Very good location for the Camp Nou, the stadium of FC Barcelona. The hotel is very nice and quite in spite of its location in a busy area. Rooms are very comfortoble so are the beds. Huge and powerful shower. Breakfast also good. It also has a Restaunta for both luch and evening meal.

My experience was great all the way from check in until checkout. I would like to give special thanks to Alex in the reception who helped me with an urgent query during checkout. Last but not least the value for money was also very very good! I would definitely rebook or suggest to friends.

I booked the Catalonia Rigoletto after reading the great reviews on trip advisor and after being impressed at its high rating and low rates per night. When I drove up, I knew that I had been mislead. I wish I had taken a picture to caution others about what they are getting into. The neighborhood is very far away from all sights in barcelona, in a very concrete area. There was no one to help with my bags. When we arrived there was one sweaty clerk behind the desk who informed us the closest restaurant besides theirs which was very unappetizing, was 2 subway stops away. The hotel "restaurant" was an all white room with no windows and a few tables and didnt look like a legitimate restaurant, or anywhere I would like to eat. The hotel room was not cleaned properly as there was a thick layer of dust on everything and the shower smelled strongly of mildew. Additionally, we rarely saw any other guests in the hotel, it was a very eerie feeling to be walking down a new looking but dusty hallway, that was dark (motion sensor lights) and our footsteps were literally echoing. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone. I left after one night, and my trip looked up as soon as I left the hotel, which ended up costing me, since I was unable to be reimbursed for the money I had wasted at catalonia rigoletto.

Response from RigolettoCatalonia, Gerente at Catalonia Rigoletto

From Hotel Catalonia Rigoletto we would like to thank all the comments we have received from clients who have previously stayed and enjoyed the facilities, provided by the hotel. Since our opening day, in February of 2009, we have received many positive comments. This is very good for the hotel, it allows us to improve the quality of our service. However, in regards to the negative comments, recently received, we would like to clarify a couple of points; First of all, the location of the hotel, before making the reservation it is made clear to the potential guest, where the hotel is located and all the possible connecting metro lines. For this reason, it is under our obligation never to present false descriptions of the hotel. It is true that while the hotel is not specifically in the center of the city it is without a doubt one of the best, if not the best, hotels connected to all types of public transportation, while in the at the same time having a 24 hour taxi service across the street from the hotel. Also another important point which we always mention to our potential guests is that the hotel is located no more than 5 minutes (walking) away from the famous soccer stadium the Camp Nou, home to one of the best soccer teams in Europe, FC Barcelona, as well as being located in one of the most important university/educational zones in all of Barcelona. Currently the hotel tends to accommodate guests from the nearby DEXEUS Hospital, located across the street from the hotel, as well as guests from the business offices, also located in the proximities of the hotel. Nonetheless, the hotel is located in a residential zone. For this reason, one of the main characteristics of our hotel is the peaceful and quite surroundings that it provides, guests are always allowed to rest under no sort of stress. In all honesty, the Management of the hotel is very concerned and surprised by the negative comment left by the guest, for this reason, we would like to apologize for any sort of inconvenience and deeply regret that his or her experience in the hotel did not meet the expectations. We always appreciate all types of comments. Our objective is to improve the quality of our hotel, and through these comments such improvements are made.

The hotel is located near Ave. Diagonal, a major artery in Barcelona, but somewhat away from where the action is in this city. The room is excellent, yet a little small. The bathroom is 5 stars, and the price is fantastic for Barcelona, less than EUR100.
At the reception things get a little complicated, and whoever arrives by car will feel it difficult to bring the luggage to the hotel, as it is impossible to reach the lobby with the car. The underground garage is very expensive and the connection with the hotel is not always available, so be prepared.
In spite of this, I still enjoyed it, since the room/bathroom was so good.

I got there after a long transatlantic flight hot and exhausted and they let me into my room early. I turned on the A/C, showered, rested, and went to lunch in the dining room. For 8 euros, I got a salad, swordfish, asparagus and a bowl of cherries from Tarragon.

The staff spoke Catalan and Spanish and English. The bed was comfy, the towels fluffy, the outlets were convenient.

It is NOT a North American style hotel. There is no ice machine or pop machine on the floor. No coffee maker in the room. That's why there is a dining room or room service.

Small, charming, conveniently located on the subway in an affluent neighbourhood.

Visited this hotel twice in 10 days at someone's very good recomendation. Stay of one night and another of 2 nights. Facilities very good for a 3 star that borders on a four star small hotel (part of a large international chain). General facilities good for the rating (safe, mini bar, some useful toiletries, usual hairdrier etc). Room new and modern with plenty of lights (including for reading which seems so lacking in higher rated hotels). Bathroom has everything except bidet and the shower is to die for. Restaurant is small and the buffet breakfast is a plenty to set one up for the day. The bar and sitting area is quiet with a fair size plasma TV and an Internet desk. Service was good generally and key staff had a knowledge of the English language. Concierge desk always helpful with directions, suggestions and obtaining taxis - nothing seemed too much trouble. There seemed a quiet calm about the place - no children in-situ while I was there. The ceilings in the corridors were very tall that gave the hotel a feel of space and one did not fall over cleaning trollies during the day and night. Overall I would say that this is a gem in the heart of Barcelona (only 3 months old) and once discovered will be very popular indeed!! Well done to the staff and management. I shall be returning very soon!!

Stayed here with friends as part of a little lads holiday/trip to watch Barcelona at the Camp Nou vs Girona - 22-24 Sept.

Very nice hotel. Check in was nice and smooth, we were offered breakfast at a reduced rate (€11 per day, rather than €15), were provided with vouchers for a free welcome drink and the man behind the desk was more than willing to give us some local advice as to where we could get some nice tapas.

The room was a triple room - a third bed had been put in there - but there was still plenty of space for us all. Very comfortable beds, modern decor, large bathroom with monsoon shower and toiletries provided. The safe was also inclusive.

The pool area was small and on the roof top but sufficient and after midday was a real sun trap. We were fortunate that there were not too many people using it - it could soon get crowded at peak times but we enjoyed it. Towels were there for your use and the sun beds were very comfortable.

Free and good WiFi throughout the hotel.

Breakfast was very nice, lots to choose from and more than sufficient to get you started for the day. The bacon was the only let down but it’s the usual continental bacon rather than what we are used to. Definitely worth €11 though.

The location of the hotel was great. 10 minutes casual walk from the Nou Camp, 10 minutes to find traditional tapas bars and 10 minutes from the nearest Metro studio where we jumped on the line (L3) directly to Las Ramblas.

Las Ramblas was very busy on a Saturday night and great lively atmosphere. The local folk didn’t start partying till well after midnight and were still going strong when we headed home at 3am!

All in all for a city break hotel, particularly if you are going to a Barcelona game this hotel is well recommended. 👍🏻👍🏻

I always read these reviews so have finally decided to add one myself. Catalonia Rigoletto is possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed in! We didn't originally organise to go to this hotel but we put there because of a flood at another Catalonia hotel. The hotel is in the business district of Barcelona which means that it was really quiet in the nights, the room was beautiful and the staff were really polite (their English was really good). Even though the hotel is in the business district the metro station was just around the corner, the metro line being the green line went straight to Las Ramblas (5-10 mins max). Really safe area, and the room got cleaned every day.
Would definitely go to the Rigoletto again!
