Boutique hotel with 51 rooms (4 star superior) with a very strong philosophy oriented on "Service and Quality". We are an Independent and privately owned hotel, proud to maintain an Italian charm but with a international management. The Location is the Best in Rome, just 4 minutes by foot to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain or the Pantheon. You can also walk to Piazza Navona in 10 minute. For shopping you just need to go to via Condotti or via Frattina or via della Croce in just 3/4 minutes by foot. On top of this, our street (via del Bufalo) is very save and totally quite. For who is deciding to organize a meeting in Rome, we have also 2 meeting rooms, we can host up to 80 guests. Garage with electric charge is also available.

My husband and I stayed here during Covid for 3 nights.

The hotel is very central with lots of sights, cafes and restaurants within walking distance.

On arrival we were greeted by reception staff and our temperature was taken. The staff all wore masks and were behind a screen on reception.

Hand gel was widely available to use and we were asked if we preferred we could request no one visit our room including cleaning to minimise the risk to us.

We had breakfast included which was lovely with plenty of variety.

The rooms were clean and had everything we needed.

It was quiet considering how central we were.

All the staff were friendly and helpful

We would highly recommend this hotel and stay here again. Rome is now certainly one of our favourite cities

We are very careful, and we do our best to protect all our guest. Rome as you could experience is a very safe place to travel, and now is very quiet, the right moment to come and visit this magical city.

We stayed at the Hotel Dei Borgognoni for 4 nights whilst visiting Rome. Situated within easy walking distance of all the main sites the location was perfect for us, although I would recommend a taxi from the Termini to the hotel instead of walking as the roads/pavements are not exactly great when you have big suitcases, but it is do-able. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were well equipped and clean. My wife normally suffers with backache when sleeping in a different bed but ours was amazingly comfortable so 10/10 there. Breakfast was included and there was a good selection on offer both continental and English and you could help yourself. We did see a review saying that the rooms were dated but I would say they are typically Italian and individual, but if you want posh and modern you will easily have to pay 2 or 3 times the price. We loved our room and for the price we paid had a very nice holiday and would use the Hotel Dei Borgognoni again and recommend them to our friends and family.

Ann V wrote a review Nov 2021
Before traveling to Italy, I did extensive research trying to find just the right hotels for my family. I was traveling with my elderly parents, so location was very important. Furthermore, we needed to ensure walk-in shower for my parents. Hotel Borgognoni fit the bill.

I reached out to the hotel to inquire about my needs and they immediately confirmed they could provide us with 3 rooms next to each other including one with a walk-in shower. Not only were our rooms next to one another but two of them were connecting which was quite lovely. Once I made the reservation, I immediately received confirmation and was able to login to their system and order amenities and reach out directly to concierge for assistance prior to arrival. Pamela was an absolute delight to work with and the biggest reason I would return to this beautiful hotel!

Prior to arrival Pamela helped us with dinner reservations and when we could not book a Vespa tour on the days we were in Rome, she went above and beyond with her research and found a Vespa tour that could accommodate our time in the city! When we checked in, she told us all about the tour and her lengthy discussion she had with the owner of the tour agency. Once in Rome, we quickly realized even walking short distances for my mom was an issue. Again, Pamela began her research and was able to secure a wheelchair for us to use during our visit.

The hotel itself was quite lovely. The hotel rooms were spacious, with good size bathrooms and windows that opened to the quiet little side street below. The beds were very comfortable, and the staff was able to separate one of the king size beds into two twins at our request. The rooms also had a good size television (although we never even turned it on!) and a minibar. The breakfast was traditional European service with delightful staff. We were required to wear when not eating and to sanitize prior to entering. Watching the staff with their attention to cleanliness as well as the guidelines the hotel set forth, we felt very safe. We also witnessed the staff remind guests who may have forgot their masks to use them.

Finally, the location of Hotel Borgognoni was excellent. We were situated on a very quiet street with little car traffic. We had a bar/small restaurant right out our front door and we were half way between the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. We could walk just about everywhere with ease. I have been to Rome several times and have never stayed at the same hotel or in the same location but I Hotel Borgognoni will certainly be my go-to for future travel to Roma!

Easy check in and out.

Hotel room is comfortable with a lovely bed and pillows.

Cotton buds, cotton wool and nail file in the bathroom is a lovely touch.

Shower pressure is excellent.

AC in the room was a little weak but you didn’t really need it on apart from the one day the temp reached 23 degrees c.

Housekeeping was excellent. Hotel and rooms are spotless. Stay over cleans were always done to an incredible standard.

Bar in the evening was lovely, the hotel was quiet so not a lot of people used it. Both bar tenders we met were lovely.

Breakfast we had included but didn’t have it.

Location is excellent!

The hotel has beautiful locally sourced reed diffusers, there is a shop for them in the shopping district and if you buy one you get a little free gift. All info is in the room.

We booked our return transfers with the hotel to the airport. 60 euros and an exec van turned up. You pay the transfer driver directly, and they take cash or card.

Loved our stay, thank you!

The Hotel Dei Borgognoni is in a great location for all the main attractions, with the exception of Vatican City, which is still walkable but a little further from the hotel than Spanish steps, Trevi fountain etc.
The main reason this hotel stands out from the rest is its staff. They are friendly, helpful & are very attentive. They really made our stay special.
There is a small bar that stays open until midnight. Breakfast is served from 7am until 11am and is superb, they offer cooked items like scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages. There are also baked goods and cold meats if you prefer.
Checkout is excellent as you have the room until noon without any extra charge.
There is a supermarket right next door and a wonderful restaurant directly opposite the hotel, you really won’t be disappointed if you choose to dine there.
The rooms are typically Italian, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom has all the important facilities you need for a comfortable stay; great shower, plenty of hot water, a hair dryer and complimentary toiletries if you need them. Dressing gowns and slippers are also supplied. There is a safe in the wardrobe should you need it.
It is a classic Italian hotel with a friendly ambiance that ensures you will want to return.

The hotel central location guarantees quick access to most of the « must be seen » monuments / attractions. We went to Trevi’s Fontana, Spanish Stairs but also Vaticano & Colosseo all by foot. Unlimited choice of restaurants in the vicinity from basic tratoria to more Culinary type restaurant. We relied on the advice of the hotel front desk and were never disappointed. The hotel is also close to the major shopping areas if necessary. The only improvable part would be the breakfast which does not provide the variety and freshness you would expect in this category (especially @ 22 EUR if taken outside any inclusive package). The very helpful front desk is really making up for this defficiency.

We arrived early am and the room was not ready (we did not expect it to be) They offered to store our luggage and also get a room ready for us while we had a snack. They then provided us with a buttery croissant and cappuccino which we enjoyed in the lovely airconditioned sitting area. They upgraded us to a larger room because it was the first one ready which was really nice. The room had everything we needed, bathrobe and slippers and was on the quiet side of the building. The hotel is located very near the Trevi fountain and Spanish steps and it was east to use public transportation and taxis. We loved walking around the streets and eating at the cafes nearby. The front desk is eager to help with any needs and gave us suggestions for eating and made a reservation for us at a very nice restaurant nearby. We would stay here again.

We just checked into this hotel this afternoon. We have been traveling through Switzerland, the Florence and are now in Rome for 4 nights. The front desk attendant warned us of the unpleasant odor on the fourth floor do to a recent flood but we almost gagged when we got out of the elevator...Old red carpets that smell musty and putrid. When we opened the door to our room another disappointment. The room is very small, very dated and the odor is not much better inside. The wallpaper is dirty and the bathroom is very small and tight. The little patio is surrounded by 8 foot concrete walls and our only view is up...to the rooftop of an ugly adjacent building.
We are celebrating our 30th Anniversary on this trip and my birthday tomorrow. The previous 3 hotel we stayed were absolutely beautiful and this was booked with that same idea in mind. I am absolutely disgusted right now. We asked for another room and the front desk was not receptive in any way.

The front desk always seemed bothered when we came to the desk. Not friendly. Other hotels in Italy would make change for us (hard to give taxi driver a big bill), they always refused. They gave us only one key at check in, had to ask for second key (noticed key stated 5 euro charge if not turned in, first time I saw this).Towels were thin and rough, NOT luxury hotel quality. Breakfast was disappointing, eggs cool (NOT even warm when we had breakfast at opening one morning), poor selection, fruit bowl rarely showed up (when I asked, they were still making it), Room on their website for Patio room, showed a tub, we couldn't get a tub. One night when we returned from dinner I got drops of water on my head as we entered the room. The maintenance man came and took some time, but sounded like this happened regularly and there were multiple water marks on the ceiling. We got to bed late that night. The next day we told the front desk, no "I am sorry" or offer of compensation, just ok they fixed it. Room had small corner shower. We upgraded to a patio room, surprised to see workmen on scaffolding right behind us. Should have been told about construction behind the patio room. Reservation stated "fruit in room for 3 nights or more", I guess I expected a fruit basket NOT 3 plums. It stated black out drapes, but our room did not have, it had sheers and curtains that did not close, had to use clothes pins. I am not that picky, but for a 4 star hotel, it DID NOT MAKE THE GRADE! No coffee maker in room, just kettle with decaf coffee. Only good point was the location.

We have stayed at Hotel dei Borgognoni before and were very pleased to return for stays at the beginning and the end of our land tour. We were greeted warmly by the staff and had a very nice room with a private terrace which provided a lovely outdoor setting to relax. Even though the hotel is well-located in a busy area, it was really quiet. The staff were very attentive and helpful and we were able to store some of our luggage with them while we were travelling more lightly throughout Italy. In particular, Pamela and Christina at the front desk were very helpful with our accommodation requirements, shopping information and restaurant suggestions. Overall a very enjoyable stay and we look forward to visiting again in the future. We highly recommend Hotel dei Borgognoni.

I agree with CherylP1306 regarding food and alcoholic drinks. The hotel is very strategically placed for sightseeing and eating. We just walked through the streets near the hotel and looked at menu of the restaurants and decided if we liked the items and the price. You can choose pizzeria, which have sandwiches, pizza, entree, beer wine; or look for full menu place. There are so many to choose from, it’s easy to eat cheaply if you ate light (pannini, salad, beer). We usually ate breakfast at the hotel, a late sandwich and beer where we were sightseeing, and the later we often looked for a restaurant and maybe didn’t eat a big meal and had a glass of wine with. Truthfully, I didn’t see many that looked like a lot of locals dined there. Not sure, but perhaps more locals frequented place more away from the main sightseeing attractions. There are a few nice places at the nice Piazza Navona and near the Pantheon. Also, near Santa Maria Maggiore, I think you could find some locals frequented places to eat. Via Cavour off the exit from the Forum ticket office on Via dei Fori Imperiali should be checked out for places to eat. We had a light late lunch, beers, at Ristorante Massenzio Ai Fori and cooled our heels from the hot sun after our Colosseum/Forum visit. FYI there is a laundry on Via Cavour that you can leave and pick up later, I think called lavanderia Self Service Ponto Blu. Hope this helps. Have a great trip. Hope you Get to visit Florence-it’s great!
