Myself and my husband booked this hotel for an overnight stay in Barcelona. It was easy to find and its location is very good just on the edge of Las Ramblas.
The room was small but clean. The bed was a bit hard but we slept well on it. The bathroom was lovely and large and v clean. We had a street view room but there was no real noise issues on the Thursday night we were there. It is a modern commercial hotel. Do not stay here if you are looking for ambiance or romance!
Unfortunately, our experience with the woman on reception was extremely poor. We arrived first having left our passports in the car. It is not customary in Ireland to have to present your passport everywhere you stay and we simply forgot them. She handled this rather aggressively but in the end, we did get passed this and I put it down to her having to commuciate with us in English. As were booking in (for the second time) I asked her if the hotel had parking. She told me the hotel had a deal with "public parking" and that when we checked out she would give us a card for the parking. Unfortunately, I took her to mean all public parking. Even more unfortunately, I did not press her to be more specific and we went off about our business.
When we went to check out the next day (with the same receptionist), it then transpired that in fact the deal was with one provider of public parking only. The error and oversight on her part was poor enough service. However, in the course of the conversation with her, she went to great lengths to say first that she HAD told us and then that it was obvious anyway from a small sign on the desk and we should have known. Again, she was aggressive and unpleasant. It was entirely our fault apparently. She was very antagonistic about it. Heaven forbid a receptionist might be clear (with foreign tourists who had asked her specifically about the parking) about where the parking actually was.
She was awful. We'd never stay there again because of the unpleasant feeling she left us with about the hotel. In the end of the day the difference in cost was only about €12 - €15, it was annoying but no big deal really. Certainly not worth having a fight about. I'd have said not worth antagonising your guests about either but there you are.
Still, in fairness, the physical facilities were fine if unexciting. But they need a different receptionist.
