Overall I would say this was a good place to visit. We arrived about 3 hours before we could check in so we went to the beach. At first we were disappointed with the beach. It's not very big, rocky, and seaweed laying around. There were also big barriers laying in the water, I believe to break the waves so they wouldn't wash the beach away more than it is. A little girl that was in our group stepped on what was believed to be a sea urchin and had to have slivers removed from the bottom of her foot. We walked about 1/4 mile down the beach and found a great spot for the kids to play in. Nice sand for building sand animals and good spot to enjoy some waves. The kids also enjoyed the kids pool area, but they didn't spend a lot of time there.
Rooms- Rooms were decent. The beds were a bit hard for our taste but weren't terrible. The jet tubs are huge and our family loved sitting in them to relax in the early morning, however they take quite awhile to fill up.
Food- Buffets were like most buffets at all inclusive resorts. Not spectacular and you are ready to eat American food again after about four days, but everyone in our group had no issues with them and found plenty to choose from. We had two meals at the specialty restaurants and we choose the Brazilian and Japanese (Hibachi). The food was great at both. The Hibachi is always fun to watch them prepare and the overall service at the Brazilian was nothing short of spectacular!
Wildlife- Being an Eco resort they try to keep it as natural as possible. We saw plenty of lizards (iguanas and anoles) throughout the trip. We also saw raccoons, coati's, and domestic (rescued) cats that come into food areas looking for food, but they aren't a big nuisance. We also saw some monkeys cruising the trees occasionally, and got some great pictures of some that came down to the ground to eat some plant leaves right beside us. On top of that they have deer, donkeys, dogs, and parrots enclosed around the area as well.
Service- This resort has an amazing staff! Wait staff are polite and always making there rounds to clear plates and refilling drinks. The cleaning staff were also polite, do a great job cleaning rooms and entertained our kids with their great towel animals.
Entertainment- We went to their shows every night. The shows this resort puts on are phenomenal!! We watched two shows on a story of a Mayan legend, a Super Heroes show, Disney show (which our daughter helped out in and loved it!) and then the Michael Jackson show which was fantastic! After each show you can take pictures with the entertainers which our kids loved. They also have an Eco tour everyday at 10:30 am. The tour is different everyday as you can learn about the land, cenote's, wildlife, pyramids and such. The tour guide Naomi was a great guide. She was very knowledgeable about the area and culture and is exceptional with children. Naomi is a fantastic guide and makes the tour worth while. Our kids really enjoyed her and learned a lot. They also have a kids club that you can drop the kids off for awhile, and enjoy some adult time. Our kids wanted to go hang out here a few times and seemed to always have a blast playing and enjoying the activities.
Overall we had a great trip! Our disappointment with the beach faded away throughout the week, as there were so many other things that we enjoyed.
