Design for Change. We are a team of strategists and designers responding to our rapidly changing world.
About us
Pearson Lloyd is a London-based design studio founded by Tom Lloyd and Luke Pearson in 1997. Our role as designers is to listen to the world for opportunities to improve lives. Since 1997, we have established a cross-sector position built on insights from the social, economic and environmental challenges facing people across home, work and travel. Our strategists and designers focus on decoding complexity to create products and experiences that balance the rapidly changing needs of user, client and planet. We partner with ambitious clients to use the scale of industry as a uniquely powerful tool for transformation. In 2008, Tom and Luke were awarded the distinction of Royal Designers for Industry by The Royal Society of Arts, and in August 2012 were named in the top 50 designers ‘Shaping the Future’ by Fast-Co Magazine in New York. In 2022 Luke and Tom were bestowed as Honorary Doctors of Design by Nottingham Trent University. In 2023, Pearson Lloyd was awarded 'Designer of the year' by Dezeen.

Join the conversation to redefine ‘well made’ for the 21st century Pearson Lloyd is curating a new exhibition at Yorkton Workshops during London Design Festival 2024, which will bring together a diverse array of people and practices to explore ‘well made’ through new forms of production and materiality that respond to the demands of a more ecological future. We are seeking contributions to this dialogue, highlighting the intersection of creativity, sustainability, and quality. The act of making has driven human and cultural evolution for millennia, elevating our existence and surroundings through ingenuity and innovation. However, in recent history, this creative process has been monetised, industrialised and globalised, resulting in rapid social, economic and environmental change. In our collective effort to respond to these challenges, there is a need to redefine our cultural understanding of what it means to be ‘well made.’ Please submit your contribution via this link before July 15th 2024. https://lnkd.in/dWxAEKEZ

Pearson Lloyd has a two-decade track record of ground-up innovation evolving the passenger experience across all modes of mass transport with a specialism in Aviation. Our design services are delivered across four different phases. The Discovery phase allows us to immerse ourselves in the brand, passengers' experience, industry, and mega-trends by doing interviews and creative workshops. In the Foresight phase, we define personas and mindsets, map customer journeys, and model future landscapes that will identify opportunities for innovation and develop the brief. During our Design phase, we develop concepts, prototypes, and ergonomic modeling that lead to a tested industrial design solution from ground-up LOPA development to innovation designs. In our last phase Delivery, we support on project and milestones, design CMF developments and implementations, and visualizations to deliver the project. We have worked with OEMs (including Boeing and Airbus) and premium seating suppliers (Thompson Aero Seating Limited, Collins Aerospace, STELIA Aerospace, RECARO Aircraft Seating, Safran, Jamco America & Adient Aerospace) on cabin interior development on over 40+ programs to create Business, Premium Economy and Economy seating, galleys, self-service units, lavatories third spaces, bespoke materials and finish developments. for short and long-haul aircraft.
