We travelled in April 2018 4 friends and stayed in appartments with 2 bedroom. Very spacious appartment : full kitchen, living room, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom. Perfect for friends or family travel. Note, appartment part of hotel is in separate building - ca 5 minute walk. Breakfast in in main building - ok selection. Hotel located just very good to many sightseeings and good restaurants!

This by far is one of the best experiences we have had with a hotel. We love the staff and the location is perfect to shopping and great 4star and better restaurants. As they said in an email they sent to us. This is more than just a hotel. We love the personal service we received especially at the restaurant. Thank you all for making this a great visit to Barcelona. We highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel it self is good the rooms are comfortable and the location is great my issue is with the way they treat the guests. Its my third time to stay in this hotel, asked for a late check out a couple of days before my check out, i was told to ask at the same day because they needed to be sure if there was availability which is understandable. On the day of the check out i asked and they said they had availability so i asked for the late check out and said that i was willing to pay for a late check as i needed the room for as long as possible. i had stayed in this hotel before and had a free late check out at 2.00 pm, they told me that they would make me pay 60 euros which is half a full night at this period and that i could only keep the room till 4.00 pm max, i needed the room till 5 which is only 1 hour difference but they refused. when i told them that they gave me free late check out till 2.00 pm before and this time i was paying 60 euros for only 2 hours they answered well its because you booked with booking.com if you book with us directly its much better and we can do more for you. Once that was said there was nothing more to be discussed as obviously they have different standards for their guests. Its a shame to see a nice hotel like this being run in this manner. No talent whatsoever in dealing with guests.

Dear Taher, First of all we would like to thank you for choosing Murmuri Hotel and for taking the time to give us your feedback and express your concerns. Please be assured that your opinion is taken really seriously. However, we were surprised while reading your review, because during your stay with your father you both let us know that you were enjoying your time here with us. We would like to express our apologies. We are very sorry that this situation at the end of the stay had changed your overall opinion of our hotel. As we let you know, late check-out is always based on availability and also on the hotel policy. Which says that late check-out after 3pm is charged as one whole night. As an exception, because we knew it was not your first time, we gave you an special price for the late check-out. Again, we are very sorry about the inconveniences we may have caused you. We hope you give us the opportunity to welcome you back and we remain at your disposal. Wishing you a wonderful and happy new year, Kind regards, Pol Vidal FRONT DESK MANAGER

We stayed at Hotel MurMuri three times previously and had a favorite room overlooking the Rambela. I pre-paid for the same room. We arrived to find the hotel gutted with construction trucks outside. It was not open and now the hotel will not return my money.

Alex R wrote a review Jun 2014

My wife and stayed at the Hotel Murmuri between 5 Jan to 10 Jan 2014. We stayed in the Superior Room. I have nothing bad to say about the room . If anything the room was great. Good size and comfortable. The location was good too.

However, during our stay we had a significant amount of money (the equivalent of several hundred Australian dollars in a couple different currencies) stolen from our safe (which was left open by accident during one day) by an employee of the hotel. At a top hotel like this you would imagine leaving your safe open should not make any difference because you are paying for your mind to be put at ease by staying at what we perceived to be such a high quality hotel.

The hotel manager during our stay provided acceptable customer service paying for our cab to and from the police station to make a report. The manager agreed with us that she would make a claim from the hotel's insurance to have us repaid. This was the last time I have heard from the manager. It has been 5 months and nothing! Unfortunately, since our stay we have not heard anything from the hotel manager in relation to the insurance claim she stated she would make on our behalf from the hotel. I have made countless attempts to email and call the hotel (leaving a couple messages at reception for her to call me back) but with no reply whatsoever. I feel this is my last option to force the hotel manager to respond to our correspondence and ensure the hotel repays the money that one of their employees took from us.

The way we have been treated since our stay has been terrible and left a bad taste in our mouth. We feel cheated and we feel the hotel has been acting dishonestly by not repaying us back for the stolen money (and not communicating with us). We believe we have been very patient and understanding giving plenty of time between each attempted contact with the hotel but have given up being patient and know this might be the only way we will see our money returned.

Please respond to me and stop ignoring us.

Yours faithfully,

Alex

First the pros: The hotel was very clean and nicely furnished. The linens were high quality and the bed was very comfy. The room was quiet and provided great sleeping. The rain shower in the bathroom was a real treat and they provided nice robes. The hotel is on Rambla La Catalunya, which is a quiet, upscale area of Barcelona but still within walkable distance of tourist areas. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we found the bar to be very comfortable.

Now the cons: We reserved a Privilege room and received confirmation of this reservation; however, when we went to the room (204) it did not match the description of a Privilege room. It was quite small and did not have the terrace that we had requested. I called the front desk and told them of this problem; they said they were booked up but could offer us a room (209) with an "interior terrace", which turned out to be a couple of chairs in something that looked like an air shaft. I am confused about what we were really billed for because the rates we were billed do not match our confirmation. We understand if they were overbooked but they could at least have told us the situation. We were also charged for the mini-bar which we did not use.

We had requested extra pillows when making our reservation and had to remind the front desk who said the pillows would be right up--they never showed up, but we slept well regardless. The breakfast could have been better; the buffet selection was not great. The coffee maker was quite confusing and there was no one there to show us how to use it. Everyone seemed confused by the machine and in fact it finally broke down but no one came to see if they could fix it.

So I am sorry to say that we ended up with mixed feelings about the hotel.

Dear Sherialeel, First of all, we would like to thank you for having chosen our hotel for your visit to Barcelona and thank you for spending your time to write us on TA. Thank you as well, for give us your feedback and write the cons, that will help us to improve for our future guests. Regarding your special requests, we would like to explain you that we always try to take care about the special requests of our guests, but sometimes, it´s difficult for us to give all to everybody, especially when we are fully booked. If you didn’t take anything from minibar, and you said it at the checkout time we could remove it from the bill. We are very sorry for charging this amount, but we can refund that from the bill anytime from now. We are really sorry about the coffee machine issue, we know that sometimes is hard to use it. About the breakfast staff, the waitress have many things to do like clean plats and glasses on the kitchen, do room service.. We know that is not an excuse, but maybe when you went to do your coffee the waitress was doing another things and he comes a little bit later next to you. We would like to apologize for this issue as well, we know that the coffee machine needs someone next to give some explanations. Please, feel free to contact us for any further information or assistance that you may need. We hope you can give us another opportunity in a future occasion. Sincerely, Hotel Murmuri

I had the same experience as newyorkold ("Livid" 5/23/09) almost a year later. My colleague and I arrived at the Murmuri ~ 10:30PM exhausted from a long work day and flights from Amsterdam. On arrival, we were greeted and asked inside, then we were told that unfortunately there were no rooms available (although we had both booked through American Express - our corporate travel booking agent). We were then asked to wait for a cab that would then take us their "5-star sister property." Remarkably, I recalled reading the review, and objected, but was told there was no option. On arrival at the sister property, we were greeted in a rather ambivalent manner and given our rooms. I suggested that for the inconvenience, perhaps the hotel would like to buy us a drink. I was told no, but given the option of an upgraded room. I agreed. When show to the room, I looked around and saw no windows; sure the room was big, but there were no windows, only 2 small skylights. 5-star in this case was well beyond questionable. When I objected, I was taken to a much smaller room with a window (and a view of scaffolding) that smelled oddly of bacalao, body odor, and egg. Pissed-off, but with no obvious alternative, my colleague and I went to dinner. Over dinner, we relaxed a bit and decided to switch hotels. We moved after dinner at ~ 1AM. Best decision ever.

There is no possible way I can recommend this hotel. However, he following afternoon, we did stop in to the sister hotel to speak with the manager and verify there would be no charges. She was very gracious, and a radical departure from her nighttime staff. She presented her card, and requested that next time I plan a stay in Barcelona, I call ahead and she'd guarantee a room in the Murmuri. I'm willing to give it a second chance, but will defintely not waiver from this review until that time.

Just one word, LIVID. We just arrived in Barcelona and were totally screwed in a bait and switch by hotel murmuri. Despite having made the reservation six months ago and having confirmed it last week, we arrived and were given a lame BS excuse that the computers had 'lost' our reservations (which is absurd and probably impossible). Instead of contacting us or rejecting our reconfirmation, we had to fly across an ocean to get screwed in person. Instead of a cute boutique hotel on a quieter street, we were given a really terrible, dirty room in a stuffy, charmles, Marriot-esque hotel affiliate with a view of pipes on the charmless, noisy Passeig de Gracia. The staff have done nothing to rectify the situation and have insultingly persisted in insisting that we're actually in a nicer hotel. I would not recommend this hotel under any circumstances. For your 'understated hipster hotel' experience, I would urge anyone to look elsewhere.

Wife and I stayed here for a week. Very private and excellent location -- best in Barcelona, we thought. It's like the fifth avenue of Barcelona. Very close to two subway lines, many, restaurants, and its an excellent strolling avenue with many outdoor eating options.

While there, go to: Muri (pastry), MorDisco (good restaurant), Cerveceria (tapas), Pategonia (steak), Farga (coffee and hot chocolate)...

It's a good distance from the square where the protests are. Further than we would have walked most likely. We took cabs to get to this location. Unfortunately the protests are in the more "eclectic" and fun parts of the city to visit. Best of luck on your trip
