#MentalHealth for #Veterans: Addressing the Lingering Impact of War Everyone can play a role in improving care for those who’ve answered their country’s call of duty. According to Wounded Warrior Project’s Annual Warrior Survey, #mentalhealth issues accounted for three of the top four most common service-connected #injuries among veterans registered with the nonprofit who served either on or after 9/11, and 3 out of 4 of these veterans reported post-traumatic stress. https://lnkd.in/d48YHYqi Empower Mental Health is dedicated to supporting and strengthening #veterans as they transition to civilian life after their military service. Our expertise lies in conducting comprehensive mental health assessments, including those for General Mental Health and #PTSD, for veterans from various branches of the U.S. military. Additionally, we offer one-on-one psychotherapy sessions for individual veterans. Furthermore, we perform confidential psychological evaluations and Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) upon private referrals. #empower #meantalhealth #corporatewellness #employeehealth #counseling #veterans

Honoring Those Who Served While Supporting Mental Health This Remembrance Day, we pause to honor those who have served in Canada's military. The sacrifices made by our veterans, fallen soldiers, and their families are worthy of our deepest gratitude. For many, Remembrance Day can also resurface memories of trauma, loss, and sacrifice. Let us recognize that war and military service can profoundly impact mental health and wellbeing. Conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), moral injury, anxiety, and depression are common among active duty members and veterans. As we reflect, I hope we can show compassion towards those struggling with the painful legacy of their service. Listening without judgment, prioritizing treatment over stigma, and fostering understanding is imperative. There are also many organizations providing mental health support tailored to veterans' needs. This Remembrance Day, we remember the courage and devotion of those who served while also caring for their wellbeing. By supporting mental health, we can truly honor veterans' sacrifices. Their service will never be forgotten. #RemembranceDay #MentalHealth #Veterans #PTSD #LestWeForget

Health and Wellness September is mental health awareness month. If you followed my journey you know this topic is near and dear to me. My transition out of the US Army was hard. I hit rock bottom even with having all of the tools, resources, and knowledge on how to “ace” transition. I mean, hello.. I was the Director of Communications for U.S. Army Soldier For Life. I have shared my story and will continue to share my story of how my seemingly perfect world came crashing down and I almost ended it all. Here’s the other truth… it never leaves you. While I have moments of light and I’ve been able to go from transition to transformation, there are still days of darkness. I would be lying if I told you there weren’t. I’ve learned that taking care of myself - mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically is important. I started to put myself first and not feel guilty about it. To take the time out and workout, to journal, to daydream etc. Do I do it all the time… NOPE! Which leads me to today. I suck at going to the Dr. So much so I’ve been in pain for months. I finally went in today, and I found out I need a procedure on my back. 🙄 Well that explains why I’m hurting- at least I can’t say it’s cause I’m old 🤣 (ok maybe it is). But what I’m driving at is this… don’t neglect your self care. We in the military are really good at this… even in our retirement years (old habits die hard). #army #soldierforlife #olivianunn #military #militaryveteran #usarmy #publicrelations #militarytransition #militarylife #mentalhealth #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalhealthawareness
