Wow, what an epic first week at Docusign! The entire Lexion team was greeted with balloons in the lobby on day 1 with breakfast, goodies, and a welcome so warm it would melt an iceberg. We had a week of deep-dives and onboarding sessions that felt like going back to college. And the best part: a party where we got to mingle with our new team mates, and where I got to ascend to new heights and deliver an elevated message! A huge kudos to the HR and Deal teams at Docusign -- for those in the business of integrating companies and orgs, this is how it's done!

Thank you for the warm welcome Allan Thygesen. We are thrilled and humbled to join the Docusign team. Now the fun work begins!
What a week for Docusign! We delivered Docusign IAM, our Intelligent Agreement Management platform, into general availability yesterday, and today we closed our deal to acquire Lexion, the AI agreement workflow platform company. The team has put in an incredible amount of work to solve the seemingly intractable agreement management problems that have plagued companies for years, and represent a loss of two trillion dollars, according to Deloitte. The Docusign IAM platform is designed to use AI to modernize agreement management so businesses of all kinds can transform agreement data into insights and actions, accelerate contract review cycles, and boost productivity organization-wide. I’ve spent the last couple of months traveling the globe, talking to our customers about these problems. The pain is acutely felt, the appetite for this kind of solution is high, and I am excited to see how Docusign IAM benefits the organizations who adopt it. This week’s launch is a real milestone for our company transformation, but it’s just the beginning. With the acquisition of Lexion, we’ll be accelerating our Intelligent Agreement Management journey as we incorporate their proven technology into our Docusign IAM platform, and combine our industry-leading teams. We are thrilled to be partnered with Lexion co-founders Gaurav Oberoi and Emad Elwany and their incredible team. Congratulations to the Docusign and Lexion teams on a momentous week! https://lnkd.in/gEmza-8V

I’m blushing. I’m also simultaneously humbled and proud. But most of all, I’m thankful. All operators know: behind the glitz and glamor is plain old hard work, consistently, through all the ups and downs. But also… there’s luck. I’m lucky to be born into a supportive family, to have had incredible mentors and coaches (several are quoted here), and to have the chance to work alongside wonderful and talented people throughout my career. Thank you GeekWire team!

I have exciting news: Lexion is joining forces with Docusign! When we started Lexion over 5 years ago, we envisioned a world where AI would help people understand and manage agreements. We even named the company DocuSmart Inc (our official name even now)! Over the years, we assembled a mighty team with an INCREDIBLE ABILITY to build, sell, and support fantastic products that customers love. Today, Lexion helps over 300 enterprise customers manage their agreements from start to finish with a suite of award-winning products, from an AI powered repository, to a powerfully simple intake/workflow system, and an AI assistant that auto-reviews agreements. Today’s announcement is about HUGE OPPORTUNITY. Docusign is a leader in agreements, with over 1.5 million customers, an R&D spend of over $540M last year, and a striking vision of a future where intelligence transforms how agreements are managed. It’s rare for INCREDIBLE ABILITY to meet HUGE OPPORTUNITY, but when they intersect, that’s when MAGIC happens. I am humbled and thrilled to join Docusign, and to create magic with our people, products, and customers. My gratitude to Allan Thygesen, Dmitri Krakovsky, Kamal Hathi, David Simon, Brian Kelly, and Eric Darwin for warmly welcoming the Lexion team. To our 300+ customers: thank you for your trust in us; we look forward to bringing you even more innovation and success as part of the Docusign family. To our team: I am grateful to work shoulder to shoulder with you every day, and am so very proud of you all. We couldn’t do it without so many people believing in us along the way, a huge thanks to our investors and advisors: Tim Porter, Oren Etzioni, Jacob Colker, David Wang, Kanu Gulati, Vinod Khosla, Sri Chandrasekar, Ryan Fauber, Cagla Kaymaz, and Vibhor Rastogi. And a very special thanks to my family for your support and encouragement, especially my amazing wife Sandhya Thodla. I think I hear the Oscars cue music playing… Time to make magic happen! https://lnkd.in/gZdsxZAa

Time kills deals, but can AI save the day? 44% of Sales thinks that legal takes too long to turn documents, but 53% of Legal respondents believe AI can speed it up. Read Lexion's 2023 State of Legal Tech report to learn more: https://lnkd.in/g9t7-M-K Key findings: ☝️ Sales thinks contract review is much slower than Legal does. While 82% of legal respondents indicate that contract reviews and approvals take 5 days or less, just 59% of sales respondents agreed with that timeframe. ⏩ Respondents indicated that the leading complaint from sales teams – by nearly two to one – is that contracts are not returned quickly enough. 😫 Lack of resources, as well as being buried in lower-value tasks, were indicated as the two primary factors preventing Legal respondents from doing their jobs well. ✨ The top benefits expected from using AI across both Sales and Legal departments: completing work more quickly and efficiently, as well as removing repetitive tasks. #LegalTech #AIInnovation #SalesCycle #ContractManagement #LegalTrends #FutureOfLaw #TechAdoption #BusinessStrategy #InnovationInLaw #LegalIndustry #Lexion

I did a live interview on BBC World Service Radio last week about the changes at OpenAI and how they impact us builders who rely on their offerings. Listen in to hear my thoughts on who's the forerunner in this space, how easy/hard it is for companies to diversify across LLMs, and my opinions on the debate of slow-down vs. go-live with innovations in the AI space. The segment starts at minute 17:45 and is ~7 minutes long: https://lnkd.in/gAj28FEz

I had the pleasure of speaking at the GeekWire summit with Diego Oppenheimer and Charlotte Yarkoni. Thank you John Cook for a wonderful discussion, and to the lively audience for their questions!
Great discussion at GeekWire Summit talking AI business strategy with Gaurav Oberoi sharing how Lexion is using GenAI to massively improve the way businesses create and manage contracts. My friend Diego Oppenheimer sharing his experiences building Algorithmia and starting / investing in companies at Factory. Last but not least, former startup founder and current Microsoft exec, Charlotte Yarkoni, providing Azure POV. Great job John Cook leading the conversation. #AIGetsReal
