St. James Club & Villas enjoys a picturesque setting that many guests adore, though concerns have been raised about its environmental stewardship. While the hotel's cleanliness is generally praised and amenities like water sports and multiple dining options are popular, some travelers believe the rooms could benefit from renovation and modernization. Opinions on value for money and service quality are mixed, with some guests finding the extras costly and the service lacking in responsiveness. The atmosphere is described as both lively and outdated, depending on the area of the resort.

It’s our 7th visit (over 15 years) and I think it speaks volumes that our 18 & 19 year old are still happy to holiday with us at this beautiful location. We stay in the villas which are super comfortable and we love the fact you can have a leisurely breakfast at 10am and there are still plenty of sunbeds to pick from in various locations around the resort. We also love the activities from kayaking to pickle ball, decent tennis courts to the fantastic gym. You can be as lazy or as active as you please. Thanks to all of the team but a very special mention to chef Keeta, who went above and beyond every night we saw her to cater for my son’s gluten allergy - even bringing food to the table on buffet nights and asking the pastry chef to create a pudding especially for my son. She is an amazing asset to the team. Thanks also to Nyel for service with a smile and creating his first ever Bob Marleys for us - 10/10!

Dear valued guest, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for choosing to spend your family holiday with us for the 7th time over 15 years! It truly means a lot to us that your 18 and 19-year-old children still enjoy vacationing at our beautiful location with you. We're honored to have become a special place for your family to create lasting memories. We're delighted to hear that you found our villas comfortable, providing the perfect setting for a leisurely breakfast and offering an abundance of sunbeds in various locations throughout the resort. It's great to know that our range of activities caters to everyone's preferences, allowing you to be as lazy or active as possible. We appreciate your kind words regarding Chef Keeta, who went above and beyond to accommodate your son's gluten allergy. The chef is a treasure to our team. It's our priority to provide exceptional dining experiences for all our guests, and we're glad that Chef Keeta demonstrated her commitment to delivering outstanding service. We will make sure to pass along your compliments to her. We're also thrilled that Nyel provided you with top-notch service and his first-ever Bob Marleys. Our dedicated staff members, like Nyel, help create memorable experiences for our guests. Once again, thank you for your feedback and for being part of our extended family here at our resort. We can't wait to welcome you back for your 8th visit and continue providing exceptional service and a beautiful holiday experience. We miss you already! Warmest regards, St. James Club, Antigua

We were very happy with the resort. Our rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and quiet. The grounds were well maintained and every morning employees were working on the ocean beach removing the seaweed. During the day some seaweed washes up but it is very minimal and it doesn't interfere with your enjoyment of the beach or water. The calmer area on the other side is great for using all the water activities provided. Our suggestion would be to purchase more peddle boards as they were very popular and some broke during our stay. We found all the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. Examples of great service were a maintenance person came on Sunday morning to repair our air conditioner less than 10 minutes after we called. A staff person arrived to reset our safe within 15 minutes even when we said no need to rush. Housekeeping put a table and chair in one room for a family member to study for exams in 30 minutes after we placed the request! That is top notch customer service! The food was plentiful and good. Guests cannot expect Michelin fine dining at an all inclusive serving hundreds of people!
This is a lovely resort for adults and families. The gym is well equipped and there are tennis and pickle ball courts too. The resort is spread out and you do have to walk. If you have mobility issues or difficulty with stairs then this resort will present a challenge. We highly recommend this resort for the variety of amenities and two distinct beaches.

Wow, what a fantastic week at SJC! Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and provide really outstanding service. This was perfect for us as we weren’t interested in a big party scene, just a relaxing place with nice beach, good food and service. We definitely found it.

The resort is set on 110 acres so it doesn’t feel crowded, or overwhelming to walk places. Go to orientation on first day so don’t miss out on all the resort has to offer. Be sure to grab the botanical map at reception, the grounds are really well done.

We had beachfront room on the Atlantic side (Coco Beach), with the most amazing views we’ve ever had at any beachfront room. The wind makes the water more turbulent on this side, so less crowded with plenty of chairs, umbrellas and natural shade available. Maintenance folks work hard to keep seaweed cleaned from this beach. Momara bay side is bigger, calmer with water sports and activities. Plenty of room even with more crowds and families, lots of chairs and umbrellas. If don’t like the beach, there are great pools spread out including the adults only by Piccolo Mondo.

Food is good with both buffets and ala carte options at most meal times. Theme nights fill up so make reservations in advance. The 11-eleven is really good and not as crowded as restaurants by reception area, but all are good. Don’t overlook the coffee shop as they have snacks available 24 hours. Bar service is good with golf carts providing beach service if you don’t want to walk to the bar, drinks available at restaurants too.

Spa is amazing, with great service and nice massage services available. Be sure to walk the road up to the overlook, the views are spectacular. Fitness center is really nice, and tennis and pickle ball available.

Only curiosity is the charge for WiFi in the rooms. It’s free in public spaces but there is a charge in the room. We had some issues with it, ended up paying US$60 for it for the week. Be careful when logging in the first time.

Overall, I can’t recommend SJC highly enough!

Stayed here for 2 weeks in March in a Club Garden Room. The resort is spread over a large area so there was plenty of room to relax and enjoy the surroundings - it never felt crowded even in the main areas.

Our room was well serviced, spacious and had most items we needed. A comfortable chair in the room would be preferred but not a major issue. Fridge provided but no drinks other than the initial supply of bottled water.

WiFi is restricted to main public areas (not the beach areas) only but you could pay extra for WiFi in your room. Getting away from social media etc for a few hours is no hardship though!

The resort is set on two beaches - Coco on a wilder side and the quieter Mamora Bay, where water sports and the boat dock are set. Personally we preferred Mamora Bay. Always plenty of space and no hassle getting sun loungers on the beach. Both beaches are served throughout the day by Alfred. in a buggy carrying a good range of cold drinks. Always a welcome sight, he is so happy, friendly and smiley. Of course there are also bars a short walk away if you need them.

Five restaurants on the resort, including one that you pay extra for its fine dining experience. In the evening the Docksider provides themed buffet evenings with the others an a la carte service. You have to book for a la carte, apart from Eleven-11 (fusion grill) for which we never had to wait for a table for more than a few minutes (but we are late diners). Food quality and service to a high standard.

Most staff were friendly and extremely helpful.

The entertainment programme, especially in the evening, would benefit from a central focal point. It tended to be set in different locations (bars/restaurant and outside areas) and it was easy to miss what was going on. From our observation the evening entertainment was poorly supported as a result.

Taking account of the negatives not a 5 star rating but more than a 4! We enjoyed our stay here and would certainly return.

We stayed here for 2 weeks as a family of 4, children aged 6 & 8.
Overall the holiday was lovely. It could be a fabulous resort as it has huge potential. Just needs a few tweaks here and there.

On arrival the airport did a fab job with all the Covid restrictions as did the hotel who took mask wearing and temperature checking very seriously which was very reassuring.
Unfortunately, when we arrived our room wasn't ready and no welcome drinks or cold flannels were offered which would have really helped as we were all so hot, sweaty and tired. I had to keep asking if our room was ready, not a great start with 2 very tired children!

The resort and villas are beautifully laid out and there is so much space. If your after the true Caribbean crystal clear waters then you will be bitterly disappointed, the Atlantic beach obviously had a big seaweed problem, but everyday they were there trying to clear it up, it was definitely a never ending job. Mamora bay didn't have the seaweed issue but also didn't have the turquoise blue sea that they advertised either, which was very disappointing.

So the positives were that there were always sun beds available whenever you wanted one, beach or pool and you never had to get up early to reserve one, they were also very spaced out.
The beach bar was fab and Cressida was always so helpful and friendly. As was Dane on the beach bar buggy. I must put a request in for him though as he was on the beach all day in long black trousers etc, surely he should be able to wear shorts!! Would have also been nice if he went up past the kids pool once in a while as it was a very hot walk to the bar, plus there were no trays!

The food overall was good and offered a variety of meals. The service however, was quite slow! Especially, at the Beach Grill and Coco's for breakfast. In the evenings at Rainbow and Dockside it would have been better to have had wine on our tables in an ice bucket as they were very slow on refilling your glass. Also a wine list would have been nice.

We stayed in a 2 bed villa and the space was great and the beds were comfy but the villa was looking a bit tired and could have done with being refurbished. We also had a leak one night during storm Grace where water was dripping through from the balcony onto our bed. After using the hairdryer to dry the sheets we managed to move the bed away from the drip and called reception. They said someone would come and look the next day, no-one came but the rain had stopped so they obviously didn't see it as a problem! Our villa had reasonable WiFi and good kitchen facilities although the resort shop was pretty much out of stock from any basic food and drink items from the day we arrived.
The villa was cleaned every other day as stated
and Dawn our cleaner was lovely.

Overall, a lovely holiday but it could have been amazing if the attention to detail was there.

The resort itself..Awesome. The beachfront room..Awesome. The food and the restaurants..Awesome. The alcoholic drinks and the bar...Awesome. The fitness center..Awesome. The coffee shop..Awesome. The two beaches..Awesome. The pools..Awesome. The entire staff..Awesome.
I don't believe there is a room without at least a partial view of the ocean. The staff is super friendly, the food is very good, the drinks are made with premium liquor. The à la carte restaurants were excellent and so was the service. We had no issues booking reservations at the restaurants. The not so good.
We upgraded to the beachfront room (which I highly suggest) and I was surprised when I found myself right ON the beach - unbelievable view in the morning while drinking my coffee on my room deck. Unfortunately, the rooms do not seem to be very noise resistant. We could hear everything going on in the rooms next door and we could hear any movement coming from the room upstairs. Also, Housekeeping is hit and miss. Somedays it was done early and efficiently, other days the room was cleaned late and on 2 occasions I had to run around after toilet paper and 1 time had to run around after soap. The last day, the maid simply left with all the towels without providing us with any towels at all.
Lots of young families and elderly guests so not much entertainment at night, early to bed and early to rise.
Having said all that, I would recommend this resort and I will most likely return to this resort in the future.

Good memories linger surrounding our 4th visit to this lovely resort. We are an older couple who enjoy peaceful surroundings and pretty views; the Jr. Suites at this resort provide such a respite. We were not disappointed this time around as Room 208 was actually one we had stayed in before. It is a good location for both Dockside Restaurant and Rainbow Restaurants, as well as the lobby bar (which has been nicely renovated to let in more light). Unfortunately, Piccolo Mondo was not open this time around due to reduced crowds but still, a disappointment to us.

There is also the Beach Bar which, just this year, has been remodeled to have further choices at lunch (menu provided and sit-down service); also, the much appreciated choice of a salad bar whereby a wait person serves you from behind the salad bar (same at breakfast from the buffet). The Coffee Bar remains a great place to obtain a cold drink and snack should you desire that.

Kudos to Collette Julien at the front desk for such knowledgeable help in assistance to get a PCR test for moving onward to the island of Anguilla after our Antigua stay. The hospital (across the island from our location) wanted us to come at 5:30 a.m. for the test; Collette called and was able to book a Dr. to come to the resort at a much more reasonable time (and more convenient for us as far as location!) The cost of a round-trip taxi across the island was the same as paying the Dr. to come to us. Thank you, Collette!

Our one complaint was the additional $24 per day resort fee; while we can swallow the reason for this one time (extra expense for the resort for sanitizer equipment all over the property, etc.), we will be looking to see this charge does NOT remain in the future!

All in all, a good stay and we would consider going again, hopefully when the coronavirus is behind us all!

Very large and well kept complex with 2 beaches 1 on the atlantic side for cool breezes and 1 on the carribean side which is calm and hot along with 6 pools around the resort, not ideal for the elderley or infirm with the steep steps and slopes although golf style buggies are readily available to transport you around
Rooms were clean and presentable a little worn in areas but very comfy.
Water sports and activities are available with the best burger bar (chicken shack) right on the beach plus our drinks courier Alfred he was the best and delivered your drinks directly to your sunbed
Nice restaurants with good food catering for all, head chef Sylvester, assistant chefs and staff all great and a big thank you to the lovely ladies on the omelette station at breakfast time who were always serving with a smile. Hotel does have entertainment which we felt finished a bit early but overall could not complain.
Lobby staff all helpful, reception most ok but did feel that Collette could have been more accomodating and helpful instead of making everything a big deal when serving you
Would deffinately return and woud also recommend

Within the current season of COVID I guess we are all navigating ever changing protocols so this review should take this into account.

The resort is great with two beautiful but different beaches to choose from. We stayed in a beach front room and able to walk directly into the beach which was perfect. The rooms are spacious although they could do with some TLC as they are a little tired, ie. cracks in tiles and dirty grout. Nothing really to spoil the experience though. Food in the resort was nice especially in Eleven Eleven.and Coco’s for breakfast. The Dockside Restaurant was an idyllic location and buffet good as were all the staff. The little coffee shop nestled with the trees served beautifully prepared cakes, biscuits and obviously coffee. Lots of choice and all within the all inclusive package. This resort is not the typical cheap all inclusive holiday, it feels more personal.

Be aware that although we had an all inclusive package we had no mini bar. We did have 3 bottles of water on arrival but not replenished and advised not to drink the tap water so had to keep taking the empty bottles to the bars to ask them to be filled.

Be aware of resort taxes, charity donations and additional room cleaning charges all added to your bill at check out, NOT included in the cost holiday via your travel company. Please also note that the sanitation cost (housekeeping) is $24 USD per day but the room is only cleaned every two days. We had an additional cost to holiday for three people in one room of around £280 for 10 days.

Diving with Mamora Diving was great as it’s on site, boat awaits at the pier and the dive site was about 10 mins away. $90 USD for one tank.

Sea Kayaking round the bay was great as was the Catamarans, paddle boards and peddlos…. All free to use.

No willingness to collect cases on check out from room so hauling your cases up hill to reception in 30 degree heat was a little much but doable. Golf buggy’s all over the resort and they were happy to assist in check in just not check out.

Antigua is beautiful and feels like a true, unspoiled Caribbean island in the most part. St James’s Club was lovely just a few little things to be mindful of if visiting.

So many nice beaches to discover and marine life to meet. Pigeon Point, Galleon Bay, Long Beach. Paradise x

Our friends have been going for 23 years so we decided to give it a try! This place is paradise! On one side a windy beach! On the other a calm bay with kayaks and hobi cats!

We did the all inclusive! Definitely worth the money! Sadino was our server most meals!

Our favorite was a private 6 hour boat tour on the Calypso Cat! Where we visited multiple bays and beaches. We snorkeled, saw turtles, and starfish! Captain Ernie, Linel, Jump, and crew were amazing!

My husband went diving with the dive master twice!

We took advantage of the specials at the spa. Seneda was amazing at deep tissue massage!

Calvin and Oz would shuttle us in golf carts to our villa.

Yes it was different due to COVID and some of the restaurants were closed and an extra fee was added. However we felt very fortunate they were open and we could enjoy their Alice of paradise!

They were very strict on masks, hand sanitizer, and all food was served.

We stayed at this hotel in October 2023. They charge a room tax just as every hotel, but they also slap you with a resort tax of £25 per night for ‘hotel services’. Interesting as this is an all inclusive hotel.
