We knew nothing of Barcelona upon flying in for a 2 night stay before a Transatlanic Cruise. Booked upon driving around and see some areas of City Center the Two Hotel. Could not have been happier upon arrival.... met by two wonderful gentleman after a long overnight flight and driving for hours through town taking in the beautiful history, architecture, and vibe. Upon check in the went out got our 2 weeks worth of luggage out of the car, parked the car in the wonderful secure underground parking and made us to cocktails at the lobby bar. Couldn't have made a better decision... the staff, the location, the wonderful breakfast buffet( was actually the best food I had in my 2 days in Barcelona!) Highly recommend for clean, centrally located, good parking, and an overall amazing stay!

My fiancé and I booked this hotel for a weekend visit in November. I must admit we were both a bit skeptical with the images on the hotel's website, however this hotel is clearly for anyone, and we felt very welcome. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are gorgeous and the beds confortable. We were on the top floor so everything was calm. Also there is a beautiful terrace with pool on the 7th floor which we did not get to use as it was pretty cold, but I can see this being a great attraction in the warmer months. There is also free and fast wifi.
The parking however is extremely narrow and parking was difficult (they need foam on the walls in order to protect your car), I would not recommend if you have to go in and out too often. The service was very good, but we had to be a little patient to be served (5-10 minutes).
The hotel is 100m from the subway (Rocafort) which was great as we could easily travel around the city in no time. There is also a shopping center near by that has some nice shops (Centro Commercial Arenas). Also there are good restaurants near by, I strongly recommend UGOT for breakfast and Café Manilla for dinner.

Really nice looking and modern hotel. A so called "hetero friendly" hotel. We are a (hetero) couple that travel a lot and I don´t care if a hotel has a "gay" twist or whatever, and long as it´s a good quality hotel with good service. We often come to Barcelona by car and we chose this hotel for its location and for having a garage to park the car. When arriving to the hotel we, as we always do, went for the parking entrance and ran the buzzer and was let in. But when entering the garage there was a horrible scraping noise from under the car. Then fluids started leaking from under the car. In the reception I pointed out that there must be a problem with their garage entrance. The receptionist called the manager and then handed us a piece paper stating, in a small text, that if you have a low car you should take extra care upon entering the garage (we have a VW Passat which is not super low in any way). I asked the receptionist where this information was given and got the answer that it was only given in the reception and that we should have gone to the reception before entering the garage. When I asked him why they had let us in when buzzing in the first place, there was no reply. Tip to the hotel: It´s so much easier for everyone to put up important information where it is needed, in this case by the garage entrance. The next day we went down to have our pre-payed breakfast, which was from, what I had read, 7am, only to figure out that it was from 7.30 am. Because of an early flight we could not wait until 7.30. When checking out, I mentioned, without expecting much, that we had not had time to enjoy the breakfast we had payed for. Again no answer, only a question if we had had anything from the mini-bar, which was a small bottle of water that we where charged for, which felt super cheap. We left the hotel hungry with a car that needs to be repaired. Not the best hotel experience to say the least.

I want to personally apologize of the unfortunate situation you had while driving inside the parking, most of the parking places in Barcelona are quite low and we are sorry that it was difficult for you to get in. At the same time, I am sorry that you minsunderstood with the breakfast time, but even we have the breakfast open at 7:30 we are always welcome to get a food pack so you can take it with you.

Sadly we could only stay for one night but so wished it could have been longer. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Daniel checked us in and said we were getting a free room upgrade. We received a courtesy call soon after check in to ask if everything was ok and if there was anything else we needed. There wasn't, everything was perfect. Room 505 was on a corner so we had two large windows overlooking the city. A large comfy double bed, massive shower, mini bar, large screen tv and scrupulously clean was all you could ask. We have stayed in its sister hotel the Axel Barcelona and also another of the groups hotels, the Axel Berlin and this one is even better than the others and they were good!! Maybe because this one is just two years old, but everything is to such a high standard. We soon ventured up to the rooftop bar and heated pool. We found a friendly bar man and relaxing atmosphere. Two drinks and an hour in the sun was just what we needed after our journey. Rather than hunt for free parking up towards the Olympic stadium, which is what we normally do when visiting the city, we opted for the hotels garage at 24 euro for 24 hours. A bit tight for large cars but perfect for our hired Corsa. This meant we had more time in the hotel and an afternoon to explore the area. Also want to mention Alexandra who checked us out, she again was helpful and said we could leave our car as long as we wanted for the rest of the day, no problem. We would definitely return in the future for a longer stay.

This second AXEL Hotel in Barcelona is brand new (as of July 2015), modern, stylish, sexy and labels itself, apart from cater for the gay-comunity as hetero-friendly. You will find this Hotel just steps from the ROCAFORT Station ( Red No. 1 Line between Espanya & Universitat ) at Calabria Street. Privat in-house garage parking is also available. The lobby is bright, stylish and decorated with large screens, showing the sexy boys in the latest ES fashion collection. The Ground floor offers beside the Reception also a small Bar as well as a lounge area, up on the Galleria is a computer work area and the breakfast room is in the basement floor. All rooms are either Street, side or Park view, with the exception of the singles, at the end of the aisle they face a atrium with enough light and are very quiet.
Rooms: I stayed at a single ( slightly smaller, no outside view, but very quiet and a lower price) but similar as the others and also designed in a open Bedroom - Bathroom concept;- perfect for a single person or a couple, being comfortable and open to/with each other. Open large shower, Toilette cabine, sink with a half see trough mirror to the bed area, more mirrors. Also there is a partial open closet/wardrobe concept with hangers, shelves and some drawers, stocked minibar, a safe, work-desk and a flatscreen satellite TV with international programs and radio stations.
On the rooftop terrace is a Bar/Lounge area as well as a relaxing Pool with sun chairs and cityview.
Many day and nighttime attractions as well as Shopping, Restaurants, Bars and more are either just around the corner within a 10 min. walk or 2-3 Metro or Busstops away.
