The TRS Yucatan Hotel is lauded for its stunning amenities and exceptional service, with guests praising the luxurious pools, diverse dining options, and the dedication of the staff, particularly the butler service. Nestled in a tranquil location, the hotel's spacious rooms and vibrant atmosphere, highlighted by entertaining live shows like Chic Cabaret, contribute to its allure. However, some visitors have noted dampness in rooms and unexpected charges for certain services. Excessive noise can be a concern, yet the overall cleanliness and hospitality often leave a lasting impression on guests.

TRS Yucatan review (26th October - the 9th November 2023)

Well that’s it we have just gotten home after 20 hrs travelling and a quick nap from a 14 night stay at TRS travelling from Clare, Ireland . This was our honeymoon (that we had to delay a year due to father in laws health ) and our first time in Mexico and going to a resort.

Let’s start with we had an amazing time and are thinking to book again for our fifth year anniversary already ❤️ .
We truly had an amazing time .
I’ll be honest in my review with all my positive and slightly negatives even though very minor and rare in order to help anyone new coming to the resort or thinking of coming

Buckle up addicts (this part for the fans and addict Facebook page which I highly suggest you join it’s a great community ) 😝
We had some family issues that made us need to push the honeymoon off for a year and as well 2 weeks before the room dates were wrong when we contacted for the wish list but all was straightforward and easy fixed before we arrived so I would suggest to do your wish list in good time before you leave so you have time to iron out any hiccups.
We needed the break and boy did we get it here amazing 🤩

Arrival, we arrived very late at night we had a lovely staff member Claudia at check-in who went through everything and had a map showing us what to expect and where things were times and points of interest and was nothing short of a sweetie (although to note the late night check in won’t get the champagne at arrival but we were so tired I would I have fell into it 😂) we got our vouchers hats and all that before we left reception and after taken straight to our room (only issue our bands didn’t work but it was fixed next morning no problem) Building 69 by lovely buggy driver who helped us with bags settling in and to meet the butler team. We loved this room as it was straight across from La Terraza pool, a 2 mins walk to the lobby and 7 to the beach just super close to everything .
Our butler came to meet us that night gave us the WhatsApp and as it was late put in a food request for us and came in a little early the next day for us to speak and get to know and honestly Jesus and Armando in 69 are superstars .

We didn't have the speaker or bottles of booze in our room, but we didn’t need them so we never re requested it but anything you needed you could let them know.

The butlers Jesus And Armando. I could go on and on about them they were kind , efficient, friendly they sorted anything we needed and were always just so happy to help they made our stay ( we upgraded for the last four days to a new building and I could have cried when we left I knew I would miss them and we really did).

Room- We had the poolside room with a jacuzzi on the balcony when booking with Tui, it is a Junior Suite with Poolside and balcony/terrace with Private whirlpool.
It was a beautiful room, huge, clean, nice shower and well upkept we loved the jacuzzi on the balcony unfortunately we couldn’t use it much as we should have we were always exploring (advice it takes about 60mins to fill so pre ask your butlers for it to be filled at a specific time or plan ahead).
The rooms with the jacuzzi do not have a damp (I use that word lightly no rooms has a bad smell) smell at all they are probably the better condition of the rooms especially top floor the room cleaning and turn down was always perfect .

Or second room what the junior suite private pool at villa 61
It was a great experience to have the option to try both rooms but I honestly would choose the jacuzzi over the pool.
The Rooms are similar maybe a little smaller in the pool room but unless you are going height of hot summer the jacuzzi is the way to go we found the pool rooms were a little damper (for obvious reasons 😂) and did have a damper smell(again very lightly using that as they did not smell ) also the rooms are definitely a little more well used still beautiful some wallpaper bubbling from the room being so humid but not really noticable just normal day to day wear and tear but we 100% missed the jacuzzi in 69
You would want to bring damp rid bags if you are in the pool room just for your hanging clothes to keep them fresher but we didn’t and there was no real issue and remember it’s ground floor there’s more animals and mosquitos near the pool rooms as they face the mangrove.

All the rooms have a steamer, a hairdryer, a safe ,2 dressing gowns, tv, mini fridge stocked daily but we suggest asking for what you want in it with the butlers also both rooms have a lie down soft couch outside and the pool room has both that and seating area with a table. Loads of plugs to use and usbs and a coffee machine, a filtered coffee maker (creamer not milk you’ll have to request that) and toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap, body lotion **no toothpaste **and all loccitaine brand really nice)

We have no negatives with the jacuzzi room maybe that some days the restock was poorer than others and for the pool room some little negatives about the room The tv remote stopped working 2 times over the course of the 2 days we had to call for it to be fixed it was after 2 days and that the room was a little more used that the jacuzzi room it had more wear and tear nothing to write home about but it’s the truth also on the pool room the aircon was not really doing what it said on the screen it did it’s own thing 😂 no issue but is another point while there ,though issues always got sorted asap. Maybe one more point for the pool room would one that we were there 5days and I was only really cleaned from leaves once so there’s a lot floating in the pool for us we never minded we would make fun of pushing them over the edge but it may be something others may find a little off putting and sometimes we would get back to the room at 3pm and it still wouldn’t be cleaned or stocked and the turn down was hit or miss some nights for us not a problem at all though I can get into bed unaided 😂😂.

Wifi- worked good over the resort it did drop a bit and get congested sometimes and loading the app was always a gamble 😂.

Pools-Our favourite pool was the pool la terraza quiet and relaxing bar was good too usually quite sometimes people had speakers and The staff didn't enforce the rule of no speakers, honestly the people were listening really low so it wasn’t an issue but if you really did want peace then I could see it may be annoying

We enjoyed the white sands pool when it was quiet with the swim up bar and the infinity was also beautiful but can be a bit loud sometimes for me , the secret adults pool in colonial is nice and quite and the sea water pool was really cool .
To state there are Bali beds that are available at first come first serve and some reservations for others at La terazza all are first come first serve best time is around 8am for the free ones same at the infinity pool

Food
(We did end up sick NOT FROM TRS we went on a tour and got sick there because we ate food prepared locally oops within 30 minutes we felt it before we got back if you are going to do a tour and they offer locally made food drinks that aren’t bottled and you come from a country with fluoridated water like Ireland I would not eat anything outside the resort at all that’s not packaged)

Food wise we loved almost everything. Here's a quick run down of some of the places we tried:

La Boheme- we went once we both liked it would have gone again

Tentazione- yummy we went 3 times it was beautiful

El Gaucho- was great the hubby loved it

Helios- not for us unfortunately we didn’t like it there but that’s down to personal preference more than quality
We did go for breakfast a few times and it was lovely

Capricho- we ate here for breakfast most times, more limited than Helios but the staff were our favorite They offer great options on the al la carte menu and a fresh crepe station ❤️ We booked the Mexican night but I was too sick to go 🥲

Chic- never went for food went for the bingo it’s something else 😂 not our style but if you love that over the top singing and drinking you will love it if your not into cabarets and that style of show maybe it’s not for you but the snacks were lovely ( we had Halloween as well and the spread was incredibly amazing of all the treats and candy apples we were blown away)

Chang Thai- we had booked but again I was sick so devastated it smelled and looked amazing

We went to the la Dalia in white sands for the buffet a few nights when I was sick as I couldn’t eat a full meal I needed more simple food have to say it was very good they had something for everyone and also food cooked as you wait would recommend on days you don’t feel like eating too much or just want an ice cream

Room service- we ordered this for dinner, and breakfast honestly amazing a little cold because of the wait but you couldn’t have served me some of the food that I recieved and I could tell you it would pass for restaurant quality especially the Mexican food ( they will call after you order to tell you the time for delivery and you have to be aware it won’t be piping hot but it won’t make a difference it’s so good )

Sports bar- not my thing but I couldn’t get my hubby out chips wings beers sports real man cave he loved it

We have also seen a lot of posts about people getting sick We were both fine the entire two weeks in the resort we were perfect we only got sick after the outside visit as I said a warning to travellers is when booking excursions
Most offer bottled water and snacks that are little pizza or muffins (totally safe) but some excursions take you to places where you try things the locals make and I have to be honest we should have known we had to go to the doctor in colonial who asked where we went what we ate and her rational behind it was she was told that in some cases they soak all the grains in local water with lye in it to break down the corn husk but that means that it corn absorbs it the local microbes and we ate it and unfortunately got sick (we probably never been exposed before) we weren’t bad no vomiting but it was annoying made eating more of a chore
Please if your are going out of the hotels only eat and drink bottle or packaged foods it’s not work the risk

On that note the doctor was great in colonial it was expensive about 250 usd for appointment and prescription but we can claim it on travel insurance I will say she was very in dept and made sure to find out where and how we were sick and also very professional and gave great relief and support

Drinks were good everywhere

Butlers and Staff- honestly all the staff were amazing and great at their jobs Were there some hiccups yes some servers not as attentive some the opposite and super friendly it was always great thought nothing was too much trouble there is a huge difference between the TRS and the other resorts you’ll notice it yourself walking through them , the TRS just has that little bit more.

⭐️Special mentions⭐️: Jesus, Armando , the morning girls at Capricho Yanette and Patricia and I’m sorry I haven’t his name spelled right he is one of the spa sales men I think it was spelled Dyneo super nice guy and always stopped for a chat we became buddies these staff were stand out stars .

Hotel Facilities
Sports centre- shuffleboard , mini golf, badminton we missed the shooting so much fun but literally mossie central 🪰 .

Spa- we did the couples 299$ treatment omg well worth it we felt amazing just such a great experience
The treatment was 50 min full body massage, 25 min reflexology and 25 min body scrub. You can pick and chose the 25min ones
1st class service.

We did adventure around
We did the flamingos at colonial (the crocodiles are gone now )
The chapel omg amazing
The cenote at Trs beautiful!
The love walk in white sands
We walked all the resorts beaches saw all the turtle eggs
Went looking for all the wildlife and marked off all the ones we saw
Fed the fish daily 😂
There was a Mexican market on in colonial we went to that too
We had the Halloween and Dia de la
Murtes party’s amazing
Bingo was nuts 😂
Tulum great
Akumal amazing
Cenote was stunning
Xceret was unmissable

Beach was lovely the TRS area with towels chairs and bar service perfect We walked along from Colonial end towards TRS a few times it was wonderful.

Didn't get round to using the gym 😛 or
the laundry service while we were there. We never made it to Playa del carmen we did some tours and found that it wouldn’t be our vibe to have people constantly calling us to shop with them we stuck to the shops in the hotels although more expensive the ease of being left alone was worth the mark up
Also the amount of people with animals for pictures on the tours was crazy and not a good idea some of the animals didn’t look in the best of shape and they would try put them on you when you were walking past not for me anyway

A few bits extra the hotel is amazing for events for Halloween and Dia del la murtes the beautiful displays and foods were awesome inspiring also the rainy days actives were so fun as well they think of everything

Trips
Turtles- This trip cost 99€ each and was worth every penny. We got picked up at 8.55am from lobby which was good as it meant we could grab breakfast we did a cenote snorkel first it was just brilliant and then Akumal to see the turtles amazing probably our fav day out got back to TRS around 2pm. Great day out, but you need biodegradable sunscreen and can’t wear bug spray 🥲

Xcaret picked up at 8:20 from white sands wow what a day and I mean day we didn’t get back till 9:30 pm we worth it , it’s expensive about 370€ for both of us but it’s honestly such and experience we did all the water stuff first then all the animal stuff and shows as we went on dia del la murtes it was incredible to see all the set up offrendas and the Mexican show at night is unmissable would recommend to anyone (however there a buffet included in the ticket i would go at 11am when it opened we didn’t and couldn’t get in there was lines for about 1:30hrs we ended up eating In a cafe

Tulum and Mayan village 100€pp
Pick up lobby @ 8:55 it was amazing to see it we enjoyed it probably wouldn’t do it with the Maya village as we did a cenote separately there more interesting Tulum combined tours you can do if you do thing it’s biodegradable sunscreen

Renovations- none In the trs but a few in the other areas had no impact on the trip nothing to say about them. There was plenty of weddings during our stay they never effectedthe guests and the guests never effected them .

Live Entertainment
There are bands djs music pianist singers chic all around the resorts and you get a daily update on the app and from your butlers about what’s happening you won’t be short between all the resorts there’s something going on all the time

Transfers/Tui Rep. We arrived at Cancun airport, made our way outside and there was a sign saying private transfers with the Tui logo. We waited 10 mins and then got told by the tui guy that the company didn’t show but not to worried he organised another driver within minutes it’s a bit of a trek 90mins drive but nice van good driver and aircon we were happy
On the way back, tui said we would be collected at 9.15 am and At 9.10 am we were off to the airport there In good time cancun is more expensive for souvenirs than the hotel shops but has good food options and is pretty fast to get through
The tui rep was at colonial she was great more than helpful.

Shops- We bought souvenirs at the main Kantenah shop honestly same price everywhere made sense cheaper than the airport but snacks medication and drinks were crazy (bring a medicine kit for any eventualities it’s super important 16€ for 12 paracetamol better to pack your own especially tummy tablets)
Get or bring one of the water proof phone cases they are available for 35$ well worth it we had such fun

The market happening in The Colonial was beautiful but I didn’t love it the sellers sales pitches they were shouting at people saying I’m next me me and come here pretty lady I know that’s part of the sales but I just didn’t expect that in the hotels market we walked once around and one guy stepped between me and my husband to usher me over and we just left after than (he was just trying to get sales so it wasn’t a bad thing but for us it kinda ended the night there we weren’t interested in that type if interaction )

Wildlife I have so many pictures it was part of our day to look for them on and off resort we saw Geckos , lizards ,coaties , raccoons ,monkeys all manner of birds and Insects fish and mammals, turtles starfishes oh we could go on and on it was amazing we loved watching them Igunanas were the best they would be up on-top of bushes eating so funny (please don't feed them some people were causing issues feeding the animals remember Mexico only has the first shot for rabies if you get bitten you get that shot at the hospital and the first flight straight home for treatment also it could lead the animal to being dependent or killed if it acts out)

There is a swampy smell around the resort in the mangrove walks but come on its the mangrove in the rainforest if it didn’t I’d be worried never in the rooms or main hotels
More after it rains but it quickly clears another point is the hotel has events when it rains for entertainment , all the buggy’s have covers all the rooms umbrellas so don’t worry it won’t even effect your day

Tipping if you aren’t from us the bring small pesos 20 or 50 is 1 to 2 usd We left 20-50 pesos each meal and tipped the cart drivers here and there. We left a tip for the maid and tipped the butlers at the end. We tipped other staff here and there as we went and the spa too .

We took 500€ in in peso and did all the tipping souvenirs and airport food with it so you really won’t need much
Keep in mind spa, wines , premium packages go on the room to be paid at check out
Tours are paid by credit card or cash to the tour guide booking there’s no cancellation fee but 24 hrs before if you don’t show up have a doctors note or cancel in time it’s non refundable
As for taxes we paid the environmental for 2 weeks which was like 25usd (get a receipt for it a check out for the airport in case you are asked and the vista tax for 2 it was like 595 pesos and you get a qr code some people at airport in our line were asked for it some weren’t

I think that’s all I can remember from sleep deprivation if anyone has questions specific around tui booking and traveling from eu in I can try help .
To anyone going or thinking of going you will not be disappointed it was a fantastic beautiful experience one which we will never forget and hope to visit again sometime soon ❤️
And to the fans and addicts Facebook page thank you all for the help and advice over the last while it’s a fantastic resource and community I’m happy to be apart of ❤️

To the hotel staff and local people , fans and addicts we met thanks for the wonderful lifelong memories we will cherish them always ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Service
The staff and service are the best points at TRS. I think one of the things I look forward to most is seeing staff I have met in previous years.

Cleanliness
TRS is always very clean and the staff are always working to keep things looking good and well maintained.

Value
TRS is significantly more expensive than other resorts such as Bahia Sian Kaan or Bahia Ambar in the DR (those are the other resorts I have stayed at, so that is all I can compare them to). That being said, TRS food quality and service is a step higher than those resorts. I guess it comes down to if you are willing to pay for the difference. One of the initial selling points for us was the room service and that you could order lobster to your room, however this has been discontinued and lobster is available from Helios only at night. There is an extra charge (38 USD) for lobster anywhere else including dishes that contain small amounts of lobster such as pizza or pasta. Some people do not care, for others it was something they looked forward to. Chic also now has an extra 20USD charge per person for TRS guests. While this is well worth it if you have not seen the show, for us it was our fourth time seeing the show and I am not sure I would pay to see it again.

Location
We prefer staying in locations with lots of vegetation and wildlife which the TRS has. This year we did not have an issue with Sargassum on the beach which was great. We did however have an issue with coral all over the beach. We were guessing that some of the coral that was closer to the shore died and is now in the process of washing up on the beach. In previous visits we knew which sections of the beach was accessible, however this year we could not find any areas that were easy to enter, so we ended up purchasing water shoes from the Kantenah store. So for past guests that are not used to bringing water shoes, you may want to bring some just in case.

Sleep Quality
The rooms are great as always, however five days into our ten day trip the air conditioning became unreliable and eventually stopped turning on which made sleeping difficult. Our butler did his best but the maintenance crew was unable to resolve the issue. We were afraid to leave the balcony doors open at night as we previously had a curious raccoon try to open our screen door while we were awake.

Rooms
The rooms are great as always. Just a note about the private pools, they are not heated so they can feel a bit cooler than expected.

My girlfriend and I went to this hotel to celebrate the New Year, an anniversary and a birthday, and things could not have been better.

We stayed in a suite with a private pool, and it was beautiful. The rooms were spotless when we arrived and our concierge gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. They also decorated my room for my girlfriends birthday, which was a nice surprise!

Food was great at every restaurant on the TRS side. Also took a trip to the Palladium side and was not disappointed at all with any of the food. I would recommend Helios for breakfast. Capricho was more a-la-carte but Helios has better options. Staff at Helios is also great and the view of the water is unbeatable.

Our room location was close to the main pool, so getting around was very easy. If you can, I would recommend staying as close to the pool/Helios as there is lots of carts going back and forth. Hotel is spacious but provides tons of carts to get around. We enjoyed walking around as they also have jungle paths through the forest and over the water.

I have seen some people say that this is a very quiet resort, which is partially true. It really depends on your wants. We experienced both sides as there was loud, high energy music at the pool during the day but it shuts off early and you get to sit and relax quietly. You can also venture over to the other Palladium hotels. All the way at the end of the beach there is a private TRS section with big beach beds - this is a MUST do. It is amazing.

Staff was exceptional. Everyone was more than happy to help us and make sure our trip was perfect. If you brush up on your Spanish before you go it will go a LONG way. As someone who understands Spanish well but speaks poorly, the staff encouraged and helped me speak as much as possible.

Our staff at the pool was amazing, the bar nearest to Helios at the pool has a couple hilarious bartenders who made us really feel welcome.

This hotel is a bit pricey, depending on your room selection, but it is 100% worth it. This was an amazing trip and we instantly wanted to go back.

Recently visited the TRS Yucatan with my girlfriend and another couple for two birthdays. The staff was incredible in making both my girlfriend's and my friend's wife's birthday memorable with special touches throughout our trip.

The TRS Yucatan is part of a massive complex and is hands down the nicest of all the properties. You can definitely tell the difference when you visit the other properties, whether that's for entertainment, food, or to visit the beach.

The TRS doesn't offer as much entertainment as the other resorts, and is definitely not a "party" resort, but there is still plenty to do, and great drinks, food and fun to be had.

Our butler Adrian was incredible throughout our stay, and unlike other resorts where we have stayed where you butler seems to never go away, Adrian gave us plenty of space and worked from the "shadows." He helped with reservations, directions, weather updates, activity suggestions and decorated our rooms with special birthday decorations.

All of the bartenders were great, and the entertainment staff (who all seem to wear multiple hats) were great as well. Diana and Ronnie (and a couple others) gave a fun and informative tequila tasting all while dealing with one particular annoying tequlia snob.

As some have noted, there is a Time Share/Vacation Club onsite who almost immediately after check in will descend upon you like fresh meat. They are extremely nice, but unless you want to have breakfast with a stranger who is going to try to sell you something, or are very interested in joining the Vacation Club, my advice would be honest and straight forward right away.

Additionally, the resort does let outside vendors, like the Coco Bongo (a night club located in Playa Del Carmen) to walk around the pool areas and try to sell tickets to the club. While they can be a little annoying, they like all of the other staff are very friendly and not rude at all.

This is similar to the Spa salesmen. These individuals will be at the pool and walking around non-stop all day. They are very friendly and if you are into spa treatments, they do offer a great discount compared to what you will see online or if you walk or ride up to the spa.

Lastly, if you want anything other than house wine its an additional cost, which is unfortunate and unlike many of the Youtube videos you will see, lobster is an additional cost everywhere you go.

All in all, we had an amazing stay and we definitely want to go back!

We travelled to this resort for our Honeymoon in June 2019. Upon arrival it was clear that the staff were extremely happy to go above and beyond for you to make sure that your stay was as laid back and relaxing as possible. The check in staff made us feel welcome and explained everything about the resort that we needed to know and even had us brought a drink of our choice. Our representative was Bianca and she couldn't gave done any more to make us feel welcome. The staff who operated the exclusive golf carts to run you to your villa were extremely friendly and were happy to explain anything to you or just have a friendly chat. If you come across Frank - he is a really friendly person who is happy to talk to you about anything.
We stayed in a Junior Suit with Private pool at Villa 66 and our Butlers were Ceasar and Erick - these 2 couldn't not do enough for you and were always on hand to assist you with any issues you had. If you wanted something changed in your room - it would be done before you had got back to your villa. Villa 66 was perfectly located to Heleo's as well as the pool, and having a south facing private pool was also fantastic.
The food at TRS Yucatan and across the resort (which included the other 3 hotels), was absolutely incredible, from the service, to the quality of food, to the time you waited for each course. It was perfect. Special mentioned too Ivonne at Heleos, Luis at Tentisione and Gustavo at La Bohieme. I also celebrated my birthday at El Gaucho and Wilbert made this occasional amazing, serving some incredible drinks behind the bar.
The housekeeping staff may have a difficult job, but Efrian was still extremely friendly, easy to talk to and made the process look extremely easy, finishing our room quickly and still having time to have a friendly chat.
We spent a lot of time at the IO Bar (located at the Infinity Pool), and Alfredo and Gerado were extremely friendly and were happy to put together numerous drinks for us that weren't on the menu and made an extremely happy atmosphere every afternoon.
Overall this hotel is absolutely incredible. From staff friendliness, to cleanliness, to the rooms, to the food, to the entertainment and options available across the resort, for a honeymoon we could not have wanted more. this was the best 10 days away we have experienced and one day will definitely return to TRS Yucatan. Thank you

My husband and I stayed in March 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed the resort. The food was fantastic and liquor was top shelf. Service throughout TRS was amazing. We spent a lot of time at the infinity pool; found the the other pool to be busy with groups of travellers; and, the TRS beach section was some distance away. The TRS beach section is at the opposite end of the resort; it has a bar beside it but doesn't have top shelf liquor. The spa was nice, just a tip - ask the staff to call for a TRS shuttle, they will say they have but don't actually call, so you have to insist they call or you could be waiting for a long time. Our room was well appointed and clean. As with most all inclusive the bathrooms aren't too private. Our butler was accommodating and booked all our reservations for us. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are high end; I actually ordered larger bottles online when I got home. Chic Cabaret was a good show. As far as other entertainment goes - you have to go the the adjacent palladium resort theatre within the lobby area that seemed to be packed with families with young kids so you don't get the adults only feel. Overall this resort offers excellent food and service with nice rooms. It's a bit far from the airport but we booked private transportation so it wasn't so bad. Our building was beside helios beach bar - right across from the board walk leading to the lobby. We just stayed in Dominican at TRS Turquesa which is much different and I do not recommend as it doesn't provide the same level of luxury as TRS Yucatan.

So I am a massive fan of the Caribbean and have been every year for the last 4 years and several times before that.
I had seen the reviews of TRS Yucatan and hoped it would be the perfect place for my husband and my Honeymoon and I wasn’t mistaken.
After a long trip, I will be honest, I got to the hotel and wondered what I had done. I wasn’t quite as blown away as I was expecting. Don’t get me wrong, it was lovely but it was a little slow getting seen but it was nice and cool in the lobby.
Upon getting to see the team at check in, once at the desk we got a lovely wet towel to freshen up and champagne/ sparking wine which was lovely.
We then got a buggy to our block, which was block 60. And wow. Seeing all the private pools and how well the resort is set out was amazing.
We got to our block and we had 2 butlers at the time as they were due to swap over. I’m really sorry that I didn’t remember their names as they were lovely. We had quickly been shown round the room, more mod cons than I knew were possible and we got to ask for what alcohol we wanted. We had done this with the e-butler before we went but it wasn’t a problem saying what we wanted again. And wow! The room was beautiful and the private pool looked stunning.
During our stay, we had a couple of things go wrong, so our patio door wouldn’t open and our tv stopped working but they were sorted within the hour.
We went to Helios our first night and were blown away with the standard of the food. It was out of this world.
We slept really well. The block was quiet. The light over the private pool goes off about 11pm.
The next morning, we got to have a proper explore and we were early to Helios for breakfast but they let us in. You get asked your room number and whether you have any allergies at every meal, and given hand sanitizer. The view from Helios is stunning.
Over the 2 weeks we were there we had a fantastic time. As red heads we are always looking for shade and we had a great time at the White Sands pool, spa or beach in the morning/ early afternoon and then the infinity pool in the late afternoon.
I raved about this hotel so much when I got home that my aunt and uncle ended up going 2 months after us.
If you have any doubts, don’t. It is truest breathtaking and I would not hesitate in going back.
Try a mudslide! I just asked for mine without coffee and it was epic!
Enjoy every minute!

This adult only resort was truly beautiful. I've had the pleasure of staying at several 4-5 star resorts around the Gulf of Mexico and I have to say that the TRS Yucatan had by far the friendliest and kindest staff. We stayed in the bungalows and they were AWESOME! So much privacy and the water was incredibly clear which made your morning coffee that more relaxing watching the fish swim by.

Our butlers Adrian Romero & Ana Cris Sevilla made our whole entire trip. Each day they were so helpful with answering questions, scheduling shuttles and reservations, and providing us with the daily weather and activities list. Not to mention, we came back one night to a bottle of champagne, assorted fruits, and rose petals to celebrate our honeymoon. They took such great care of us and truly felt like friends during our stay.

We did not go to the other pools or restaurants outside of TRS Yucatan because there was an obvious difference in amenities and overall quality of food and experience at the Colonial, White Sands and Kanetenah resort.

The only reason why I am not leaving a 5 star review is that there was not a lot of energy around the whole resort. I'm not sure if it was the time of year that we went, but when we walked around the whole complex you saw more empty chairs than you did people. TRS was incredibly relaxing, but at times I would of really enjoyed some live music or performances, besides the standard morning workout sessions. The music that played throughout the day was more contemporary jazz or house-style music, very posh and elegant. They did have live music, but either it was a DJ playing house-electronic music or acoustic music. I do have to say though, the saxaphone player was amazing! I guess all in all, I was hoping to experience more of the Mexican culture.

Chic was amazing, must see performances!

Me and my boyfriend came here November/December 2019 and we had the most amazing time and gave us everything we needed! We enjoy snorkeling and general wildlife so this resort was perfect! The salt water pool was great for doing abit of snorkeling too and was a lovely area! We also LOVED the infinity pool chilled out through the morning by lunch time the dj comes on which is great need abit of music by the pool, also loved the opera singers that came by! The bbq at the infinity was also yummy! The rooms are beautiful we got the junior suite with jacuzzi on the balcony, the only issue we and other found is they smell damp, not sure if this is because on the mangroves but it is quite overwhelming at times, and my clothes did come home with a smell. some couples we met requested their rooms to be changed and it happened promtly so we should probably done that too.
We enjoyed our night at chic this got abit messy afterwards, apart from chic there isn't really any nightlife at the hotel unless you go into the other sections if you don't mind children, but we personally did alot through the day and wanted to chill so the nightlife for this holiday was perfect as we didn't really want any. They have a silent disco which is really funny if you have had a few drinks so reccomend that for a giggle.
The private beach area is quite a walk away from the hotel which is a shame as I do love the beach but I did my research beforehand so not that much of an issue plus the walk is needed when all inclusive and the pool areas where so nice! We did some good snorkeling too from the beach!

If you stay at this hotel or in the area and love monkeys we totally reccomend 'the jungle place' a couple have turned their home into a monkey sanctuary and money you pay goes to the upkeep of the spider monkeys. You also get more then a full hour with the monkeys climbing all over you
doing whatever they please to you
haha!

We would like to thank Alan Juarez, Benjamin Torres and our butler Samuel from block 70
Alan is the most caring person ever and he took us and another couple to playa del Carmen after his shift to take us for some authentic Mexican food he's a lovely friend and makes you amazing meals!

Benjamin is the friendliest most enthusiastic team member and and tell he enjoys his work never a sad face and always came to chat to us!

Samuel from block 70 was the best of our butlers we wished he was there all of the time as he the most helpful and happy to do so!

James B wrote a review Dec 2020
Room: The room was pretty impressive, especially the outdoor seating area next to the water with the hammock. The outdoor shower was also a highlight, especially showering during a rainy day. The ability to order room service directly from the TV was a neat touch, although I wouldn't recommend the late night menu unless you absolutely cannot wait to grab an early breakfast. The floors were very pretty but a little gritty, so thankfully they provided some slippers to walk around in. Also, many of the outlets in the room seemed to be very touchy, so we had some trouble charging our devices. Also, the lack of a living area in the room was missed.

Location: We loved the lush, jungle feel of the resort and walked around for many hours just enjoying the sights. The amount of wildlife to be seen is quite impressive, and there are a number of beach cats that like to frequent the area. There are little gems hidden all over the property to discover, and the lagoon the room was sitting on was full of fish to see. I attempted to use the kayak with little success, but that's a whole other story...

Service: It seemed like no matter where we were on the resort we were treated with kind, friendly, and attentive service. A special shout out to Jorge who remembered us even though our visit was in the middle of his 4 day break and gave us a special going away breakfast treat. The butler service was able to fulfill most of our requests and made dinner reservations a breeze.

Other: We stayed during the Thanksgiving US Holiday and they had an impressive dinner set up in Caprichio featuring pumpkin soup, bacon wrapped turkey, and apple pie. The meal and service were impeccable, although we missed out on the carving station as it did not arrive at our table before the end of our meal.

I believe the daily fee is $50.00 pp (USD) (18+). If you want a treatment, book it with one of the spa reps that walk around the pool/beach. They have the best discounted prices. We always get a "BOGOF" (buy one...get one free).

The 3rd pool is called the ""La Terazza" pool and is a lovely small pool located in front of TRS villas #69-71. Bali beds and lounge chairs under shaded palm trees with its own pool bar. This was the older original TRS resort section before 2017. It is close to the restaurants/lobby and a short walk to the other two pools, "Helios" beach restaurant, and villas #60-68. Check out the "Palladium Rivera Maya Resort" map on Google.

TRS Turquesa (DR), TRS Yucatan are part of a larger resort. The TRS area is adult only with its own restaurants, pools, beach and access to the larger resort amenities.
