My wife and I visited Turquoise Bay Dive resort for two weeks in March 2020 with a group of diving friends.

The resort is isolated from the rest of the tourist spots on the island, offers great diving, and takes very good care of their guests. We stayed in a room at the top of the hill with a great view looking out over the rest of the resort and the sea. The food was very good (some issues with some of the buffet items not being as hot as they should have been), the drinks were generous, and the staff were universally amazing.

It's not a luxury resort - the rooms are clean and utilitarian - we were there for diving (I've reviewed Subway Watersports separately), so we only used our room for showers and sleeping.

The beach is lovely. The cabanas over the water are beyond lovely.

Four days a week, a horde of cruise ship passengers descend on the resort for several hours during the day when the people staying at the resort are out diving. However, halfway through our vacation there, the Honduran government closed all ports of entry to Roatan due to the Covid-19 issue, which left the beach absolutely deserted. It was magical. I understand the resort is building a separate beach for cruise ship passengers to use in the future, so all resort guests will be able to experience the magic of a private beach as we were. The only downside to the beach was the sand fleas. Fortunately, the cabanas had no sand fleas at all.

We will definitely return to dive Roatan again, and when we do, we will gladly stay at Turquoise Bay Resort.

Turquoise Bay was a pleasant experience on many levels. The staff, food and accommodations were top notch with a well run dive shop on the resort. Having everything in one location makes for a better vacation however, I recommend having electronic or printed excursion and dive package vouchers before leaving. Guests with mobility issues should avoid Gardenview rooms as there are many stairs to climb. The Bungalows over the water are great for relaxing and sunset watching and cruise passengers spend time at the resort until late afternoon. My room was bright, clean and the bed was comfortable. Beach and pool facilities were cleaned daily and the dining room/bar areas were pleasant and well maintained.
Subway Diving runs a well organized shop with great staff in and out of the water. Despite bad weather, dives were moved to the other side of the island where conditions were smoother but with one less dive per day. Boats were clean and well run with availalble nitrox fills and staff in the water every dive. Photos and video of the dives are sold for every group and are good quality.
I would recommend Turquoise Bay for a diving trip in Roatan and think it would be pleasant for non-divers as well.

Our group of 6 stayed 11 nights. We enjoyed the secluded location and quiet of Turquoise Bay on the northwest part of Roatan. The property is large and includes accommodations on the level of the office/pool/restaurant, just below this area and up on a hill. If you have issues with climbing stairs, make sure to let them know that you cannot stay on the hill. We enjoyed the views from our room/patio on the hill. The large beach area is well maintained and features volleyball and other games and bars. If you want to enjoy one of the over the water lounge areas, make sure you do this in the mornings when the sun is not directly in your eyes.
The food served at the buffet is varies every day and includes quite a few healthy options. It is served by staff wearing masks behind a glass barrier (Covid precautions). Drinks are delicious, plentiful and most are cold.
adjacent to the main resort area are stables and green fields on which horses eat and play. There are also several aviaries with a variety of beautiful peacocks, pheasants, parrots and macaws.
We were at the resort to dive and felt that the prices for the room/board/diving were very reasonable.

We came to the resort few days ago. 2 couples plus one child. The resort is very small but cute, well organized with beautiful amenities. The townhouses are well kept and have amazing views. The customer service is really good too!! You can do horseback riding (free) and kayaking and paddle boarding free as well.
Snorkeling is offered as well for a small fee and of course scuba diving (main reason why people come to this resort)
The bungalows are very nice the beach is clean and service is amazing everywhere!
If you are looking for some quiet time this is the place to be.
Food is amazing as it offers variety of things 👍🏻👍🏻
Generally very cute well organized with a super friendly staff resort ! One thing only missing is some sort of night entertainment- seems very quiet during evening hours (but then you get to rest and listen to the forest sounds around you)

I stayed with the resort the week of NYE 2020 and booked the dive package. The dive shop is wonderful and took us all on some great dives around the island (dove on both north and south sides depending on the weather/water choppiness). Hit some of the highlights like Mary's Place and had two nice night dives. All of the resort staff were wonderful and super accommodating and the rooms were kept nice and clean. I was even upgraded to a beach-view room midway through my stay. The front desk made booking other island excursions easy and were also helpful with helping us guests print boarding documents for our flights.

The place took Covid seriously and all staff wore masks and there was sanitizer stationed around the resort. Altogether the island has done great responding to Covid and has had virtually no cases for several months now.

PSA: Food selection is tough if you are a vegetarian. There's enough variety but you have to be careful with sides (like rice mixes) because oftentimes bits of meat are stirred in. Wouldn't suggest eating here if you are vegan.

I just returned from another week at this resort. the weather was iffy, but the reefs were pretty, lots of little fish, and healthy coral / sponges. The Dive team is really good. Thank you to Darren, Osman, Bruce and the entire team. They are top notch. They have several nice dive boats set up nicely for convenient in and out. The Front Desk team is run by the lovely Daisy and her great staff. We were met at the airport by energetic Alexa, and the transfers were timely. The Bar and Wait Staff are very hard working. Our friend Pablo was great as always, as was Pedro, Roddy, and so many others whose names escape me. Food was good and plentiful. The rooms are nice with a view. Lastly, thanks to Photog Diver Bob Herb for all of the insight. This resort is definitely worth the trip, and with no other boats on the nearby reefs, you felt well taken care of.

I can't say enough about this place. Physically the rooms, common areas and beach were spotless and seemed to be constantly maintained for cleanliness. The food and drink were great - fresh and varied. But the staff is what really made this place remarkable. From the moment our dive group arrived we felt welcomed and pampered. The staff, particularly the wait staff were very, very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.
The only drawback was the sand flies which are found throughout the island. The resort rakes the beach frequently to keep the sand fly population low. I'd done some research and brought along insect repellent with Picaridin which seemed to do the trick.
And please remember to bring along reef friendly sunscreen.

Just returned from a week of diving with Subway Sports at Turquoise Bay. This is our second stay at this resort. Do not hesitate to stay here. The resort, rooms, staff, service, location, amenities and the Subway dive operation are awesome. With the additional complications of COVID the resort was always cleaning, making sure masks are utilized where required had hand sanitizer etc at the ready. Was as safe a place as any in this crazy world. We love all of the dive staff. Our captain was Pedro and dive master was Osmond, they made our dives flawless, made sure we were safe in and out of the water. The diving was excellent, nice to see those beautiful reefs again. We were accommodated with enthusiasm when we requested another fun night dive. This resort does go out of its way to make their guests happy. Only one small complaint was noted when one of the food servers at the food station would very deliberately go out of his way to wait on a Honduran guest over anyone else. We would clearly be standing in line waiting our turn for service and if a Honduran guest would come up in line behind us he would stop what he was doing and wait on them. And no it was NOT because WE were behaving badly etc...I will still give this resort 5 stars because one bad egg does not take away from all the other excellent qualities of this resort. All the other service staff, bartenders, bus boys etc were awesome. Another side note there were 7 of us in our party, all 7 of us had an intestinal issue, all felt great, just intestinal issues at some point throughout our stay. Guessing from either water, ice or fruit. Perhaps a warning to avoid these things from the hotel staff may prevent others from suffering the same issue REGARDLESS we all would gladly return to this resort in a heartbeat! Thank you to the entire staff, etc for making our holiday awesome.

Just returned from a week of diving here and can wholeheartedly recommend Turquoise Bay Resort. Room I had was very nice, comfortable beds, small outside balcony and a roomy shower. Food at the resort was varied throughout the week (Italian, American BBQ, seafood, Mexican, Honduran) and excellent in my opinion and you had plenty to eat. Staff was very attentive and couldn't have been friendlier, from the waiters to desk clerk to the cleaning people, all great people. Went there for the diving and the onsite dive op, Subway Watersports couldn't have been more accommodating. A weather front had come through before I got there making conditions on the northside of the island less than ideal for diving. They moved 3 boats around to the southside of the island and bussed us back and forth from the resort for the week so we didn't miss a single dive. Roomy boats with great crews and divemasters. Awesome newly renovated area for gear storage. Great operation IMHO, can't praise them enough and I look forward to returning again in the future. They even made me a cake for my birthday, which occurred while I was there.

This was the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. Three dive trips a day for the husband was perfect for him, Captain Bruce, and dive masters Osman and Enook were informative, gave personalized attention to each diver and made sure to point out things underwater that would be easy to overlook. After a successful Lion fish hunt the chefs at the resort made up fresh ceviche and presented it with great ceremony.
A massage everyday with the wonderful Karen along with plenty of beach time was perfect for me. The staff was attentive and friendly, the resort had a private beach that was share with cruise ship excursions on some of the days (they were always gone by 4pm), that was a little annoying but much better than being on a public beached hounded by hawkers every 5 minutes. Bungalows over the water were a dreamy place to watch the sunset with a drink in hand. Paddle boarding, kayaking, and horseback riding were also fun. The resident donkey, Molly, would show up at random times and places and really made the trip just that much more fun.
The food was very nice as well, plenty of fresh fruit and local dishes. But the soup! The soup was amazing-from butternut squash to seafood to some amazing local soup that I never did catch the name of, it was the highlight of every meal. Would definitely go back.
