How can you retain top talent during times of change?
Talented individuals want to be treated like adults. They are astute and know when information is being watered down or withheld. If you want to build trust, share the information that you have and be honest when you don't have the answers. Saying "you don't know" when you don't know shows that you are honest and, most importantly, that you are human.

How can you retain top talent during times of change?
One thing I've found helpful is to think through what you want your top talent to think, feel and do ahead of any communications. Taking the time to empathize with your top talent will ensure that you reinforce that they are well-informed of the change, they are critical to the company's success, and, ideally, they play an important role in leading the change. With any change, it's also crucial to remind employees about what's staying the same. Oftentimes the change takes center stage and it can feel overwhelming. Taking the time to articulate the things that are staying the same, e.g., commitment to customers, company mission, workplace culture, etc., can help myth bust and alleviate fears.

What are the best practices for creating a culture of experimentation and learning?
Fostering collaboration and diversity requires an environment centered on psychological safety. This means that each member of the team is aware of how they are creating an environment where all perspectives are sought, and team members feel valued for their contributions. Often small actions and behaviors like: (1) asking follow up questions to seek deeper understanding, (2) not speaking over each other, (3) not multitasking when others are speaking, and (4) providing acknowledgement of ideas - matter most.
