Wow ! This place is amazing ... from the staff to the rooms to the facilities. Nothing lets this place down. When we had an issue, it was sorted, nothing was too much trouble, drinks were decent and refreshing and lots of food choice that we chose not to eat in the speciality restaurants on site. The views are incredible and to be able to swim with turtles whilst snorkelling is a treat in its self.

We were looked after so well by the hotel staff especially Luis and Oscar who greeted us everyday on the beach and spoke to every single guest individually - a credit to the hotel and both deserve a pay rise! The gardeners, maids and cleaners kept the place immaculate and the guys who cleaned the seaweed from the beach worked tirelessly in soaring temperatures.

Stayed in Block 2, 2nd floor with a lovely view over the main pool and the beach. Room cleaned daily and beds were so comfy and large! Ordered room service on two occasions as too comfortable to leave the room after a day on the beach!

We miss Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort so much that we are now saving up to return in 2020! Thank you for making our special holiday one to remember - cannot wait to return!

What can I say about this place apart from perfect, the staff are so friendly especially
Mariel in entertainment
Wilberth on the lobby bar
Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was just so friendly, cannot recommend this place enough. We used the spa as part of our honeymoon package which we didn't expect and had the most amazing massages. The gourmet restaurant is second to none I've ever eaten in and the Brazilian steak house is fantastic too. If you can do the trip to the whale sharks a once in a life time experience which we thoroughly enjoyed. Id give coco bongos a miss not really worth it in my opinion but others on the trip loved it. This is a beautiful stunning resort and credit needs to go to everyone from the gardeners to the bell boys and the reception staff to the maids and room service guys.
We'd be back in a flash if we could it's a truly paradise honeymoon.

Firstly , apologies to Emanuele and the whole team at ABBWR for the delay in writing this review.. Life happened and well..
Anyway.. To make up .

Let me start by saying, never have I or my wife or family , ever repeated a resort more than twice.
We had booked last year for this year and had to juggle a few things with Emanuele in Customer Relations and booking to ensure we were able to bring our Granddaughter for her first international vacation. What Better place than ABBWR?
Flight was uneventful and transfers via USA Transfers to ABBWR was its usual excellent service.
Arrival at ABBWR at about 10am , we were Greeted by the Guys at the luggage desk (sorry, names elude me there ) with their welcome happy faces. As we went to the reception, the welcome towels and drinks were presented and we spoke to Alexander and the folks at the Front desk and got booked in.
We normally pack swimsuits in the carry ons and went and got changed and headed to the Pool/Beach.
We had hardly stepped into the area by the 'Pool and Oscar saw us and called across and welcomed us. Oscar and his team at the Pool bar seem to have almost a photographic memory for faces and names :-) We introduced our Granddaughter and looked around for familiar faces. Christopher (Fabio as the wife calls him) was down on the beach and had just come in from Paddle boarding with some other guests. We called him and introduced the Granddaughter and how's this for customer relations? 10 minutes after our arriving , he took our 12 year old granddaughter out on a paddleboard for the 1s time in her life with her sat up front and he stood up and in control , to an area where she could see through the clear sea to the bottom and all the wildlife. Her face said it all .. We went this time a week or so later in June than we normally do. The beach did have a little of the usual Sargassum but the guys were there , shoveling it up and away.
Our Rooms were as usual excellent and in building 3 by our choice having requested that building about 2 weeks before we arrived.
We met Adiel the next day and to see how he has takes over the role of the animation team is amazing. With the few staff he has, he keeps the place "hopping" but not in a loud or brash way.. Its subtle, but noticeable and yes, the guests do appreciate the team. Not everyone likes foam parties etc. Kudos to Adiel and the team!
German, well there is a character :-) Big guy.. Dont argue with him but he looks after the beach and beds and he does a great Job. There is nothing worse that beds being "reserved" and not being occupied for hours. If you want that level, then joint the Fidelity club. German and his team were polite and kept a good eye on the use of the beds and chairs.
One mention and this is a first for us, is Rigio Zapata, alias "Pool Guy" :-) Spoke little English and we have a crude understanding of Spanish but would always greet us with a Good morning, and with the aid of google translate, we held a pretty decent conversation about the benefits of a Saltwater pool over a chlorine pool. He took the time to explain how the pumps at Akumal work and how and what gets filtered/added etc. Very inciteful and always had a smile for us.
Pool Bar staff.
How can anyone remember what a guest's name is and preferred drink is from year to year with the thousands of faces that he gets to see.? That's Oscar! Add Jose -Angel to that list and Sinita and the other amazing staff at the pool bars (at Bld 1 and 3/4) as well as Wilbert and the day and night staff the lobby bar. These guys and gals are some of the most important ambassadors to ABBWR as they are at the forefront of daily life around the pool and beach. Carlos and Luka were a special treat for my granddaughter.
Food and restaurants.:
Who could ever forget Aurora? What a smile and greeting. Carlos , in the Buffet who has been there for many years. Some new faces there and a few familiar ones.
I seem to remember taking to Teribio too.. Nicknamed him "Torpedo" because he was always moving at speed.
Staff in all the restaurants were always available to ensure you had everything to hand. Alux (Mexican restaurant) was excellent as in all our other trips here.
The Chefs and back stage staff do a fantastic job and try to cater for a mixed clientele and their needs and tastes. Kuduos to them.
Building and Room Service and housekeeping as usual, impeccable.
Booking excursions. The girls took a trip to Puerto Adventuras to the Dolphin Experience. This was booked via Carlos at the Excursions desk at ABBWR .

Visited this resort 1st week of March. Honestly if you need to complain then you will likely find something here to complain about as well. Two Adirondack chairs just steps from the ocean, hot tub on patio, 24 hour room service, plunge pools through out and bar service everywhere! !! We had absolutely no complaints with this hotel. Beach is a bit rockey to the right side of resort but where the turtles are always seen to the left.......it is nice and clear. Food was excellent in all restaurants....especially the Gourmet. Love the sushi bar at the beach and the quick lunchtime buffet set up at the snack bar. More lounge chairs needed around the beach area but I am sure they are still working on corrective this!! Enjoy!

This hotel is so fabulous it should be on secret escapes, we will be returning but just ourselves, we don't want to share it with anyone,
a very friendly welcome on arrival , with a proper margarita, and hot towel, and then escorted to our room
our room was immaculate, flowers and a bowl of fruit on arrival
Jacuzzi on the balcony we used daily, extra toiletries provided without asking to ensure we had plenty of bubbles
food, we have no complaints about any of the food in any of the restaurant's,
a l carte restaurants with no reservations required, if the restaurant was full we were told the approx. waiting time and went for a drink and one of the restaurant staff would come and get us when our table was ready, the quality and presentation of all of the food was excellent
in the buffet different choice every day, sushi bar on the beach
and the room service we used a couple of times was the best I've had
in fact too much food too little time
entertainment was quite low key but we were not bothered
one highlight was the champagne and chocolate night in the lobby bar, Heaven!!
Drinks, all premium, no rubbish, no need to buy wine, the house wine served was wine you would recognise in most supermarkets and not the cheap variety
waitress service on the beach and by the pool, no need to move if you did not want too
and although we did tip, no one seemed to expect it
the beach is beautiful, it is cleaned and brushed daily,
saw baby turtles hatched and also released into the sea, this was quite emotional
we swam with Rays, barracuda and didn't even have to go on excursion they were on our doorstep
but the shining star of this hotel is the staff
it is unfair to identify anyone in particular as everyone was so friendly and helpful,
the waiting staff in the main bar, once you have given an order a couple of times you did not have to give it again,
but special thanks to Daniel and Jesues in the Gourmet restaurant, what nice funny and informative men, and Anibar in the buffet who knew what we wanted before we did
thank you to each and everyone for making our holiday as near perfect as we could hope for
