We have just returned from Barcelona having been caught up in the Volcanic ash flight cancellations. We stayed here for 2 nights as we could not get further nights at our origional hotel, I have to say that I was a bit worried having read a tripadviser review saying that it was horrible but as I was so stressed out by not knowing if we would ever get home I decided to give it a go. I can honestly say that I am completely baffled as to why it should have received a bad review. On arriving at the hotel the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, they offered to take our case to the room and check in was seamless and quick. The room was beautiful, extremely modern and clean. We had booked a standard room with shower. The bed was huge and very comfortable, a comfortable chair and table were provided. The lighting was excellent and varied - no problem being able to see to read. A minibar/fridge and free electronic safe were provided and the cupboard space was ample. The room was very quiet both day and night due to thesecondary glazing. Another lovely feature was the bathroom which was all dark marble and contained a 2 headed power shower. The cubicle was so big that you could have had a party of people in there all at once if you were that way inclined!
The metro which is just round the corner is Maria cristiana. It is on a main line three stops from the main rail station and goes direct to all the tourist stops which are all in the same zone. The area of this hotel itself is lovely - quite modern as it is in the business and University section, within an easy walk there are three must sees; the Gaudi gates, a serene Monastry with some of the largest Medieval cloisters in Europe and the Royal Palace which houses 3 excellent museums all for just 5 euros. There is also a large shopping centre nearby.
As we were stuck due to the cancelled flights with very little money we decided to eat at the hotel so that we could put it on the room bill. The food was exceptional - some of the best I have had and very good value at 12 euros for 3 courses and & 7 euros for a bottle of very decent house wine. The restaurant was modern, spotless and on 2 different levels with big windows downstairs. It was very popular and as so well used.
The day I left I had to pack really quickly as my husband had gone ahead to the airport and managed to get us on an earlier flight which was leaving in 2 hours giving me just an hour to get to the airport. I was in a terrible panic but the Manager and 2 of his reception staff were absolutely brilliant, they got me a taxi within 2 minutes, carried my bag to it and even got my mobile phone working again which had jammed!!!
I don't think I'll be back to Barcelona in the near future but if I am I would definately stay at rhis lovely hotel no questions asked.

Excellent stay.
I would come back easily if I can.
One of the best stays I had in Barcelona.
All was OK and everyone was very kind.
The dinners were not excellent, but tasty. The wine selections were very interesting.

When we reached the hotel (late 11:00pm) the staff at the reception was talking on the phone.
in the beginning I presumed that was a customer but obviously it was a personal call as she was speaking Philipino.
Despite standing in front the employee and clearly showing that we want to get our room the lady was stolid having a conversation for 10mn.
The hotel is ok in general but need a serious improvement in regards customer service and cleaning.

Air con can be described as useless. Receptionist came up to show me how it works. She was like hmm it’s not working. Sent handyman who insists it is. The faintest sound ever.

Then the room stinks. Apparently the smell of the wood. It absolutely stinks. It’s not the smell of wood. Other hotels have wood and don’t stink. As soon as you open the door you smell it.

Disgusting. Don’t stay here.

Dear guest, We are very sorry the room did not match your expectations. About air conditioned, we have double checked it on that room and it is working properly. When outsite temperature is more than 34o. C and you enter for the first time in any room it takes a few minutes to refrigerate it. Anyway we apoligize for that inconvenience. Regarding the smell, we also are sorry. Every day every room is ventilated and perfumate, this is the first comment that we received about it. Thank you for your review, We wish you a pleasant summer. Best regards.

Good location. Not far away from the train station and other methods of transportation. The hotel was very clean and the beds very comfortable. The staff were nice and tried very hard to have us checked in earlier since we had a meeting at 2pm.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your nice review. Just a little note regarding to your comments, Catalonia Rigoletto is only 4 minutes, walking distance to "María Cristina" train/metro station and from there you can get to: Plaza Epanya or Sants (hight speed train station to Madrid) in 10 minutes, to Barceloneta beach in 20 minutes or to Catalunya Square in 25 minutes so we have a great hotel location! I decided to hop over to Barcelona after a work trip to Palma de Mallora. Arrived at the hotel a little before check in and the lady at the front desk was bl;e to accommodate me. Did not catch her name but she was speaking Russian to the guests after me. The room was clean and nicely appointed. The property is really close to the Camp Nou so when I needed to head over for the game it only took a 5 min walk. I slept very well that night and was able to make my flight back to London feeling refreshed and ready to go. Next time I am in town for another game I will stay here

Due to my work profile I keep visiting countries and stay in different hotel. What I have come to realize that , room , furniture, amenities do matter up to a certain extent, but beyond all this, what makes your stay good or bad is the people who work for the place. Five star to Catalonia Rigoletto on that amount. Such a entusiastic, helping proactive staff, it make you feel sooooo good. I am sorry I can't remember names of all but one person at reception who stands out is Laia. Such a pleasure to stay at this hotel. I recommend it to one and all. You will remember your stay in spite of small rooms and no view, it is still worth it. Go for it. Happy Stay.

And we do not know how to express our infinite gratitude. Trust us when we say we won't stop working to make your stay better and better. Best regards from Barcelona.

Within 10minutes walk from the stadium, you can go back to your hotel soon after the game. Hotel is nice, clean and staff is nice. Metro is available within 5minutes walk. No tissue and tea pot at standard room. Shower room is cool at winter.

My daughter and i had a four-night stay here. At first sight -from the outside- it looks a little disappointing but once inside it a true gem. Good styling, good food & drinks, nice and spacey room, lovely breakfast and impeccable service. From barman, waitresses to receptionists.....all extremely guest oriented that made our stay very joyful.

When I needed my black-tie suit -that I had bought one day before the trip 😉- shortened to fit it, it was offered to be done in-house. Perfect job and in time for the gala dinner delivered to the room. And that service was completely free of charge.

Price/quality ratio is right on.

Would definitely recommend to stay here!
