We chose this resort for our family vacation. We were travelling with 16 people: 9 adults, one teenager, 9, 6, 4, 3, 3, and 2 aged children.
Check in took a long time, which was frustrating with small kids after a lengthy flight and bus ride. Once we were checked in we were dropped off with our luggage to our room (5301 - bottom floor). In our room were two adults, a 2 and 4 year old. The room contained one king size bed and a hide a bed. They had considerately provided a crib (which we did not use).
The room was quite run down. The furniture was damaged, the shower and tub leaked any everything was simply shabby and uncomfortable. The king size bed was extremely hard and unforgiving.
Filtered water and a mini bar were provided in the room, as well as local television and a safe. The water was room temperature, which wasn't the most appetizing. The bathroom set up did not allow for much privacy, as the shower and tub were open to the rest of the room, separated by a thin curtain. For our room it was fine, but not for the adult and the 17 year old.
While we had enjoyed the golf cart ride to be dropped off at our room, we found there weren't many opportunities to use it through the week. It was a long walk from our building to the beach or any dining options.
The beach was lovely, well maintained and many chairs available. As were the pools and water slides. We did find that the kids waterpark was overwhelming as caregivers, as it is pretty much hands on. There were no quiet spaces for the younger kids to play while the older kids slid. The new adult water slides were a big hit! Be warned - no go pros or buttons on your shorts allowed.
There were many dining options and we got to experience every a la carte option. El Templo was fantastic, the food and the experience, as was the Brazilian restaurant. The steak house was also nice, the Italian restaurant was nothing special (but we loved their buffet lunch!). La Riviera was awful. Service was almost non existent and we waiting over and hour for our main course to arrive.
There were many bars, located nice and close to all the different areas we frequented. Depending on the bartender, and how much you tipped dictated how strong your drinks were.
The kids club seemed unorganized and slightly unsafe. Didn't feel comfortable using it, however others in our party did.
The shows were not particularly well done, but the kids enjoyed them.
They claimed free wifi, but it did not work reliably.
