Hotel's Favourite
This intimate, family-run (Roberto and Miguel) 17-room Hotel is a great find - smack dab in the middle of the hip Lavapies neighborhood - minutes on foot from the Museum District (including the Prado) and Atocha Station. 18 minute walk from Madrid's main squares and tourist sites, and plenty of local shopping and great ethnic restaurants all nearby.

A 2-star hotel in a historic remodeled building that behaves like a modern 3- or 4-star hotel, the Artrip's large rooms and common area are VERY clean and comfortable. Outside balconies look over the street. Literally steps away from a huge 24-hour Carrefours supermarket. Nice breakfast selections with 24-hour coffee machine in the eating area on the first floor.

The multi-lingual staff is really kind and considerate with lots of local knowledge and recommendations.

Thank you Roberto and staff; we will not hesitate to stay here again!

This is a small hotel near the Reina Sofia museum. The location is a little removed from the center of everything closer to the Puerta del Sol. The room was a little tight, but it was very clean, the shower was great, and we enjoyed that the sink, toilet, and shower were separated so that one of us could use the shower, while the other used the sink or toilet. The staff was very friendly and offered us a welcome glass of rose and a bottle of wine when we got to our room. We did not pay for the breakfast as part of the rate, but purchased it a couple of mornings. It was OK, but not great. We enjoyed the coffee machine, and the lemon cake was excellent. We would recommend the Artrip to anyone looking for good value and for a location near the Reina Sofia and Prado museums.

We stayed for four nights in early March this year (just as the coronavirus was moving into Spain). We found the room very comfortable and quiet, the breakfasts tasty and generous, and the management friendly and very helpful.

The neighborhood is very pleasant, with good choices for cafes, and with a self-service laundry across the street and a good market nearby. Hotel can also provide a pocket wifi hotspot to facilitate access to information while out-and-about in the city.

We'd stay there again in a heart beat.

Beautifully organised, high standard acommodation, very helpful reception staff available 24/7, excellent location in an interesting central area that's not 'touristy' but within walking distance of major attractions, and 5 minutes from the metro. Great value for money. A really lovely place to stay. And when my return flight was cancelled, a delightful.place to be stranded!

A beautifully small hotel, furnished with care, conveniently close to the Atocha train station and in a very comfortable location if you have to reach the Airport of Madrid.
Miguel Ángel and Fidel and the whole hotel staffs are friendly and welcoming and always available to give any travel support and information and for any question and need.
The cozy atmosphere and the complimentary coffee and juice available in the dining area make you feel like home and always more than welcome.
The rooms are comfortable and extremely cleaned. Igiene and security measures aimed to prevent Covid-19 make you feel safe even during this weird time.

Impressive small hotel. Well-maintained property. Very comfortable and clean room. I like the cozy shower room. Best location and is conveniently close to top tourist spots and train station. Hotel staffs are friendly most especially Jessica. She provided me a pocket WiFi (my international roaming was not woking) which greatly helped me to navigate around the city. Complimentary coffee and juice were available to hotel guests. Highly recommended this hotel.

Fabulous value hotel. We stayed for two nights via Expedia for under €170

Banging below during the afternoon siesta time was annoying and someone walking about in heels all night above us was trying

Lovely room but the minimalist style may not suit everyone particularly as storage space is limited. Comfortable bed. Good AC. Excellent shower. Nice balcony window onto the street which wasn’t too noisy (4th floor)

Good, friendly, knowledgeable staff man the front desk 24 hours a day

I had the pleasure of staying at this comfortable and central hotel. My luck! The location of the hotel is exceptional. One step away from the Lavapíes station in a neighborhood with several restaurants and bars. You can walk to the main attractions of the city or take the metro a couple of stations. The room was spacious, comfortable and quite nice. The air conditioning works without noise and cools immediately. There is a kettle in the room which I found very convenient. My only observation is that breakfast at $10 per person leaves a lot to be desired. It consists of cereals, coffee, fruit and yoghurt. Hotel Artrip at least have a hard-boiled egg and a croissant or similar! The hotel staff were great, they answered all my questions and I felt warmly welcome. Thank you!!

I stayed at the hotel from 26th September until 3rd October. This was the tenth time I have stayed here and it really is home from home. The last time I wrote a review was February 2019 but I also stayed in September 2019 and In May of this year. The gap of course between September 2019 and this year was entirely due to the pandemic.

After having to close for a while because of the pandemic, the hotel has continued to maintain its exceptionally high standard of care for all its guests. Some new staff, Javier and Emma have joined the reception team and they along with Roberto, Fidel and Hugo provide a welcome and go more than the extra mile to ensure the comfort and well being of its guests.

The rooms are spotlessly clean and the beds are always comfortable. I have stayed in good large hotels in countries like Australia and South Africa and the showers in all the rooms at the Artrip hotel are luxurious, better than many of those large hotels. Breakfast is always something to look forward to with excellent coffee, croissants, cereals, lovely breakfast rolls, pain au chocolat, Serrano ham, cheese and a great variety of fresh fruit.

The warmth and the professionalism of the staff is the hallmark of this hotel. Brilliantly led by the manager Miguel whose sense of humour shines through in the same way as his concern for guests and his staff. He is also happy to receive constructive suggestions for improvement. However for me there is nothing to improve! I am already looking forward to my next two visits to Madrid in 2023 and the main reason is that after a day of tourism or seeing friends in the city, I know I have a lovely room to return to and know that I can relax in a place which really is home from home. Thank you, Miguel to you and all your staff.

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Artrip. The owner and all the employees are kind, professional and helpful. Our rooms were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The hotel is centrally located, close to the the Sol, museums and the park. There are countless good restaurants and bars close by. We walked everywhere.

The coffee, breakfast, and extra offerings were amazing. One day we were offered homemade soup in the early afternoon because it was cold outside. The staff had made it for the guests. It's that kind of place!
