Just visited this weekend gone 7th till 9th March there was myself and my 13yr old son and my friend and his son we were here in madrid for a football inspired weekend with our boys so after doing some research I decided on booking the novatel madrid centre and what a choice it was I'm am so so happy with this hotel, tucked away neatly off the main road you arrive and walk in and it's beautiful the reception was big ultra modern and inviting the reception staff were very helpful and efficient the bar area/restaurant was big open space nice comfy chairs with a huge tv to watch the bar staff were very nice cheerful lot who served up some cracking drinks and snacks. The restaurant in the morning for breakfast was big very warm with a grand selection of sweet to savoury breakfast treats the staff again nice happy people. The hotel is spotlessly clean every last part of it and smells wonderfull. As we were 2 adults and two children we opted for the family room and upgraded to the family suite an was not DISSAPPOINTED we had a huge room 2 double beds 2 large screen tv's robes slippers wonderfully bathroom 2 windows which let in lots of light the beds were comfy free bottled water in the fridge a Nespresso machine and once again ultra modern and so clean it was a great choice to pick the family suite and we got it for a very good price booking directly through the hotel!!. I really would like to thank all the staff at the novatel madrid for making our stay so welcoming they really do go the extra mile for you for instance (we were taking our boys on the real madrid stadium tour and the receptionists knew there was on going work at the stadium to which I had no idea about so they phoned the stadium to make sure the tour was on as not for us to make a wasted journey) just little touches make a big difference. I am planning to return to madrid with my older son around the same time next year and will definitely be booking the novotel madrid centre excellent hotel.

I booked here for a night stop over for our family of three.
It offers very good rate in New year. We all satisfy for the room we got. It's not huge but modern and clean. The location is acceptable. But for what we paid for, I have no complain. And we are happy for choosing this hotel. But I recommand this hotel to put a sign for used glass and clean glass in the lobby or just use paper cup. I appreciate theyput free water there but without a notice. I nearly used a glass with lipstick mark to drink water. Besides this, this hotel is a good four stars hotel at a moderate rate especially the mattress is comfortable. And you know it won't go wrong if you see flight attendance checking in here in city. We will be back next time

I stayed at the Novotel Madrid Centre, checking in on New Years Eve and leaving 3 nights later. This was my 4th or 5th stay, and I am consistently impressed by the levels of service.

On the evening of NYE they had a really nice party in the main bar with a DJ, which was open to all guests, and the prices were more than fair for the occasion. I have consistently found the staff to be incredibly friendly, and have always been impressed by the service. I accidentally left my phone in the bar, and before I had time to contact the reception they had already phoned my room to advise that my phone was with the reception and I was able to collect it - this was genuinely appreciated

Accor status is consistently recognised (I am Gold) and room upgrades are provided without request. On this occasion we were given a suite with a terrace. The rooms are modern with plenty of amenities.

While I haven't tried the breakfast, or dining options, the bar is good value (about €12 for a decent bottle of wine).

The location is good. It's about a thirty minute walk to the main attractions of Madrid, there are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, as well as good options by public transport. If you have need to get to the airport, the airport bus stop is a 2 minute walk.

This hotel is my preferred choice in Madrid. It usually provides a good balance between value and price point and provides a consistent experience which I appreciate.

A very busy and noisy hotel, though it's close to Goya and O'Donnell metro stations making it a good base for exploring Madrid. Check-in staff is friendly and gave us a room right upon arrival even if it was around 10.30 am. We didn't feel special though, despite the fact we are platinum guests of accorhotels. There was no upgrade as it was a busy period between Christmas and New Year's holidays which we could understand the lack of availability. The first room given was only at the 2nd floor; a dark awful room which when we opened the door we just closed it and went back to the reception for a room change. And yes, they had more rooms available at that moment even if it was early morning as they gave us a better room immediately, a bit bigger, at the same floor. Although we appreciated the change, this second larger room was opposite the elevators in a hotel that is very big with numerous rooms on each floor and I can hardly believe they didn't have any other for us far from the noisiest spot of the floor. The room window was opening into a skylight (!). Yes, I would't have had any more expectations if we were not platinum cardholders. The room was ok, spacious, comfortable, dimmed in lighting but was not what a loyal guest would expect even if this is still not a suite. Definitely there were simple rooms, better than this. We could wait to check in later if it was to get a room on a higher floor, quieter (not opposite the elevators), and definitely with a window facing outside and not a skylight. If this is the treatment a loyal guest gets in Novotel Madrid Center then you have more choices of Accorhotels in Madrid than this one if you are a fan of the chain!
One evening returning in the room we found the window open and an awful smell of cooked food in the room. Housekeeping forgotten the window open from the morning with the result of having all the smells of the hotel kitchen in our room. Moreover, on the negatives I have to include the super slow elevators that even create queues to enter.
On the positives: comfortable bed, modern design of public areas, centrally located, friendly staff.

Overall a very average in quality stay, in a hotel that looks more like a business centre.
Disappointed.

On arrival the reception staff checked me in swiftly enough. On getting to my room I noticed they had given me a twin when I'd specifically booked a queen. As I was at the hotel for a full week I decided I needed to change rooms and they got me another room with a double bed. No help was provided moving rooms I had to drag everything around myself and bring the old key back to reception.

Room was spacious, comfy enough bed but the pillows were way too soft for my liking and you can feel the divide between the two beds that are pushed together. Shower was okay, not very powerful but good enough. Nice Ritual amenities. Iron and ironing board, coffee making facilities in the room. WiFi was excellent. Laundry service was outstanding.. put it in in the morning and by afternoon or put in after 3pm and back my afternoon the next day. All items were well cared for, washed, ironed, folded in bags or hung.

Restaurant staff were pleasant, a la carte style dining was nice food for dinner. Breakfast not so much, buffet style, very busy, crap coffee and food felt like it had been left out to go stale. It's not refreshed often enough and open to being sneezed on.. not ideal in a post pandemic world. Couldn't find any room service option which was frustrating as when you travel a lot you don't always want to dress to eat out. Great poke take out nex door - Urban Poke - so got food from there most nights in the end.

Gym small but open 24 hours and I managed to find a good pay as you go gym just 20min walk from the hotel.. Basic Fit Goya for anyone interested.. so didn't matter the hotel gym was so basic.

Negatives.. other than breakfast... if you've ever stored anything in a big warehouse storage place you'll understand what I mean when I say the hotel feels like a storage unit. Rooms are all numbered like you'd expect to find in these storage units. Very cold feeling hotel, smells funny in the room corridors and lifts are stupidly slow.. like crazy slow and sometimes just didn't even work. Worst lifts I've ever had to encounter anywhere. They say they are 4* I'd probably only grade it 3*. They are missing the basic facilities I'd expect a 4* to have, it definitely doesn't have a 4* vibe..

Unfortunately no apparent updates have been made to these rooms in years. Especially when it comes to mattresses and room offerings/comfort. Very outdated and bouncy basic spring mattresses, similar to what you would find in 1 star motels. In addition Climate control is severely restricted by the front desk. Not in a reasonable way or nothing to do with energy saving when systems are often just disabled altogether or do not function properly. You may experience a room that is too hot as a result. It can easily be resolved at reception but it will depend how helpful they are willing to be and who is attending you. Rooms are dark, even when facing the street. Dark depressing furniture. Temperamental water pressure with high and lows. Altogether Service, room comfort and food quality have decreased over a decade and need serious attention and updates. Rooms are quiet with exception of fast, self closing loud slamming doors and which direction your room is facing. There is a roof deck with a bath tub size pool, often filled with screaming children. Limited food is available there but service is absolutely terrible.Slow, non attentive, inexperienced staff. Good for a quick drink but if you must eat at this hotel, do it downstairs. The roof deck has no views, since it is fenced in. The work out facility is semi decent. Elevators are slow and very small, also have frequent mechanical issues or are overwhelmed when hotel has meetings or large groups. There is an overwhelming perfume distributed by hidden fogger machines. Headache worthy at times and designed to disguise the sometimes noticeable toilet discharge stench. Plumbing issues that have accompanied this hotel since its opening, although not all that uncommon in basements/lower floors in Spain. The restaurant/bar area is rather loud at times, has no atmosphere and no windows, since it is a basement. Service here has improved but is never consistent. Restaurant has good food for being a hotel but is not the quality it used to be. It seems too many cost cut backs have yielded to a far inferior product. Altogether not a bad place to stay for a quick visit but with many "ifs" There is no need to gamble with hotel rooms, given the very large number of hotel options in Madrid. In no way was this hotel ever 4 star worthy. Even at its best. this hotel was never more than a middle of the road 3 star hotel. Good location, many nearby shops and restaurants but then again, that is true just about anywhere in Madrid. A wonderful city to visit, while staying elsewhere

If your looking for a weekend away to Madrid then look no further and choose the Novotel Madrid in the city center. The hotel is lovely and clean, the room are decent sizes and the shower is awesome.
A special thank you to the hotel receptionist 'Sasha' who made our short weekend break amazing. Not only was she helpful and friendly she advised on historical points to see, advised how to travel around the city.

The breakfast bar is spolit for choice and the hotel is only 20 minutes away by taxi to the airport T4, €30 a great price. The hotel provides complimentary water and housekeeping is great.
This hotel has a lovely roof top bar and the food up there is amazing. Definitely worth all it's stars and the food is an excellent price.
This is a great hotel in terms of location and access to both historical venues and shopping.

While here we tried various foods such as Spanish, Indian, Thai and English . The people are friendly and getting around by metro is easy, or rentable scooters or bikes.

The tour bus is also one to do, I went for my daughter's 16th and we all had a fabulous time .... also 20 minutes by tour bus to the Royal Madrid Stadium.

From check in (what a beautiful lobby and entrance courtyard) to breakfast to pool and bar staff - the service was simply outstanding. Our children loved the gifts at check in and breakfast and we really appreciated breakfast staff letting us know when items had been restocked. The lifeguard at the pool was super helpful, offering spare goggles to a child who had forgotten them. The childrens' sofa beds were made with horrible brown blankets and we asked for quilts or duvets like the normal beds. This was done within minutes! Loved the daily complimentary water in the room. Hotel were very efficient in replying (within minutes) to our request for a quiet room and answering pre reservation questions. City Centre is a good 40 min walk away but if you turn right out of the main entrance and then take the 1st right you'll hit a pedestrianised stretch full of cafes and restaurants.

Hotel is lovely, rooms great, complimentary water, great housekeepers, most staff friendly and helpful.
Our room was clean, comfortable, modern, with great AC and a large bathroom (with nice toiletries) The breakfast and dinner buffets were both outstanding lots of variety.
If you’re a family don’t book this hotel for the pool. Children have to be quiet, not make a splash, swim without splashing and only water around the pool, even though all drinks on the terrace are served in a plastic cup.
Lifeguard really was extreme and made families with children uncomfortable. Having kids we booked this hotel because of the pool but the rules are hideous and ruined our stay. We did tell the hotel manager and his response was “I’m sorry” really helpful.
The pool is extremely small and more suited to adults that want to just stand in it. I did suggest they advertised as adults only pool.
A shame because every other aspect of the hotel was flawless
