My husband and I, and our little dog stayed for four nights on a ski package and found the place to be perfectly suited to meet all our needs at good value. We would definitely stay there again. Comfy bed, super handy kitchenette, south view was nice. Gas fireplace adds a bit of ambiance too. Great Irish pub and really nice hotel staff. Ski lockers well organized and handy. Loved that we had the option to have our wonderful pup on our ski trip with us for a reasonable surcharge. Hotel finishings dated but in decent shape and I think this helps to keep the hotel good value. The fact that the bed frames and kitchenettes are all made of custom pine makes it feel fitted to the ski village. As long as you don’t mind a short walk over to the lifts with your gear this place is a perfect spot. Very short walk into heart of village (across one street). Thanks!

Booked the room, checked in. Upon checkout got stiffed with additional $74.00 + $11.84 in taxes for "Service Fees", which I presumed was to pay for the housekeeper the next day, which I've always seen as included in the room rate, and I was not made aware of at time of booking. Ground level room, could immediately smell exhaust fumes from parkade below when I walked in to room, so that explained why bathroom fan was running when I walked in. Also being above uninsulated parkade, tile floor stayed very cold. the front desk staff wearing winter wear in the plexiglass-bubble should have been a sign of the cold to come. They have a pub, which I presume the un-uniformed younger people reading their phones at the customer side of the bar were the staff, even though there was no-one behind the bar. The dining area was closed for the duration of the stay, they served no breakfast, and You have to hike up to the village for eats. before the pub opens. Plain jane room, the fireplace doesn't give off much heat, half of the ceiling lights were out. Bed was actually a low lying murphy bed, even though the room was huge enough to put a proper bed in there. Better to spend half the money and stay in Kelowna and just drive up.

The bachelor units are better for 2 people. A family of 4 would work with the Murphy bed but it means you can’t eat on a table until the bed is put up every morning.

Bedding, bathroom and towels are clean - kitchen utensils, mini fridge, floors, tables needed a second cleaning. Carpets are not clean but hey, it’s a winter destination.

Snowboard lockers and pool are a nice addition.

There are many kids and dogs here so be prepared to wake up a little earlier.

The views at Big White are phenomenal.

So close to Big White Central village and all its amenities. It is not ski in/out as you have to cross a road but it is only a very short walk on the other side of the road. The pool and spa are fantastic with both being super warm and hot respectively. There is great games room for children. Bedrooms are a great size. I only booked at the last minute so I didn't score the best room - ground floor facing up the hill/driveway to the hotel. Maybe if I had booked earlier I would have got a better room on the other side of the hotel with better outlook and maybe higher up. But the hotel was full. The only down side with the room was probably the noise from upstairs when they checked out early and woke me up with banging of their cupboards and draws that went on for two hours from 4am to 6am. The bed was comfortable with fresh linen. The bathroom had a bad and shower. Well heated with a fire place and good sized tv. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and hospitable. The bar had a variety of events - musicians and trivia. I like the fact that the hotel was dog friendly, even though I didn't have my dog with me.

We found it to be a great property. Not fancy but great hot tub, awesome Mexican restaurant, nice staff and good clean rooms all in a fabulous location. We’d go back for sure.

It’s a great mountain to ski. Lots of powder and blue sky and the hotel is super convenient to everything.

Surprised to find this hotel is badly run down. At $156.00 per nite I expected a reasonably well managed and maintained establishment. Location and parking is OK. Problems are as follows:
Staff are generally ill-mannered and inattentive. The in-hotel restaurant refused to charge the bill to the hotel because they said the hotel was slow to pay them. The restaurant food was literally disgusting. The hot tub did not function and appeared to have no filtration. The room walls and doors are paper thin so other guests keep you awake all nite. General upkeep of the hotel common areas is very poor. The room was billed as "superior" but was adequate at best.

Before heading out to Big White at the end of January I checked out the negative reviews of the Inn at Big White on Trip Advisor, and was left wondering if I had made the best choice of the three full-service hotels on the mountain.

Luckily, my experience in no way resembled anything remotely negative and I felt compelled to type this up in order to bring some balance to the reviews.

Our room on the third floor overlooking the mountain was spacious and clean. Despite not having a hot-plate, the kitchenette was well-equipped and had everything we needed. The bathroom was large and my partner made good use of the conveniently located clothes line, which pulled out from the wall and ran parallel to the shower rod – perfect for hanging our wet bathers.

We were both impressed with the Inn at Big White’s facilities. There are ice machines on each floor, which worked out really well for our après G&Ts. The hot tub fits about 12 adults and has relatively strong jets to work those aching back muscles after a hard day on the hill. It’s also the only hotel on the mountain with a heated outdoor pool. There is a large equipment locker to store your gear as well as a reasonably sized fitness centre.

The hotel purports to be ski in/out, but it’s really a brief walk to the slopes – a street crossing is involved. It looks like the best ski in/out hotel is the White Crystal Inn, which, incidentally, has a great restaurant – The Copper Kettle.

We didn’t eat in the hotel restaurant, Carvers, but it looked alright – don’t let the other review scare you off, it seemed to be a decent restaurant offering standard fare.

The front desk staff was friendly and able to answer any queries we had. Our room was cleaned daily. One day we returned from riding and found a note stating that since ‘items of a personal nature were left on the bed’ our sheets would not be changed. The items were a few t-shirts. A word of advice: clear your bed of everything and you’ll be fine.

Overall our experience was positive and we would return to the Inn at Big White. Big White Resort has plenty of condo and vacation home options catering more to the independent traveler interested in primarily skiing and snowboarding.

Of the 3 full-service hotels, the Inn at Big White is the least expensive. Though with rates averaging $180 a night it isn’t by any means cheap (this is a ski mountain, after all). Budget travelers should consider staying in Kelowna, a 40-minute drive from the hill where there are countless hotels in ‘low’ season during the winter.

Never before did I go on a ski trip, but for my first one, I was extremely impressed. First of, it was Christmas day, so I was expecting nothing. All we wanted was a bed and close to the ski slope.
When you begin with low expectation, chances, you won't be disappointed. I cannot stress enough though, that everyone we dealt with was more than happy to go out of their way to make your our stay a great one.

The Room: This isn't 5 star, but sure is nice enough. Very clean and I was even shocked that the maid did our dishes after we came back form the morning ski. I was a bit embarrassed that we left the dishes there, but at the same time, impressed. My girlfriend told me I should go out more since they do that in all these places with a kitchen.
The noise level in the room was higher than some would prefer. I could tell you that they had small kids above us and other thing we can't talk about here ;-). For us, we spent little time in our room, and we were not going to let that ruin our stay, but I think one should know.
The Hot Tub: Not the greatest, but again, it's an economy hotel and we spent a full evening there just relaxing and chatting with other travelers.

I am going to assume you will go skiing here, because if you don't, maybe you should choose another hotel. But we could walk to the slope in less than 5 minutes, and totally ski in. We really liked that. Anytime you need help, whether on the mountain or in the hotel, there's always someone to guide you.
Even more, my girlfriend injured herself, and from getting her back to treating her it was flawless. Remember, it was Christmas day.

All in all, we would go back there any day, because of the skiing and good price.

A little concerned about the hotel when I left as some reviews were not encouraging, but we found these to be completely unfounded. We found all the staff to be extremely helpful and they even did our washing up for us each day. The room was spacious and comfortable and we all slept very well without any disturbances, I suppose one criticism would be that the rooms were not brillantly cleaned each day but were acceptable.
I suppose we were lucky in the fact that we had wifi in the room, which I think was down to us being over reception.
The other huge plus was the Irish bar in the Hotel which we found to be good value for money for food with a good atmosphere and very good staff who looked after you well.
If I were to go back to Big White I would be happy to stay here again

How to get from the hotel to the ski lift (the best way)?
Kelowna, Canada2 contributions
From the lowest level of the hotel (P2) you can walk about 100m to the edge of Hummingbird ski run. Most days you can actually ski/board down the road if there is some fresh snow. It is a short walk and is a gradual decline so it takes no effort at all. To ski back to the hotel you simply ski into the village until you reach the top of the Plaza Chair. Remove your skis/board and cross the road. Put your skis/board back on and glide down to the lowest level of the hotel. Inside the door you will find the locker room to secure your equipment. I hope this helps!

Can you cook bacon and eggs in that kitchen?
Kelowna, Canada2 contributions
Hi 137Carmel, The kitchen has an induction cooker with a single pan/pot and lid. I suppose you could prepare bacon and eggs together or you could make the bacon first and set it aside, wipe out the grease and then prepare your eggs. There is also a microwave so you could prepare one or the other in that too. It really depends how creative you are with your cooking.
