Voices worth listening to in the AI space

Voices worth listening to in the AI space

In a world where the loudest voices aren’t necessarily the most knowledgeable ones, deciding who to listen to is an art. That’s why we’re sharing articles from a hand-picked roster of AI industry experts who legit know what the heck is going on. Because when you deserve to be heard, you shouldn't have to shout. Dig in!

The future needs open innovation in AI

Let’s not make the same mistakes again, shall we?

A handful of companies are making great strides toward developing proprietary, closed large language models (LLMs). But these locked-down systems, whose inner workings are off limits to public review, are inherently lacking in transparency, auditability, and the spirit of open innovation. AI expert Sean Hughes argues that the only way to prevent the mistakes of our past is to create open systems based on shared responsibilities for human-centered AI that incorporate open-governance policies and processes.

AI will unlock developer productivity

Reports of coding’s demise are greatly exaggerated

Writing the same thing over and over again is generally seen as a punishment. (Queue Bart Simpson and his iconic chalkboard gag.) Why, then, should developers be forced to recreate the same bit of code ad nauseam? Surely their time could be spent solving problems and working creatively? If only there were a technology that could liberate them from this monotony! Oh, wait. There is. Learn why AI is a developer's BFF.

The future of STEM is AI

Why AI is the key to leveling the educational playing field

Ask any parent—or student, for that matter—and they will tell you that not every kid learns the same. Unfortunately, in a system that values conformity, children who fall outside the educational box are often left behind. A lack of accessible tech learning opportunities for less affluent students only adds to the growing STEM education gap. Luckily, AI is poised to remediate these problems by providing customized, cost-effective STEM experiences to students around the world—not just those in the right ZIP codes. Virtual labs, anyone?

Addressing issues such as the lack of transparency and auditability is an important step towards building trust in those systems.
