When I was in high school and told my useless guidance counselor I was applying to Emerson College she looked dumbfounded as she’d never heard of it. And she tried (quite hard) to convince me against it. While the Daniels’ are today’s “it” high profile alum, they are among countless others who fuel the industry in front of and behind the scenes. So many of us have made long and prolific careers that started while having coffee sitting on the wall talking about our current projects. We’re not all as publicly successful - but then again, many of us are quite satisfied with that! Looking back, this was the very best advice from an authority figure I’ve ignored. Proud to be part of the #Emersonmafia
So proud of Emersonians! 🎉🏆💜 Emerson Alumni Daniel Kwan ‘10 and Daniel Scheinert ’09 won big at the Academy Awards Sunday, taking home Oscars for Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture for their film Everything Everywhere All at Once. It was a triumphant end to a successful awards season for the duo, who created a multiverse-hopping adventure that captivated audiences. A slew of Emersonians collaborated in the film, including Tallie Medel ’08 who won a Gold Derby Award for Ensemble Cast, and Sunita Mani ’08 who had a role as a TV musical queen. Congrats to everyone involved! . . . #EmersonPride #Oscars2023 #EverythingEverywhereAllatOnce
Your post hits the mark Sue. There is a whole range of career paths that we took. Some mind-blowingly visible to the public at large, but most less so. The connections I made with people at all levels of commitment and aspiration were valuable to my career, and my personal growth.
My daughter, Sydney, loves it there! She’s studying abroad this semester at the castle and is having the most amazing experience.
Glad to be part of the #Emersonmafia
So important to listen to yourself (even at a young age). You know you!
Well said!
I was so happy for both of them! What a great accomplishment.
Cannes & Sundance winning VENEZUELAN-AMERICAN (and honorary Brazilian) FILM & COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR, PRESIDENT at Plan A Films
1yMy son goes to Emerson, the film program and he loves it. This is coming from a kid who has been on many sets acting with the likes of Hilary swank, Brenda Blethyn et als, working with some of the greatest directors around. He was accepted to many prestige film schools and chose Emerson. So I join you in echoing kudos; albeit once removed.
