the V&A waterfront. I will definitely go back to the Sugar Hotel whenever I visit Cape Town again.

Weekend away
We bought a 2night B&B with a couples massage and dinner. The massages was already fully booked a week in advance, forfeit the massage. The 3 course dinner was extremely small. Breakfast was good.
The room was like a bunker, only a small window above the bed, impossible to see outside. Coffee machine was not working properly. Not what we expected for a weekend break, money wasted.

waiting to exhale...
All the outside noises seem to disappear once I stepped into the hotel foyer.. I was welcomed by the two beautiful sleeping golden Labradors and friendly staff.

The spa was serene and neat and all the Covid-19 health and safety protocols were in place; setting my mind at ease. Lelo is a good masseuse, her touch was gentle and the just the right amount of therapy I was looking for.

A delicious chicken pasta was waiting for me after my treatment. Albeit I was a little rushed adhering to the current curfew regulations at the time, I enjoyed having the restaurant to myself.

Thank you Hyperli and The Sugar Hotel, great value for money
I'll be back soon

Incompetent staff sugar hotel
Worst experience ever! I did not even enter the premises and had numerous issues with spa bookings.
I booked 2 appointments a month in advance, emailed the spa on Friday to confirm, they call me asking to give up my one appointment.
They call me again on Saturday only to have given my one booking away without my permission.
The lady named Bee was extremely rude and unhelpful she even cut the call on me and refused to answer when I called back.
I call the hotel reception and ask for help and another available appointment for any other day and the lady said she cannot give me an appointment for myself alone because spa bookings don't work. Like that. If that were the case then why are the hyperli vouchers structured that way! And you cannot always go as a couple! The lady said they don't take individuals and that I should get a refund.
Saturday afternoon the spa calls me to confirm the one 2pm booking and I confirm.
Sunday morning I received an sms for 1pn confirmation, I already understand the incompetencey of this establishment so I phone to find out if anything has changed. The lady lelo says it's an error of the system and my booking in still at 2pm.
Sunday 12pm Langton the so called manager phones to tell me that my appointment is at 1pm!! At this point I am beyond infuriated... He argues that my email requests a 1pm..clearly he lacks any kind of skill to understand the chain of emails and the 2 appointments that I specifically requested.
This is the most disgustingly pathetic customer service and management of staff I have experienced in one establishment without even visiting.
I will never visit this place nor ever recommend it to anyone!

Unhappy clients
We had a booking for 11 to 12
And 12 to 1pm for a massage
And then for lunch at 1 at Cuzina.
We arrived to see Cuzina no longer existed and then we were told the restaurant closes at 12 and could not accommodate us for lunch at 1.
After a series of very unpleasant and unprofessional conversations with the manager Onetime, which we want to report to Hyperli, we were not accommodated.
This is the 2nd time this venue has cancelled
The first one was for the day of the taxi strike where we were called on the morning of our appointment to.say the venue was closed .
Today no prior notice was given and we forfeited our appointments despite braving the stormy weather to arrive for it.
I strongly recommend that Hyperli ban the Sugar Hotel and its subsidiaries from further advertising on your portal - they are unprofessional and unaccountable and their customer service and communications are sorely lacking.
