💥A first look at #LDF24!💥 Last night, we gathered at One Hundred Shoreditch with designers, collaborators and partners to offer a sneak peek of what the Festival has in store for 14-22 September 2024. Hosted by Bianca Gidwani, we kicked off with LDF director Ben Evans thoughts on London’s design scene and how the notion of play has emerged as a growing global trend within the creative sector, and went on to reveal a taste of the LDF24 programme so far (details below ⬇️). 📽️ Watch the First Look back and read more about the LDF programme here https://lnkd.in/eG_jcSQV ---- ⭐️ Landmark Projects American Hardwood Export Council will present ‘Vert’ with Stefan Diez and OMCC - a sustainable structure in red-oak glulam that will serve as a living eco system, supporting local biodiversity and a habitat for insect populations and visitors alike! Turkish artist Melek Zeynep Bulut will showcase ‘Duo’ at Old Royal Naval College's Painted Hall - an innovative suspended installation that will explore duality by using magnets and sensors strategically placed to create interactions with the audience. ✨ Festival Commissions : POoR Collective in partnership with Battersea Power Station are creating a community inspired public piece of art, designed through workshops with Wandsworth based school children and youth groups. The exhibition Craft x Tech at the Victoria and Albert Museum Prince Consort Gallery will pair master producers from the Tohoku region of Japan with designers including Sabine Marcelis, Studio Swine and Ini Archibong 🏛️ LDF at the V&A For the 15th year, LDF visitors can explore the iconic spaces of the Victoria and Albert Museum and experience a series of thought-provoking contemporary installations exploring global cultures, material investigations through craft and origins and how design shapes space to bring people together and commune through rituals. Discover work by international contemporary designers including Giles Tettey Nartey, Arjun Singh Assa liang-jung Studio Raw Origins Modular By Mensah and Studio Bark 🎙️  Global Design Forum is back at the V&A for with themes 'Please Design Responsibly', 'The Healthy City', 'Resilience and Repair' and 'More than Human', supported by our sponsors VELUX, Türkiye Tasarım Vakfı and Johnnie Walker Blue Label. 📍There will be 11 Design Districts this year, each with their own personality that reflects the local community and enables visitors to explore events a short walking distance from each other. 🪑  Design Fair Material Matters will return to Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf from 18-21 September, showcasing globally recognised brands and emerging talent with an innate sense of material intelligence – and the desire to make the world a slightly better place. ✏️  'Duality', this year’s iconic red white and black graphic identity by Pentagram draws on contrasting typefaces to express the natural diversity that exists within design.

We're always on the lookout for emerging talent. In just over a week, work from over 3,000 graduates, including interior designers, textiles artists, graphic designers, furniture makers, ceramicists, will be on show at New Designers 2024. Held at the Business Design Centre from 26 June - 6 July, the exhibition will open its doors for two weeks of top design talent from across the UK. We joined D&AD Festival and into the jury insights for the ‘Impact’ category. The judges shared their favourite work that explored innovations from EV charging to helmets made from shells.
