This hostel was my home away from home over Christmas, the staff was lovely and very helpful. The hostel itself was very homey and the location was perfect! Free coffee available all day, low key but functional kitchen, nice patio, good vibes. Really enjoyed my stay here and will definitely be back! Highly recommend.

Casa Kessler is a very cute, boutique place. I am sure they are very proud of the feel and design they've given the place! It has a good location, about a 10-15 minute walk from Plaza Catalunya and there are many shops, bars and restaurants around.

The entrance is very different, walk in the big hallway, up a flight of stairs and knock on the first door. The reception were always friendly, especially the first lady who checked us in and showed us around. The communal areas for sitting, cooking and eating inside/outside were lovely and modern. We were only staying for 2 night so unfortunately didn't get chance to use them.

Our double room was decorated very cute. The shared bathrooms are very smart and clean, never actually had to share with anyone. The room was very hot, when asked if they had a fan or anything they were surprised we thought it was hot and said they'd turn the heating off. It was still pretty hot so don't know what the experience would be like in the Summer?

The hostel did get a bit noisy as there are people around but at night there was no problem getting to sleep. Wifi connection was good and it general 5* for a hostel. Would definitely stay again.

Pros:
- Clean, stylish, well equipped for a hostel
- relaxing terrace
- the 2 younger guys that work at the reception are very friendly
- we were lucky the people we got in our rooms were super nice

Cons:
- not as close to the metro as they say it is. It's at least 10-15 min walking which can be a lot after a long day touring the city but the closest metro is very practical

THIS WAS OUR EXPERIENCE WITH CASA KESSLOR: We arrived on our Honeymoon with the intention of staying 4 nights at this soo called 'Boutique Hotel' and were given keys to our 1990's style 'shabby chic' room, complete with numerous mock orniments, and 'positive affirmation' boards that would prove to be ironic given the treatment that followed. Both rooms that we viewed this day had a slight smell, like a dank toilet masked by overpowering chemicals, and were far from 'Boutique'. 'Tacky' would be an adjective better used to describe the place. So we decided that, as it was our Honeymoon, and if we were not going to forfeit our deposit, that we would leave and find something more 'us' . Soo we asked the man on duty at reception if it were OK that we cancel our booking, and if soo, would there be any financial implications to this regarding kesslors 'cancelled reservations policy' . He said it was 'no problem', and that we would not be charged and then he offered to call us a taxi. We happily left and found an amazing Hotel over looking a Gaudi rooftop for almost same price.

The following day we received a bill from kesslor for the entire cost of 4 night accomadation, over 350EURO's, which had already been taken from our credit card! We took a taxi to there straight away and asked kindly for our money back or at the very least a portion of it, as paying for 4 nights when we were told that we did not have to pay for anything is completely unfair!! This was flatly rejected by the extremely cold manageress, as too was our counter offer of splitting the fee 'fairly'. Soo we had no other option than to take the room that we had paid for, and thus save on part of this extra expense, but this too was refused bluntly as well by kesslor, soo in the end WE WERE FORCED TO PAY OVER 350 EURO FOR A ROOM THAT WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SLEEP IN!!

Naturally at the reality of this, a very uncomfortable argument broke out between us and we were physically forced out of there hostel feeling ripped off and thoroughly upset. Not a very pleasant way to be treated, especially on our honeymoon :( We would definatley not recommend supporting this buisiness, they are in our opinion greedy and dishonest, and mask there only true moto of 'Make more money' behind these pathetic affirmations of 'Love and Peace' that they truly know nothing about. There are much better places for the same money elsewhere in this beautiful city, just keep looking..

From the moment you walk into Casa Kessler you are made to feel at home. Staff is welcoming, friendly and helpful. It's as if no expense was spared to create a unique, stylish, and ultra functional Hostel. Bathrooms are numerous and impeccably clean. The showers are what you'd expect to see at a high end spa. Better than the those at the famous Blue Lagoon in Iceland. Great photography and artwork adorns the walls reminding you of things seen and places you must go as you visit Barcelona.

The owners take tremendous pride in their beautiful hostel and can often be found at reception always delivering friendly advice on the days activities. Largely due to the wonderful atmosphere at Casa Kessler I extended my stay in Barcelona from 3 to 10 nights. It was a trip of a lifetime and it would be a mistake to pass this one by while you enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer.

First the front door will tell you how much you choose well your hostel!
This place is just surreal, so much taste in every details. Stunning mix of brand new and old luxurious architecture. Plus the best bonk bed on earth. Design in metal so you wont feel the person on top if there is one. Since in my stay I was on my own pretty much to whole time. Gotta love the dead season...

We stayed in the apartment for 3 people, plenty of room with small stove also if you need to do non-heavy cooking. Staff very hospitable. Feels like a boutique hotel. Apartments are on different floors from dorm I think so it didn't feel cramped or too many people at all.

The lift is very old and does not feel that safe, so we took stairs a lot (but that is not an issue for us). Lift also does not work if someone on another floor did not close the lift grille so note if you absolutely need a lift.

Location is not that great, it is a bit on the outside of the central area but you can walk to Casa Batllo and Casa Mila. We ended up cabbing everywhere instead though as taxi is cheap.

I wanted to start out with how much I appreciated the staff, they were all very welcoming and friendly. The private suites are phenomenal, though a bit pricey. If you're staying a short time than it might be well worth it because they're spacious, clean, and lavish. After a long, strenuous day, coming back to take a shower in the large private bathroom was so delightful.

The only warnings I have are more so about the larger dorms. The 6 person dorm felt isolating and cold. Also, the atmosphere didn't seem very social. But, if you like more privacy that might be good for you!
