Detailed Reviews
Convenient location to explore Fort Steele and Kimberley but would hesitate to book again. A few things bothered me about this campground. Firstly the WiFi was terrible-not that camping is all about WiFi but if I am camping where I can see gas pumps I expect it he WiFi to be reasonable. Secondly when I reviewed my bill I seen charges for an extra adult and 2 extra kids per night- 9$ extra-above the 50$ a night . Apparently campground rate is based on “double occupancy “. So my 3 children are extra. My 17 year old is considered an“adult” and thus the extra adult fee. Ridiculous. They would be better off charging 60 a night and not explaining the unusual policy of charging extra for more than two people per campsite. We camped in a trailer. Thanks , but no thanks Fort Steele RV resort.

Convenient location and refreshing pool but overpriced, some cleaning issues and staff who did not appear to know what they were doing. One group checking in ahead of us and it took more than a half hour for them and then almost as long for us … and both were straight forward check ins. Four sinks in the washroom but only one soap dispenser; which was empty the entire time we were there.

We were simply looking for a safe place to camp overnight on our way home, so asked for a site without services. “Without services” is an understatement! A grassy open field with no demarcation between sites, no picnic table, no fire pit, and too far away to access the internet. At a cost of over$40.

Wow I have not had such a combination of things to say about one place. Pool was down and according to locals it has been of a couple seasons, yet they still advertise it. I asked to talk to owner who tried to use covid as excuse to why pool was not open but the pool does not work anyways. I did camp at a lovely camp ground 10 minutes down the road with a working open pool the same day I spoke to the owner. The staff are not at all helpful, friendly but after talking with the owner I think I understand why. Double check their cancelation policy it is terrible. Sites are small with no space at all between trailers. It is extremely hot here with no way to cool down. In my opinion this is a buyer beware ask the questions, they want your money but don’t want to provide the services, or refund your hard earned money. The camp ground I stayed at was wonderful friendly clean best service in my opinion the only issue is that you can’t pre book site so you have to take the chance. It was not full when I was there. I highly recommend that you take the chance even if you have to go to another camp ground there are a few in the area. Frankly I would stay any where but fort Steele resort and rv park. PS Fort Steele is amazing and worth the visit awesome staff and great history here. Have a great summer I hope this saves a few people from a terrible experience. The good camp ground is called fort Steele campground

We didn’t stay here. The Fort Steele town was closed as the wildfires approached and the animals were moved. I requested a refund from the RV park and the rude lady refused to give us a refund saying that the RV park wasn’t evacuating. The thick smoke was everywhere. We chose not to stay. We never received a refund.

Great location only exceeded by the staff. Most accommodating and friendly. Truly care about their guests.
I have watched the owner interact with some very demanding and seemingly entitled customers and have yet to see her (or her staff) treat anyone with anything but respect.

Avoid this Park at all cost. Junkies & Drug Dealers rule over this Park! We observed drug buys going on in the male and female washrooms, and laundry room. Management seems not to care, and refuse to evict the criminal elements. Way over priced to be put at such high risk. Not a healthy spot for children especially! Stay clear!

Do not recommend this campsite. Packed in like pickles in a jar. Washrooms and showers dated, in disrepair and dirty. Laundry facilities inadequate, dated, dirty and ridiculously expensive. Won’t let you put out carpet on the dirt-floored campsite. Garbage dumpster overflowing. Advertised as pet friendly but no off leash area. Wi-Fi woefully inadequate. This “resort” not anything close to what is advertised.

Haven’t been here for 16 years and the campground is still as nice as ever. Not as busy because of corona and unfortunately the pool was closed. Such a bummer as it was so hot this past week. But we did find a nice sandy spot down by the Kootenay River and that was refreshing for us and our black lab. We checked in a bit early last Sunday and Keri allowed us to move to site 16 which was an end site...it was great! Staff were super friendly, showers were good, also laundry room. The gift shop was lovely and we got ice cream almost every day. No fire ban, so we had a campfire most nights. All in all a great week. If the US border remains locked, we will return next summer in a heartbeat!

Yikes! We really had a terrible experience at this place. We highly recommend avoiding if you want to avoid staff who are less than concerned about their customers. We will certainly look elsewhere in future and are willing to drive further for better customer service.
