Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Great one bedroom condo with porch looking out at the ocean. Dock close by for diver pick up. Kitchen has a fridge, dishwasher and oven with overhead microwave, plate and utensils provided. Walking distance to two eateries and at least one dive shop.

This is the 4th time we have stayed at Carib Sands Beach Resort. In the past we have stayed in 136 - it was not available for this trip, so we were able to stay in 235 which we felt lucky as it was a pretty last-minute reservation. The unit appeared to have been recently updated and is an ocean front condo. We choose this option as it is very convenient to walk right out to the dock and jump in the Brac Scuba Shack boat. (which I would highly recommend if you are planning on diving). The grounds were very nicely maintained and the few items that were not working in the condo were addressed extremely fast. The pool is always clean and there are very few people in the pool at one time. This is always a great option to stay and highly recommended. Very quiet. Renting a car while there is a great idea as there is not a restaurant on sight so going out and finding a place to eat becomes easier. Captain's Table Restaurant is right next door and very good option if you have time (1 hr+). We have used 4 D's car rental and have had great luck with them. They provide the car in the airport parking lot and you leave it in the parking lot go back to the airport. Very convenient.

We stayed in Unit 136 at the Carib Sands and it was awesome! First floor walk-out right to the ocean. A quick right, a couple steps later you are on the large pool deck. Very beautiful setting! Know that Cayman Brac is NOT Grand Cayman. It is a small, inviting island that is not built up for tourists. It is quiet, natural, and relaxing. Perfect for folks looking to really get away, explore natural shoreline, scuba dive, rock climb, and snorkel. It is not the place to go if you are looking for wide sand beaches, tons of people, big busy tourist attractions, or nightclub life. There are some good restaurants, one of which - the Captain's Table - is just about next door to Carib Sands. We walked over and ate outside there multiple times; such tasty fresh fish daily. The condo was comfortable, had a completely stocked kitchen, showers were great, fast wifi, cable/streaming TV, and a view of ocean that felt like a postcard. See my pics! I hope you get the opportunity to visit this island and explore its natural beauty.

We stayed at this new condomium resort for a week of diving. The units are well equipped and appointed with choices of one, two or three bedrooms all with water view. An excercise room is also on site. A very quiet place with a small beach and peir where Reef Divers pick you up in the morning for your dives. Restaurants are within walking distance although the choices are few. The only complaint I have would be the plumbing noises from other units above which can be common in this type of construction. From what I observed on the island, this would be the best place to stay if some suclusion and good diving is what you are looking for. We would stay here again.

We spent two weeks at Carib Sands Beach Resort on Cayman Brac over the Christmas holidays. As we like to do "our own thing" we preferred to stay at a condo property rather than a hotel.
Carib Sands is a great condominium property with a total of about 38 one, two, three and four-bedroom units located on right on the beach on the south side of Cayman Brac. The property is close to the airport, dive operators, several of the island's restaurants, the bank and grocery store. It is also close to some good snorkelling and/or shore diving locations.
There is a large, freshwater pool with a large deck for relaxing in the sun and a dock with a two-story pavillion with a couple of hammocks on the upper level, which are great for relaxing and reading when you've had enough sun.
We stayed in a ground-floor, 1 bedroom condo that had a view of the pool and the ocean. The condo was very comfortable with a queen-sized bed in the bedroom, four-piece bathroom, kitchen with full-size appliances, queen-sized murphy bed in the living room, and a patio off the living room which lead to the pool.
Although the resort was fully occupied over the Christmas holidays the unit was very quiet. We didn't hear any noise coming from the units above or beside the unit we were staying in.
Our only complaint was that on a few of the holiday days local kids just came onto the property to use the pool, which is supposed to be private. The condo office was closed, so there was nobody around to regulate the pool.
If you are looking for a laid-back, relaxing vacation and don't want to stay at a hotel I would recommend Carib Sands Beach Resort.

Just completed the third trip to Cayman Brac last October and had the opportunity to stay there for two weeks. It was a fantastic vacation and we just love staying at the Carib Sands Resort. We stayed in unit 136 each time and love the convenience of having the pool right there as well as access to the dock where Brack Scuba Shack docs their boat. There is nothing like walking right to the doc in the morning to one of the best diving operations around. High recommend them as well.
Cathy and Jeff are so responsive even when you lock your keys in the room. They are so pleasant and wonderful to work with. Cathy arranged the rental car from 4-D's rental car service and it was waiting for us at the air port. Everything is so relaxed making it a wonderful vacation.
When we return will stay with Carib Sands again.

If you are looking for a Hilton quality resort with all of the amenities, Carib Sands Beach Resort isn't the answer, but then neither is Cayman Brac. From my family's experience, Carib Sands Beach Resort is the best place to stay on the island. The condo style resort is basic, clean and comfortable. We arrived late at night and were a bit reluctant at first, but this quickly dissipated the next day. We settled in nicely and very much enjoyed our stay for a week. The basic pool and deck are private and well cared for. The dock and the associated marine life is fascinating. The view of the ocean is nice. While the beach is a bit rustic, it is typical of the island.
All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. When walking around the first morning, I ran into the maintenance man . He stopped me to shake my hand and introduce himself. The office staff tried to help with all of my requests and obtained a car for us after I figured out one was a must on the island.
One suggestion is to ask for a condo with a clear view of the ocean. Also, if you're a diver, we highly recommend that you book with Brac Scuba Shop about 300 yards down the road and boat pick up at the resort.
The reason we gave the resort 4 stars is because there are no truly 5 star locations on Cayman Brac.
We are very much look forward to the next time we can stay at the Carib Sands resort.

We stayed in Condo # 212 from May 3, 2014 to May 10, 2014. We stayed in the same Condo on our Cayman Brac trip September 2013. This condo has fabulous views, easy access, and the management is fantastic. An email was sent ahead of our trip inquiring about a crib set up, as one of the couples was bringing their baby, and upon our arrival the crib had been set up ahead of time for us. We also tried a new restaurant "Star Island", and it was great! On our September 2013 trip, we said it was going to be an annual trip, but we aonly made it 8 months before we went back, and our already planning our next trip, and will DEFINITELY be requesting and staying in Condo # 212 at Carib Sands again.

We stayed 11 days in condo #135 and loved every second of it. The condo was large, clean and comfortable and the location was perfect.....steps from the pool and dive boat, directly on the beach, and easy walking distance to four different restaurant/bar options, Kathy in the office was amazing and helped us with everything from arranging a local tour to ordering flowers for my birthday. We dove with Brac Scuba Shack (AWESOME - reviewed seperatly) and snorkled at several of the shore diving locations on days the boat was full. Our fave snorkle was right off of Scott's Dock, where we saw stingray, turtles, flounder, scorpionfish, and barracuda in addition to hundreds of different tropical fish. We were also lucky enough to see spotted eagle rays, sharks, and tarpon right in the lagoon in front of the condo!
I would highly recommend taking the local tour with Keanu (sp??)....it is free (we tipped at the end) and basically you drive around the island as he points out all of the cool sights. He s rightfully proud of his home and is full of interesting tales and facts. We even got to see some of the elusive iguanas.
As other reviewers have stated, its best to get a car. While there were a number of days we didn't need it, it was nice to be able to get out and explore the rest of the island.....there are lots of great hikes, sights, caves, and snorkle/shore dive opportunities that you would miss without one. Also, if you want to go to the market, it is about 3 hot miles to walk, so having a car was pretty much essential for that. Once you get used to driving on the left it is pretty easy...there's not alot of traffic on the brac!
Also, don't miss the smoothie truck on the way to the market...its on the left, you can't miss it....he makes awesome, fresh fruit smoothies that are perfect after a morning of diving!
We will definatly go back and absolutely stay at Carib Sands again!

My husband and I wanted a honeymoon that provided us with relaxation and that's exactly what Carib Sands provided us. The condo room we stood at was right on the beach and footsteps away from the private pool (135). We rented a car to get to know the entire island, but there are several places in walking distance (restaurant, car rent dealership, supermarket). The condo's interior was large, clean, and "homey". There wasn't a land line phone or much television stations, but that really wouldn't matter to a book reader =)
Overall, this is the best and most luxurious place to be at Cayman Brac for a reasonable price. This is also the best place to stay if you are looking to mainly relax and stay away from people and traffic! Not to mention its less than a 10 minute ride to the airport!

Cayman Brac above ground is quite nice. Many trails, caves, Parrot Preserve, park, rock climbing(if you have your own equipment), then of course the crystal water. Snorkeling, diving, fishing, beach combing or just laying in a hammock reading.
There are more places to choose from in the Cayman Brac area.
