this motel was very clean, pleasant rooms and comfortable beds. The front desk was helpful although the entrance area was small. It was easy to get to and parking lot quite adequate. Breakfast was OK but could be improved!

I was up in Ft. Frances on Business for six nights. The front desk staff were helpful. My room was tidy every day after coming back to it from a long day's work. I stayed on the main floor in the North South wing in an odd number room which faced the parking lot shared with the Boston Pizza. My only complaints had to do with the late night banging of doors. There was a group of three other business people that were intent upon grabbing a fresh drink from their room and congregating in buddy's room up until . Every time they went to freshen up their drink and return their door would bang because they put the top latch across to prevent the door from locking. This was only one night of my 6. On two other occasions the room next to me was used by families with young children and they were in and out banging doors running up and down the hallway to use the swimming pool. The was rented out to kids birthday parties on two occasions while I was there as well. All and all you choices in this northern community are somewhat limited. Compared to the International Falls USA which was only 5 minutes away and with a bridge pass card for $20 for 12 crossings I would recommend staying over there as you can get a decent room at the old Holiday Inn which has since changed its name for $85.00 My room at the Super 8 was approx. $130./night for what was called a King suite - a very small King Suite.

Response from super8ff, General Manager at Super 8 by Wyndham Fort Frances
Responded Apr 8, 2013
Dear Guest Thank you for the compliments for the service and cleanliness that my staff provided while you stayed at our location. We do apolozie for the all the sleepness nights due to the excessive noise. We do cater to familes and all walks of life. We do attempt to a keep noise at a minmal and when a complaint is brought to our attention at the front desk during your stay my staff will do their best to respond and resolve. Next Time you are in the fort frances area and choose to stay with us again , consider requesting a room on the second floor this may be more convenient for your needs.

They were full when I reserved a room so I knew ahead of time I would be getting a smoking room. Not happy but what could I do? Surprising, the room wasn't smelly at all. Clean, and even the room fridge had a little baking soda in it. Nice touch. Hubby had a hard time with the pillows, said one wasn't enough but two were too many. I thought they were great.

Free breakfast was what you come to expect at the Super 8 chain. Make your own waffles, cereal, toast, boiled eggs etc etc. They did have ceramic cups for the coffee which I though was nice. Something about having your morning coffee in a real coffee cup instead of a foam cup makes it taste better.

Lobby was clean and there was a computer in the corner for those who needed it.

Pool was full of happy kids and hot tub was lovely after a hard days drive / work. They do have adult time only from 9pm to 10pm. They don't have a spa, but you can get free passes to the health club next door if you want.

There is a Boston Pizza across the parking lot. Mc Donalds, A & W, DQ and a KFC all within walking distance.

Two things did bother me. First was the third floor hallway and pool room. The roof heater was broken so there was no heat in these areas. They were waiting for a new heater so hopefully these will be fixed soon. If you go in the next few days, don't be surprised and bring a sweater to go into the pool area. Good thing the rooms had individual heat.

Second was in the pool itself. On our last night we noticed a lot of children playing in the pool. Some smaller kids with their parents and around 6 - 7 teenagers. A new teenager came in from outside (I saw him walk past the window) outer winter clothes on holding his trunks and another boy told him to go change in the men's room which I though was strange. Then I noticed a lot of back packs piled up in one of the corners. When a few of them came into the hot tub, there was no room for the little kids who were guests there. Later on I saw the same teenagers in the breakfast area with their coats on waiting for a ride home. Although they were pretty well behaved, I thought the pool was for the guests only. I guess not. Other than that the hotel was fine.
