This is simply the BEST place to Stay on Roatan. Close to town so you can walk there in 10 minutes, but away from the madness and crowds of the town. You CAN have both experiences whenever you want. The management team is competent and responsive to needs and requests. The site is secure and safe (thanks to their friendly security guard who is always watching the place. He is also friends with the resident cats (who help him with watch duties). The rooms are clean, airy and well- maintained. Fresh, clean filtered water for drinking and cooking is abundant in every room and in the lobby. Delicious breakfasts lovingly prepared by Catie are different every day. You really feel welcome and valued at this VRBO

We spent 9 nts in the Mangrove studio (upper room w/2 dbl beds) at Cocolobo and overall enjoyed our stay. As each unit is privately owned, the amenities will vary. Cocolobo is close to West End (5-10 minute walk): far enough away to be quiet, but close to restaurants, dive shops, etc. The road is mostly paved & well lit at night. Our unit had 2 double beds that were comfortable, although the bottom sheets need new elastic as the bed had a tendency to come unmade during the night. The kitchenette was adequate w/ basic kitchenware: an abundance of mugs, glasses & plates, but lacking in few food prep essentials as there were no prep/paring knife, lacks a toaster, cutting board, can opener, colander (Lala was great at trying to procure/borrow some of these for our use while there). Little hard to cook in the eve as the only kitchen light was a dimly lit wall sconce. Other units may be better equipped? The semi-private balcony had nice ocean views and great sunsets, hammock, & small end table & chairs. It would’ve been nice to have a table & chairs either inside or out to sit at when eating or working on a laptop. The bathroom spacious with large shower & lots of hot water. The pool area was a great place to meet fellow guests, cool off in the pool, or just hang about during the heat of the day where it was cooler than the studio. Lala was a great help: dinner reservations, restaurant suggestions, arranged in-room massages, airport transfers, etc.

My boyfriend and I wanted to spend our christmas vacation time in Roatan so we booked the hotel for 3 days and it was a horrible experience. We paid $35 for a rude guy from the hotel to picked us up from the ferry. He saw us and didn't welcomed us or anything. So we said hi to him and he didn't respond. He turned around and started walking. I want to make it clear that he didn't even say please follow me or nothing. So, we walked behind him to the car.

When we arrived to the hotel the person that welcomed us was in a hurry to leave so she was running, she threw us in the room and left. The only thing she told us before she left was "we charge $10 extra per day, if you use the A/C and if you need anything wait until tomorrow".

The room was dirty. The bath towels had a ball of hair, Im guessing from previous travelers. The bed pillows and blanket was dirty and stained. The complementary bar soap in the bathroom was open and it seemed used.

Breakfast that is promised with your stay is a joke. They don't have any kind of drink to offer but coffee. They stop serving at 9:00a.m. and they only serve one thing.

In summary, if you are looking for a great service and a comfortable stay. You need to look for something else. The only good thing was the view to the beach.

An important fact you cannot get in the beach! And there is no one in the lobby ever in case you have any questions.

My boyfriend and I were very disappointed after seeing the good reviews and getting there and experience the opposite.

Hello Teresa, You seem genuinely disappointed in your stay with us and for that I am truly sorry. It is certainly not the customer experience we strive for at Cocolobo, and as per our reviews it is very rare that our guests are not fully satisfied. Your review is so unusual in fact that it promoted me to make a thorough investigation. First thing I discovered is that we have never hosted a guest by the name of Teresa Mozqueda at the hotel. However we all remember well the recent couple whose conduct during their stay was out of the norm for a CocoLobo guest and pretty consistent with the general vibe of this review, so I’m going to take a chance that I know who you are. You arrived Roatan at 8pm December 25, 2019. Your ferry docked late due to weather. Despite the lengthy delay, our driver was waiting you at the ferry terminal as promised and carried you safely and directly to your hotel. You paid a fare of $US35 from Galaxy Wave to Went End which is standard for a private car with driver. You will note that we didn't charge you any surcharge despite the fact of your arrival so late on Christmas night (a bank holiday) and the extended wait time of your driver. The team member who checked you in literally left the table of her family Christmas Dinner to be at the hotel on your arrival and waited for you there despite your late arrival. You had a king-bed ocean-front room with view to the sea and Roatan's famous Iron Shore. You stayed for 4 nights. During that time you made no request for assistance or notified us of any issues with the room. I checked the cleaning logs and also interviewed the cleaning staff. I am complete assured that our usual protocols of fresh towels and sheets for new guests were applied in your case. As was the daily refresh clean and maid service. Additionally in 2019 we refurbished the ocean front rooms and purchased all new bed linens. There are no stains on any of them. The complementary breakfast buffet includes unlimited tea, coffee and water along with a continental breakfast. There is a full menu menu of cooked hot breakfast for the very reasonable rate of $5 per plate but you elected not to order from this. And finally, Cocolobo is ideally located on Roatan’s iron shore ensuring a stunning view with total peace, tranquility and privacy. The beautiful beach of Half Moon Bay is a short (less than 10 minutes) and very pleasant stroll away. We never have claimed to be a beach-front resort and in fact the Iron Shore property frontage is one of our major selling points. At Cocolobo we do everything in our power to ensure the satisfaction of our guests including clear up-front communication and honest transparent representations of the hotel in our online marketing material. I feel that perhaps you have been very attached to certain expectations of both Roatan and the Cocolobo property which were unrealistic. I wish you better luck with your future travel endeavors.

I stayed in the "Mangrove Bight" unit at Cocolobo and am absolutely in love with this location. From this room you have a beautiful view of the sea and privacy as you are located on the edge of the property. You'll enjoy the infinity pool overlooking the iron shore and the warm hospitality of Jeff and Lesly. Ask for recommendations on dining and activities. Katie makes delicious breakfast for you to enjoy by the pool each morning and the landscaper keeps the place looking spotless!
I Cannot wait to return to Cocolobo soon!

We stayed for an entire month! Loved it so much, we would have loved to stay more! Lodge D at Cocolobo was our home away from home.

It has everything we need. Full kitchen was great for cooking meals in, but the location is an easy walk into town for times we wanted to enjoy eating out.

So many great places to relax - comfy front porch down was my spot for a great view with my morning tea. My kids took turns reading in the hammock on the upstairs porch daily. This lodge has so much space, we were never crowded and always comfortable.

The air conditioners in the bedrooms kept us cool at night and all the lovely screens upstairs-we just left open and enjoyed beautiful breezes!

We used and love both of the pools available. The one right in front of the lodge has spa jets and was perfect for a relaxing cool down after a walk. The ocean front pool was our favorite spot to catch the gorgeous sunsets.

Everything was clean and beautiful, the staff were always helpful and friendly and the new property mangers, Jeff & Lesly quickly became new friends who we look forward to seeing again soon! Since our last visit to Cocolobo, they've made some lovely changes and are did a fabulous job helping us by making sure we had everything we needed.

We love everything about Cocolobo-location, accomodations, staff, etc. We can't wait to return!

We just stayed at Cocolobo for almost a week. My wife and I really enjoyed the wonderful ocean views and relaxing friendly vibes. The many rooms that face the ocean all have large balconies to enjoy the sunsets. It's coral rock between the resort and ocean so there in no sand beach. You can snorkel and dive in the water if you want but you need to careful on the entry points. Half Moon bay with sandy beach and snorkeling is a comfortable 10 min walk away and that's where most of the stores and restaurants/bars in West End are located. There is a small plunge pool to cool off and plenty of wooden cots to rest on. The managers Jeff and Lesly helped us with special dives and taxis and room needs. The ocean front rooms are set up like an efficiency with large frig and sink, microwave, and a hot plate for cooking. A good breakfast was included. Very relaxing and quiet place and you can't beat the ocean views and sunsets.

We have stayed at CocoLobo many times over the past few years and they never disappoint us. The resort has done many updates during the COVID closure including redoing the pool tiles and plaster and new metal roofs. The units continue to upgrade the furnishings to make the units comfortable for the guests. This is a great location; close enough to West End to easily access the stores, restaurants and dive shops but far enough away that it is quiet and peaceful.

I stayed for 8 days at Cocolobo while I was in Roatan for a dive trip. Lesly was not easy to communicate with, but since they added Cheryl, she was a gem! She was quick to respond and so helpful and friendly while on site. She was always helpful with tips and advice and had my room cleaned and fresh towels delivered anytime I asked. The rooms are comfortable, the AC worked great. Drinking water provided on site as well as kitchen supplies and a nice sized fridge in the room. Loved having a microwave and toaster oven in the kitchen as well. Cocolobo is located at the end of a quiet street so its very peaceful, but still very close to town so you can easily walk. Loved the pool and the view too! Also, loved Joanna who made the best breakfast every morning, thank you Joanna! I will definitely be back!

We have stayed here many times and will return again. The ocean view is amazing and you can fall a sleep listening to the waves crashing. I love spending time relaxing in the hammock or just sitting out on the balcony and enjoying the view. The hotel is a short walk to the Westend, where there are many restaurants and dive shops. The rooms all have kitchenettes equipped with a dual hot plate, refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. The sunsets in Roatan are always phenomenal and We usually find ourselves by the pool each evening enjoying a drink and chatting with other guests prior to walking into town for dinner. The hotel is always quite and peaceful at night and a perfect place to getaway and relax. The entire staff is wonderful and makes us feel welcome. Can’t wait to visit again!

The balconies are open, not screened and have a hammock chairs and a small table to set your foo foo drink on while you watch the sunset. No bugs in the breeze at sunset. The glass doors have screens so you can come in after dark and still have lovely warm tropical air to breathe. The washrooms are in the main lounge/deck area in the big main building and you have a bathroom in each suite with shower, sinks and toilet.

Hello...there is access to the ocean down the street at Lands End. They have a ladder but have recently started charging to gain access. Also, it is not always safe snorkeling out front due to the boat traffic. Half moon bay is just a quick walk from the hotel.
