The hotel is superb. A 10 out of 10 stay. There is no fault. Firstly the hotel is so comfortable, quiet and classy. The customer service is excellent. The concierges Juan, Mark and Xavi do everything to make your stay as pleasant and happy an experience as possible. The rooms are spacious, warm and very relaxing. The bathroom large with a great bath and shower. Most have a living room and 2 large screen tv’s in the room. The beds are excellent and make your stay more relaxing. The whole hotel is very clean.
The breakfast is delicious with a great choice of items in the buffet. The fried breakfast made to order was another highlight.
The hotel offers room service at a very competitive price plus a dry cleaning service.
There’s a gym and out door swimming pool with a terrace. March to October would be the recommended months to swim.
The area around the hotel El Corts is as quiet and calm as the hotel. There are hundreds of restaurants and cafes in the area and many gourmet food shops. The district is very safe and not dangerous. It’s a shoppers heaven.
Within a 5-7 minute walk is diagonal with its amazing choice of shops including the Lila shopping mall and the popular Spanish department store El Corte Ingles. A lot of the most popular place in Barcelona are within walking distance but for further out places taxis or metro is recommended. There are always taxis waiting outside the hotel and the nearest metro station Hospital Clinic is 10 minutes maximum away. It’s a 20 minute taxi ride to the airport. There’s is only happy things I can say about the Gran Derby. Staying there is a happy and pleasant experience in every way. Once you’ve stayed there you’ll be determined to come back soon! Highly recommended.

So many things to love about this hotel.
1. Rooms are beautiful, much better than a 4 star American hotel room. We stayed in a junior suite and loved it.
2. Bed is pretty comfortable, shower pressure is good. 4 pillows on the bed. Love that.
3. Location is decently convenient to all the things you want to do in Barcelona if you're a tourist, without being in a super loud or scary area. We were never afraid walking to/from this hotel, even at night. It's about a 10-15 min walk to a good metro stop, and there is a cafe and a bar right around the corner.
4. Breakfast is very good.
5. Staff is AWESOME. We have literally stayed in a hotel that cost 10 TIMES as much as this one and the staff at that place wasn't as nice as the staff at Gran Derby. I have never had this much personal attention and great attitude from employees at any hotel. I made a note about a down/feather allergy and they took care of everything before we arrived. (I make this note every time I reserve a hotel room, but the staff usually just ignores it. Not so at Gran Derby.) Also, all staff members spoke fluent English. Everyone from housekeeping, breakfast staff, reception manager Juan and hotel manager Jose' were helpful, pleasant, accommodating and caring people.
In fact, we loved everything about this hotel except the noise. The location itself isn't noisy, it's that the walls are thin. We could hear our neighbors sneeze, flush the toilet, and of course talk . . . sometimes into the wee hours. I didn't mention this to the staff when they inquired about our stay because they can't do anything about the building's construction. If you're a light sleeper, you might want to rethink booking here. Otherwise, this place is far and away better than the price suggests. We spent 5 nights here and other than the noise were extremely happy.

Stayed here 4 nights and had a nice room, but with noise from HK who was next door. Staff was very friendly and pool was nice. Breakfast was OK, but not 4 star quality. Roomservice took 1,5 hours and semicold on arrival

Thanks to Juan and his well trained staff, our family enjoyed 10 nights in this hotel. Nothing was too much for them! We loved our room, 544 and 543 which had plenty of space and very comfortable beds and linens. I enjoyed coming back to a cleaned room daily. We did not buy breakfast feature as it was more exciting to go out daily and find cafes and coffee shops for cafe con leche avena (oat milk which was used everywhere!) and croissant or cheese sandwiches on amazing seeded baguettes).
We like staying in more residential areas in large cities- happy to visit the saturated touristy areas and then happier to come back to peace and quiet. The hotel is well priced for what you get. We enjoyed the robes, slippers, used the safety deposit box, mini bar used as a fridge. There is a taxi stand right outside the hotel and the main train station is a 15 minute walk. There is a pool they looked lovely but too cold for us to use. I would stay here again for location, customer service and price. It felt like home away from home.

We just can’t imagine a better quality/price ratio! Perfect location, very nice and clean rooms with an artistic and design touch, extremely friendly staff trying (and most importantly succeeding:) to fulfill all our request 24/7, tasty Cava and breakfast in bed, etc., etc.

The hotel is close enough to city centre and all the sightseeing but in a quiet street, awarding you peace and quiet at night. We had a duplex room (two rooms connected by stairs) which was perfect for the three of us as it gave us enough space and it never felt like we're on top of each other. Beds were comfortable and we all slept well in satin sheets. Staff were super helpful and catered to all our needs. We really liked the choice at breakfast!

1st room had drain problem with shower, reception were helpful at a late hour to provide a replacement room, albeit a lesser room, Booking.com was totally unclear that the “restaurant/bar” was actually room service only! Would not have booked if I’d known. Generally ok, but definitely average, so a little disappointed.

The Hotel Derby Suites is a terrific comfortable place to stay. The service is excellent and when we needed an extra blanket one was delivered right away. The amenities are lovely, such as slippers, bathrobe, drinking water, welcoming chocolates, and very nice staff. We felt welcomed and that our business was appreciated. It is easy to walk to many eateries, and local sights...the train station is about a 20 minute walk. The shower is like a nice waterfall. There is a swimming pool. It was safe.

Our room was quite spacious and very quiet as it faced the back garden and pool. The bed was large and comfortable. Extra amenities like robes, slippers, bath salts, and a red rose were a nice touch. The internet and TV stations were great. Reception was friendly and efficient. We even dipped our toes in the pool. The location is about 20 minutes farther than where we usually stay, but the neighborhood has lots of markets, places to get coffee, and is more residential than touristy.

Breakfast was around 11 euros per person per day. I booked return private transfers with hoppa which cost about 95 pounds that was return but they meet and greet you at the airport. Paella for 2 cost 30 euros ish plus drinks on top.sightseeing bus was 50 euros each but worth it.hope that helps.also restaurants tend to close and open again much later on I found.

Take the metro and after you will have like 600-700m for walking. Take the ticket for ten rides (9.50euro). Very good hotel! Follow train sign in the aeroport and ask staff where is a metro station.
