We figure any bad reviews of this hotel were given by difficult people. We stayed one night August 17. Six people in two separate rooms on the 24th floor, both clean, large rooms with a view of downtown, so nice to see the skyline lit up at night. We had no problems at ALL with either the pool reservation system or our beds. We never rolled into the middle of the bed and we are not small people. Underground parking is limited for SUVs, but we managed to get one and at $20 a day, the price was right.
One quirky issue is that at check-in we were asked to pay a $50 deposit and the entire cost of the room, which is not unusual. However, rather than taking our credit card information and holding the charges until checkout, they ran both through right away. We don't understand the immediate payment, particularly of the $50 deposit when we were paying for the entire room. Now we have a "pending" charge on our credit card that will take 5 business days to hopefully come off. We travel a lot and that's a first for us.
Other than that, it was an A-1 stay for us and we would stay there again.

Hi Ken & Louise, Thank you so much for this amazing review and for choosing Le Cantlie as your hotel in Montreal. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at the property and truly appreciate your heartfelt endorsement. We are sorry if there was any misunderstanding with the security deposit. We usually take the full payment of the room+ taxes at check-in as well as a 50$ hold on the credit card which we release at check-out. While the hold is released on our end on your check-out day, financial institutions can take a few days to process and unfreeze the amount from your bank account. Apologies if this was not properly explained to you during your check-in. Thanks again for your wonderful review and comments, we look forward to welcoming you again next time you are in town. With kind regards, Management.

This hotel is very well situated. There is the Peel Metro station that is literally a 3 minute walk away. You are also about a 3 minute walk away from Mcgill University as well as St Catherine's Street and the Eaton Center are very close.
The hotel was very clean and fairly well updated. Their kitchenettes could definitely use some love but were very workable. The beds were very comfy and the room sizes were large. We were on the 24th floor and sometimes the elevators (very small but there are 3) could be a little slow during busy parts of the day. If staying there my suggestion to you is to ask for a room on a lower floor and save time waiting for elevators. You will get a wonderful obstructed view from their rooftop which was very beautiful. Since the hotel faces other hotels your room view is not unobstructed at all like it is on the roof.
I would suggest skipping their breakfast buffet as it was NOT worth the $63 with taxes and tip that we paid. It was nothing more then a continental style buffet with sliced fruit and chesse added to it. Some room packages may come with this included but if they don't take the short walk down the street to multiple breakfast places.
We called the hotel directly to book and got the cheapest price that way.

This hotel is very nice and it's location in the middle of downtown Montreal is very convenient. My wife, two adult children, and I stayed here for our first ever visit to Montreal. Its location allowed us to walk to the Museum of Fine Arts, many restaurants, and Vieux Montreal. The hotel's staff was extremely helpful and friendly, even though we spoke almost no French. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The only complaint we have is that the bathtub drain was extremely slow. Other than that, the room met the expectations we had of this facility. The breakfast buffet offered a good selection of items and its cost was reasonable. We would definitely consider staying there again on our next trip to Montreal.

I spent a week in Downtown Montreal for a mix of business and pleasure. this hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown, in front of the beautiful McGill University. Very comfortable and boutique type of hotel. The front desk managers were also very helpful. I absolutely recommend this place for business or tourism.

I absolutely loved my Junior Suite with sofa and full kitchen for 5 nights. My 19th floor room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and updated and when I came down with a cold for the last couple of days, it was amazing to have a kettle for tea, a stove to heat up soup, and a full fridge/freezer for my ice cream, snacks, and heavy cream for my coffee. I was here for work but this hotel would also be ideal for a family trip. The location is so convenient to endless excellent restaurants and eateries, drug stores, shopping (cute boutiques or Zara/H&M), ATMS, public transportation, and the museum. This is very close to McGill so there were many affordable ethnic options just minutes away but doordash also delivered right to my door when I was too busy working to step outside. I'm not sure what other reviews are complaining about since my room was modern and clean but keep in mind that I didn't book the lowest room category. I recommend booking directly with the hotel for better service and if you find a lower rate on a 3rd party site, call the hotel and ask for that rate and room category. When I booked my Junior suite, the hotel's website offered an outstanding rate and was in Canadian dollars (so always check currency when comparing rates, etc.) Thanks for a great stay, I'd love to return with family.

I will not book here again, 1st I call to see about checking in early and they said yes for a $65 charge, that was fine, then I get there and it was a different person they said absolutely not and I had to book a different room(small and din gee) for a whole night and change in the morning to the other room( i got there at 4am and checked out of that room at 11) so I was charged a $301 for the night for being early. The next morning checked out and back into the room that I had booked online, there was a mistake on my end with the children, the room holds 6 comfortably but I had 2 extra kids, they were going to charge me $25 plus tax per child on top of $328 I had already prepaid. After bickering with them they did end up only making me pay for 2 extra children. We took our stuff to the pre-booked room and it was nice, there was a separated living area from the bedroom and a little kitchenette. We had purchased food to cook, there was a extra small pan and a small pot to cook with, nothing for the oven. We went to take pour a drink of juice into one of the mugs that were there and it was full of something hardened.

I forgot to mention that they also keep your key to your vehicle(which i have never experienced before) and after I checked out I went to my car and it had been moved, and there was damage to my rear drivers door. I was running late on time as I was travelling back to Nova Scotia and I didn't have time to go back upstairs to discuss, and I also have a rule for myself that I only talk to someone when I have the chance to calm down.

I had called numerous time when I had gotten home each time it is either never answered or the phone just hangs up, and I have emailed the app that I had booked under with a response to contact the hotel.

This is the worst customer experience that I have ever had and I do NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed four nights at Hotel Le Cantlie and our experience was nothing short of wonderful. From the front desk to housekeeping, the staff were accommodating and friendly.

The valets in the garage were superb! They were the most efficient that I have seen in a parking garage (kudos to Daniel, Sam, etc.). A bonus for the hotel was that their garage provided ‘in and out’ privileges – one rate per day, regardless of how many times you came and went.

The location was convenient, next to a Metro station and a bus stop, and we felt safe in this district. The area is mostly business buildings and other hotels and we felt secure enough to walk in the evenings.

Compared to hotels in other metropolitan cities, the prices were very reasonable. We opted for a junior suite and it included a kitchenette with utensils, oven, full-size fridge, and microwave. This came in handy on nights where we stayed in and heated leftovers.

While we didn’t dine in the in-house restaurant in the mezzanine, it must be good because it was always packed.

The water pressure in the toilet and shower was low (for my taste) but not a deal breaker. This could be a municipality thing and not hotel-specific.

I would recommend Hotel Le Cantlie and will stay there again when we return to Montreal.

The hotel stored our luggage as our cruise arrived in Port early that morning. Check-in was seamless as we made earlier reservations. The room is spacious comfortable and has everything I could ask for including a kitchenette with a small refrigerator, microwave and kitchen sink. The bed is so comfortable after having had a very firm bed on our cruise for the past week. We did not eat in the restaurant ad it was quite expensive, but a small Mexican café is just 1/2 block away around the corner. A mall with a food court is less than 10 minute walk from the hotel.

The room was average. The service was ok...except for one thing. When I drove into their valet parking I was clearly told by Daniel that my parking was included with my stay. He even told me that because we were checking in late he would not charge the other couple that was staying in our suite the full price of 25 dollars...he would only charge them 12$. They ended up not using the parking because their pick-up would not fit in the garage.
I noticed on my Mastercard statement that I was charged 25$ on the day after I checked out. I called the Hotel and asked what the charge was for, I was told the charge was for parking. I told them that it was clearly explained to me by Daniel that the parking was included in the $300 room. Daniel was a very competent sounding man. I was told by the hotel that he had been there for many years.
I was told by Rostin who was the front desk manager I spoke to when I called, who was very polite but told me he was instructed to insist that the invoice states that parking is not included. He was very polite but repeating the same talking points over and over like this was not the first time he has had the conversation. He refused to refund the 25$ charge but the most insulting thing is that this was clearly a situation that has happened repeatedly, but they take no responsibility for it. I am even thinking that this is a prearranged scam. I would hate to think what their customer service would be if there was a serious amount disputed in a charge.

The hotel is located between Mount Royal and the old downtown are of Montreal.

The room was very quiet even though it was facing the street. No view other than the large hotel across the street. Elevators were a bit small, only 2 or 3 people with luggage would fit and there was a bit of a wait for the elevator on a few times.

The room itself, bed, desk, couch looked older than the bathroom, which looked newly renovated. The shower was amazing.

There is a pool on the roof and a breakfast area on the second floor. Breakfast was not included in the price of the hotel stay. It was much more of a European style breakfast than American and quite well stocked with fresh fruit, pastries, cereals and hot items as well.

The check in and check out process was very easy. Parking was available in a garage behind the hotel and was reasonable in price. It was also a park and lock so easy to access your car if needed.

The room rate was reasonable for the area and would consider this hotel again if in the area.

Best to call the hotel. Great people there and will be very helpful I'm sure. Keep in mind when when using a debit card they are holding your cash as a deposit. Any amount held with that debit card will come from your account until they release it after your stay.
