The acquisition of Lexion by Docusign marks a significant advancement in Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM). I've migrated away from DocuSign more than any other vendor. In each case the system was inherited and working fine. But, it seemed someone there always had a revenue goal to hit and the next renewal terms were dramatic increases. The assumption, I presume, was that the switching costs wouldn't be worth it. I always found that it was. It's an interesting market spot for DocuSign. The core eSign product is a commodity service with plenty of easy to switch to alternatives. They are, in theory, sitting on a gold mine of AI training content. I suspect most of that is locked away in confidentiality terms (keep on eye on that during renewals!). AI contract negotiation aid takes two to tango and I believe such services will aid buyers more than sellers. How to create DocuSign? 1.   Set Up Your Profile: You may be prompted to set up your user profile with additional details like your role, organization, and contact information. 2.   Agree to Terms and Conditions: Review DocuSign's terms and conditions and privacy policy. If you agree to these terms, check the box indicating your acceptance. 3.   Explore the Platform: Once your account is created and verified, you'll have access to the DocuSign platform. You can begin uploading, signing, and sending documents for electronic signature. 4.   Upload and Sign a Document: To get started, you can upload a document you need to sign or send to others. DocuSign will guide you through the process of adding fields for signatures, initials, dates, and other required information. 5.   Send for Signature: After configuring the document, you can send it to the relevant parties for their electronic signatures. Presumably, this offer was irresistible. The reason being, Lexion had raised $20m funding just last year and no company typically raises capital with the intention to sell within a year. However, there is more to this deal than meets the eye. Let’s explore👇 Most people know DocuSign as a tool for eSigns. But after reaching 1.5Mn Customers, $2.8Bn Revenue and $12Bn Market Cap. The Company is expanding its scope from Sign to Sign + Contract Lifecycle Management (𝐂𝐋𝐌). This is exactly the gap that Lexion fills in 🏹 Lexion’s founders began with a 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: tracking legal contracts is painful and results in several wasted hours. Hence, they created an intelligent repository, a database of contracts that offers legal teams a quick way to find & answer basic questions of existing documents. Overtime they expanded into Pre-Sign journey of contracts therefore solving challenges for teams beyond legal including finance, sales, HR, IT, etc. But it was Lexion’s 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐡 that made DocuSign pay top dollar. What a week for Docusign! We delivered Docusign IAM, our Intelligent Agreement Management platform, into general availability yesterday, and today we closed our deal to acquire Lexion, the AI agreement workflow platform company. The team has put in an incredible amount of work to solve the seemingly intractable agreement management problems that have plagued companies for years, and represent a loss of two trillion dollars, according to Deloitte. The Docusign IAM platform is designed to use AI to modernize agreement management so businesses of all kinds can transform agreement data into insights and actions, accelerate contract review cycles, and boost productivity organization-wide.  I’ve spent the last couple of months traveling the globe, talking to our customers about these problems.  The pain is acutely felt, the appetite for this kind of solution is high, and I am excited to see how Docusign IAM benefits the organizations who adopt it.  This week’s launch is a real milestone for our company transformation, but it’s just the beginning.
