“Heather is the type of leader that every team should strive to recruit and everybody should want to work for/with. No matter the profession, she has the basic core qualities of what companies and organizations need to lead a successful mission. Heather always makes sure that everybody on her team is taken care of and if she senses a problem; she doesn't merely let it pass by without investigating. When working for Heather, she helped me define a more precise meaning between “caring” and “micromanaging”. “Micromanaging” is when you care that the job gets done and you have to have your hand in every piece of the operation. “Caring” is making sure the job is done well but not at the expense of your team and making sure they feel validated, know the mission, trust them to get the job done and feel as if they have a stake in the success. Heather is most definitely the latter and that is where she shines the most - even under the highest of pressure situations. Be it at the Capitol, working with advocates to prepare them for testimony or representing the organization before coalitions, Heather comes prepared with the energy and knowledge needed to take on the most difficult of obstacles. It took me over 5 years to earn an opportunity to work in her department and she has done everything within her abilities to help coach me up and promote my own career while being "mission focused". I am not an exception, I am the rule as this is how she leads each individual on her team. Given the opportunity, I would work under Heather leadership time and time again. ”
