Join the conversation to redefine ‘well made’ for the 21st century Pearson Lloyd is curating a new exhibition at Yorkton Workshops during London Design Festival 2024, which will bring together a diverse array of people and practices to explore ‘well made’ through new forms of production and materiality that respond to the demands of a more ecological future. We are seeking contributions to this dialogue, highlighting the intersection of creativity, sustainability, and quality. The act of making has driven human and cultural evolution for millennia, elevating our existence and surroundings through ingenuity and innovation. However, in recent history, this creative process has been monetised, industrialised and globalised, resulting in rapid social, economic and environmental change. BOOM 💥 WORK. ON POINT. When I took over the Innovation and Design department from Didi Lenz, I not only had big shoes to fill, but also had the great honor of starting an amazing project together with my colleague Dipl.-Ing. Claus Scholler, who is responsible for product management. It‘s the first product development process at Bene I was co-responsible. And then we decided to develop it with the fabulous Tom Lloyd RDI and Luke Pearson RDI: #POINTS. 3 years later, our "baby" POINTS is now seeing the light of day and I couldn't be happier. 💫 Thanks to the amazing team that made this magic happen: Andrea Hildwein, Daniela Stepanek, Wolfgang Tejral, Timo Mutschler, Fritz Köttl, Giovanni La Tona and the whole team of PPMNEXT_FILM_FOTO_HYPE (and everyone that support us especially in the last months). 🚧 POINTS by Bene is not a piece of furniture, it’s a room zoning system that eliminates the need for space-defining interior fittings. Flexibility is thus moving into office landscapes. Together with our #NOOXS room-in-room system, open and closed areas with different qualities can be created. The system’s components can be dismantled and separated by type for recycling. Delighted to see Pupa, Pearson Lloyd's recent experimental design exploration written up by Deyan Sudjic in this month’s Domus Magazine. The first issue under the editorship of Norman Foster, explores the theme of 'the future with optimism'. Emerging organically from the curation of our exhibition, ‘Material Change’, at Material Matters; part of London Design Festival 2023, Pupa is a new design experiment in biotechnical design. Emerging from a playful, off-screen process that allowed us to evolve organic forms through the act of making by hand, the design explores circular economy principles by making use of natural bio-based and technical waste-capturing materials that can be returned to respective biological and technical cycles at end-of-life. Pupa lives at the intersection of the natural world and advanced technology – between regenerative materials such as timber and twine and manufacturing techniques such as 3D knitting and additive manufacturing. Collaborating with 3D knit specialists Camira, Pupa’s fabric is made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester that includes 75% SEAQUAL Yarn, made from marine plastics. https://lnkd.in/emPpzXpm
